Maybe worth mentioning that most carbide tip blades have a max RPM. Worth doing the math to make sure your head speed is wthin spec. I once had a carbide blade on a belt drive table saw where "someone" (a younger me) had not done the math. The result was terrifying!
Yes, using the wrong blade for the job can be dangerous. Anyone reviewing this video should not use a circular/table/miter saw blade. Use blades designed for trimmer heads. Angle grinder disks are even more brittle. Going cheap and having a catastrophic failure is not worth the risk. For those reading, buy the proper equipment to do the job safely and properly.
I've heard that bamboo spreads via underground root nodules and you have to use a backhoe to get rid of it. Bamboo is a very invasive plant. Once bamboo takes root you end up with more and more bamboo.
Safety mention: Actually, unless the trimmers is designed to support the blade use, do not add the blade. The clutch and shaft need to be sturdier to use blade vs string.
The poison is certainly in the dose. This ryobi blade is significantly lighter than the stock trimmer head, but I wouldn’t go much larger. You heard those teeth skipping with the big blade!
My friend had a commercial trimmer with the blade. He bought a powerful one that had no blade offering for it. He thought he could put the blade on from his commercial rated trimmer. Never thought about trying a small blade on mine. But I think I'll keep my M18 string-only. I have a Honda HHT 35 string trimmer I hate using as a string trimmer. But I have a few purpose-built brush cutter blades for it. Let's just say that 4-strokes take a while to reach max RPM and a metal blade doesn't improve that aspect. But at least there's no question the machine is made to handle it. One blade I have is Japanese and looks like a 4-blade mower blade. It's pretty badass but I don't know if it would take down 1" bamboo.
Im 58 now. Many years ago when i was in my teens we went to the SD county fair in del mar ca. In one of the booths they had for sale one of the first monfilament weed wackers. It was called the "green machine". It came with a powersaw type blade for heavy brush and branches up to 2 in thick and a 4 tined metal blade like a small lawn mower blade for lighter woody brush. It was heavy and vibrated like a jackhammer but it was very effective. I did a lot of work with that beast of a machine. (We lived on a hilltop ranch where such equipment made lots of jobs a hell of a lot easier).
Echo makes a brush hog attachment for their string trimmers. I have one and it works great on heavy brush. I did substitute out their blade with one I saw on another channel from Amazon.
Ok. Wow. You have my A mericaaaa happy. Have some pain in the booty bushes that my small electric hand saw isn't cutting it. It's time for Aaaamerica ingenuity to take a hand in it. Thanks dude.
I did this but made a mandrel for the mount of a 7 1/2inch blade carbide tipped. The smaller diameter puts less strain on the bearings clutch and motor.
At the old continent they just give you a blade like this to every off brand weed wacker... nylon nut included. I use it from time to time for overgrown stuff, it kicks back a little but I still have everything attached to my body so nothing deadly.
@@roomservicetaco That would take a powerful and expensive motor, and it definitely takes the danger to the next level. I’m all for it, let me know how it goes :)
I would never stop using gas powered lawn equipment unless they stop making it and I can’t find it I guess you’re not free in the United States anymore if you can’t even use a lawnmower truly ironic
everyone should have a torch for opening plastic . Those skittles bags are especially nasty , and don't even get me going on the cheetohs bags lol. But seriously . Why are they sealed in bullet proof plastic in the first place ?
$20 per gallon! I picked up a metal pre mix quart container, a dollar store basting syringe for metering 2 cycle oil and I mix my own from 91 octane gas so that there is no alcohol in it. I pump the first gallon or two into my vehicle to purge the pump before filling my gas can. It does not go stale over winter and works great!
For lots of people that’s the only way to get ethanol free gas without driving 50 miles. Ever leave 15% ethanol gas in your weedwacker for a few months?
For the love of God do not do this at home. If that shaft uses a cable instead of a solid core you'll ruin the shaft. If the motor isn't powerful enough that's the end of your trimmer.
My man, don't ever put the blowtorch over the carbide teeth, even as a joke. You are going to anneal them and then you're going to lose the sharpness much quicker.
Once I heard this guy say something about living in Commiefornia, the rest of this nonsense video started to make sense. edit* I just realized the clip art has the words “this should be illegal”. Something a true Commiefornian would suggest.
I'll tell yall how to kill cane/bamboo.. go 30' past the growth dig 6' down through the cane patch 30' in every direction haul all that dirt and root structure away bring in new dirt and hope that you didn't leave a single piece of the roots.
"I don't live in Kalifornia, I live in America" GOLD. Strange that the titanium screw video came a bit after this vid; coincidence?
Best part of the video, hands down.

