That was one of her most controversial videos, she got into some trouble but that's typical Gaga 😂
According to Gaga, the Alejandro was a tribute to her LGBT friends, celebrating their love and struggle/fight towards equality.
The music video is a commentary about conflict of Gaga's catholic upbringing VERSUS her love for the gay community. The video makes reference to Don't Ask Don't Tell (a policy where soldiers in the military were forced to keep their sexual orientation hidden or risk being discharged). In the video, Gaga is an ally to these gay soldiers (notice that the dancers are gay men--- but wearing soldier gear) and how Gaga fully consumates and surrenders herself to the gay community, whom she loves. The religious symbolism in the video expresses Gaga's frustration with the Catholic Church and how it can be very oppressive to the gay community. There's a scene of her being a nun in religious robes (supposed to be sacred and holy) but at the same time she is dancing and consummating with gay men who she loves and supports ----and at the end of the video she completely strips off her robes to become "one" with them.
Jay Gonzales There coukd be another meaning to the song. It may be a song about her relationship to a man was before she became a famous singer and mind you Lady Gaga knows her audoence well the song Alejandro it self is a very famous song in México.

Hey girls! In this song Gaga shows her fear of men and the way she gets hurt from them. Gaga has felt like an object from all these powerful men 'Alejandro Fernando Roberto' those names symbolize her boyfriends. She is saying goodbye to those dominant powerful men in her life and the use of crosses show the battle between light and dark. She shows her fear of men (strong military men who use her) but at the same time she shows that she can stand up and be the boss (she is the queen). I hope u see the sense now in those men using her and the whole thing.
another interpretation that's been going around is that Gaga is comparing today's society to Nazi Germany in the ways that we treat the minorities especially the LGBT community. The video touches on the ideas of politics, around the time this video was shot 'Don't ask, Don't tell' was still enforced within the military which was a law that didn't allow gay soldiers to openly serve in the military (hence the idea of men in heels and there interactions with Gaga as they pretend to be straight. There was also a case where a gay soldier was left to die on the field because he was gay which is where the funeral and the ghostly figure comes into play). There is also the element of religion within the video where Gaga is seen swallowing a rosary which I read could be symbolic for people who just accept and don't question the doctrine of their churches and religions about how it's a sin and an abomination to be gay. and the puppet strings that she has attached to her when she wears the latex nun outfit is a statement on these extremists who use God in the name of hate and how they have no control over what they think as they deem everything that their priests and churches (the puppeteers) say to be true.
not true I don't know where you get this from but Gaga has explained the meaning of the video, gaga had a boyfriend who happened to be gay and gaga found out that's why at the beginning she says "I know that we're young and I know that you may love me but I just can't be like this anymore, Alejandro " the heart and funeral represents the love she had for his boyfriend "Alejandro" and how he killed that love she felt for her, his boyfriend apparently cheated with Fernando and Roberto that's why she sings "don't call my name " she decided to not get angry with the hole lgbtq community and wanted to be a voice for them to come out of the closet and prevent situations like this to happend, also the militar and religious symbolism represents ww2 and the Catholic church massacring gays so basically the video is support for the lgbtq and combined with the song is like a voice to come out.
Gaga made this song for her friend Alexander McQueen (wich was also a fashion designer very famous). He died a couple of years ago and Gaga made this video, representing the judgmment thinking of some religious people about lgbtq community

Gaga's swallowing of the rosary signifies how people just accept and swallow up the doctrine of the church that says being gay is wrong, they adhere to it without question.
The German theme - there is something very ominous about the german theme reminiscent of nazi germany; this paired with the reference to the church signify how gay men and women are shunned in todays society by the church, the army and other organizations just as the Jews were by Nazi. The nun outfit Gaga wears signifies how love can be a salvation just as how Christians believe dedicating your life to God can save you.