best to go without carbide teeth. especially if rocky area. the carbide shatters when you hit something hard

Look for a renegade blade, they are specifically designed for trimmers. They are light weight and offer a wide variety of blades.
You should know.. It does matter which way the blade goes

@@thedoubtfultechnician8067 IKR? Then you have to add a V-8 engine, and those make the hand trimmer a bit heavier.

I have bamboo too and this is a great idea. Thanks
Wow. From the why didn't I think of that files: learning how to get into a plastic package with a torch. Thank you.
Around 26 years or such ago when I was a teen I used to work at a farm and they used that hack to trim thick branches and little trees.

Lol I liked that little tim allen at the end lol , pretty entertaining
I need some thing not so hard core
I’d really recommend a cordless looper or pruner

@4:12 - this is exactly the kind of content the internet was made for.

That’s fun and all, but all you needed to do was dig a trench where you want the bamboo to stop and put a barrier so that the roots won’t get through.
Can't see any problem.
Info great, very good sense of humor. I subscribed!😂
Love your video style! Great commentary!
Not to shit on the awesomeness of this device, but any reason a chain saw or reciprocating saw with tree blade would not work for this application?
I mean if you wanna hunch over and crawl around in the brush, sure
@@thedoubtfultechnician8067 Of course, I meant a chain saw with a 30" bar.

A 24" bar works great for brushing unless you are tall.
"I don't live in California. I live in America " 🇺🇸 Ha, love it
5/16 twisted wire cable instead of string works also
…..what happens if the saw thingy comes off the end….
I notice alot of the cheap Chinese batt trimmers come with a circular saw blade .
Oh no, you've got bamboo! I'd just sell the house.
How can I convert electric corded weedeater into brush cutter
If you want it gone you're going to have to rip out the bamboo by the roots
Great video, nice and funny at the same time 😅.
lmao at song choice
also not bad...but i think i have other ideas of how to cut bamboo that aren't so risky...and also serve more than one purpose.

A gas lawn mower produces like 10 cars worth of emissions for the same amount of time.
I can’t find the G spot?
Did you nit try the big one

I'm curious about bamboo growing at your place. What state do you live in?
PA

blowguns!
There are ready Carbide blade for weed eater
You can't fix stupid but you can sell it a Milwaukee battery operated weed eater
I too burn things open
posso darti un paio di consigli?
Buying premixed fuel is insane.
For lots of people that’s the only way to get ethanol free gas without driving 50 miles. Ever leave 15% ethanol gas in your weedwacker for a few months?
Except if you live in communist Canada where ethanol free fuel was outlawed.
For the love of God do not do this at home. If that shaft uses a cable instead of a solid core you'll ruin the shaft. If the motor isn't powerful enough that's the end of your trimmer.
The blade I ended up with weighs less than the original trimmer head.
Those carbide tipped blades cut good until you hit a rock and the tips break off
Not hard enough
Worthless after that 😢
😂😂😂 blow torch was needed
entertaining. educational. new sub
Too funny..doing it the dumb manly way..i yhought only old people or women said the "thingy thang!"
Yea my dad hit a old t post metal in his leg
My man, don't ever put the blowtorch over the carbide teeth, even as a joke. You are going to anneal them and then you're going to lose the sharpness much quicker.
You’d sooner melt the braze than do any damage to the carbide.
Use a Milwaukee 18v skill saw…
why not just mix your own fuel? its a quarter the price?
Most places you can’t get ethanol free pump gas to make it. They couldn’t get away with charging $20/galloj for premix if it were THAT easy.

Just get proper brush cutter blade. Stihl makes good ones.
As long as it works
NICE
To be honest. This blade looks way to small. Especially for racoon pest control.
$20/gal.‽‽! Ethanol free is $5.00/gal at the gas station
