    Gday Adam,
I have just stumbled across your channel today and the first thing I have seen is your heartfelt plea for people to keep going on. To open yourself up in that way, so close after losing a mate is huge, you are to be congratulated. I share a similar back story, and have a group of blokes that I catch up with for "fellowship" lunches (meat, wine, shit talk) but most of all we open up. At nearly 50 I had never done this. Felt like I was alone, until I found these mates who felt the same. It's never too late and bloody well done man. Oh, and I love the fishing too. We all do. Tight lines mate.

Hi Adam, I’ve watched your videos for a little while now and commented from time to time.
I’m struggling to articulate my thoughts here. Firstly, my condolences for what it’s worth. I too suffer depression and have gone down that road of wanting to cease existence. You spoke about it in a way that really hit home for me. I was sitting I front of the tv glassy eyed nodding to every word you said. Mental health is so hard and I had no idea you’ve been through it as well. The way to spoke about it was basically word for word my experience. I’ve had the conversation where I’m telling someone the same things you said. Uncanny hey. I have huge respect for you and I’m really proud of you. Not just for talking about it but for fighting each and every day and doing you best to find joy in life. It’s not easy for many of us.
I’m a Brisbane boy so if I ever see you around the Redlands I’d like yo shake your hand and buy you a beer.

Thank you for this msg. It is hard to be broken but bound to life . Finding something that makes you happy that includes exercise helps our serotonin levels. It just sucks when there feels like your totally depleted. Family is my only reason to strive to survive. I need more mates tbh we all do.
I am so sorry for your loss Adam. Your msg is powerful .

Thanks Adam for the tribute to your mate. Far too often men choose to bottle up their feelings and not express how they feel for fear of being ridiculed. I live in Sarah’s home town and work nearby in the Kimberley. In my line of work, I have seen the devastating effect that suicide has on families and them having to deal with the fallout after a loved one has passed.
Rest assured, I follow your and Sarah’s adventures religiously which puts a smile on my dial. Thank you👍😎

I’ve walked with the black dog and struggle with ptsd & anxiety. Sometimes I can't go out, not because I don't want to, but because I can't bare to walk into a room full of people or into a public place. Sometimes I'm fighting back tears, or I feel so nauseated from anxiety and struggle to breathe, I over think things, I feel everyone hates me. I do take things personally alot. I get grumpy because I need a brake but, I need a break from my mind itself which isnt possible, I fight to get out of bed nearly every morning & sometimes cry myself to sleep . My mind is traumatised and my memory is foggy & absolutely full of triggers. But I'm healing with time, my main GOAL atm is my happiness and luckily for me I can do it alone but...
Some people are quick to label you a shitty friend with no clue how broken you are, or act like you ain't doing anything but really your healing and instead of understanding they just call the friendship quits.
There are many people that are invited out but they tell them how terribly sorry they are but there already booked up that weekend, when they are actually just really busy holding it together in their safe box. And so the first problem starts, all by itself. People stop asking them and the isolation that at first wasn't true becomes their only truth

Full strength to you mate. Been fighting the Black Dog for a long time and each day's a struggle. The 10 free visits a year get you just starting to rolling then the door is shut and you're out in the dark again. I think you and Powerfish should catch up as only good things could come from that.
Personally I'm in the process of going bush, because nothing's working and I have to do something to make sure my missus and kids are safe from my moods and rampages.

Tough topic. I've been there at rock bottom.
Had it all worked out. No one talks about their own drama.
I sat with a mate and started to tell him. He started to talk over me so I said "shut up and listen" told him why and how. I wasn't in a good place. The only thing that snapped me out was my only 18 month old son.
I thought "he needs a dad"
Nothing else matters. He needs love like we all do.
I lost my dad suddenly a few months later.
    Now I enjoy life.

It is good to hear from someone who has been there mate. I have lost two friends to suicide, my dad two years ago, and my 43 year old son passed after a terribly painful six month battle with cancer this Feb. I have always been a high achiever and full of energy but losing my son caused the black bitch to hit with a vengeance. Without my wife, two other children and grand children, I don't know if I'd still be here. Despite many friends offering to lend a listening ear, most men really are reluctant to talk about mental health. They ask how you are and naturally you say "not bad" so as not to burden them. You can see the relief on their face when you don't turn into a blubbering mess and they quickly go on to discuss anything but the elephant in the room. I guess they are trying to cheer you up. You hear them talking but that blank stare tells them that you listen but nobody's home. Your message has made a difference mate so thanks so much for putting yourself out there. I'm not sure that things will be better tomorrow or the next day as nothing can fill the void left by my boy's passing but in the meantime, I enjoy your videos and have a whole more lot of respect for you and your friends. Take care mate.

I know that dark place all to well, I have lived there most days for the last 12 months. When you lose your identity of who you are as a man through no fault of your own, you find yourself treading mud everyday withdrawing from the world. I was taught to bottle it up don't show how your dying inside, you find yourself being an empty shell of who you were, and it's like your watching down on yourself existing not living. And that's when you find yourself fighting the internal statement "NOBODY WILL MISS YOU" and "HOW CAN ANYONE LOVE YOU", "YOUR NOT WORTH SHIT". All the negative statements that we make to ourself justifying our position that we would be better of dead, is all because of the unhealthy mental upbringing that a lot of us have had. I was never taught how to cope with my emotions and because of that I really do struggle to get to the next day, everyone is quick to put you down not knowing the crap that's going on between my ears and it seems funny to them. Am I ok, no I'm not!!!!! So not to disappoint my father and mother I drag my ass to my shrink every few days and I take my pills and I try to make it to the next day. I'm a 50yr old man that is speaking up here because your story touched me and I want others to see no one is immune from this! Please be careful of your words as they really can do so much unseen damage. Adam I congratulate and salute you for taking the time to share a part of your life that you otherwise would not do, and it is in this moment you have shown that there really is a very real person underneath the persona that we normally see of your and your family. R.I.P to your mate, and to everyone that is not feeling ok please we all a have a phone call a mate or 13 32 64 god knows its helped me a lot.

That would of been tough to do Adam, not only opening up in public but as a Mate of the guy who passed, along with knowing how he felt yourself. I've been down that Dingo den myself a number of times as well not due to anything else other than depression.
Men need to realize that they are not alone and that it does not make them soft or less of a man to speak about it.
Suicide might end a fleeting pain at a certain point in time for the individual, but it leaves a lifetime of pain for those who loved them and thought of them as Mates.
Nobody is truly alone really, just reach out to somebody close to you.

The government doesn't do enough for healthcare let alone mental health which I strongly think needs to be a priority. I encourage everyone to do this exercise: Pretend for a moment you are suicidal and decide you need immediate help - Find out who you should call / where you should go right now and see how difficult it is to find the answer. I'm not talking about phone counselling (which can help) - The govt needs to make this situation as easy as possible. Please don't reply with the answer for the next few weeks, just reply with how long it took to find the answer... or if you actually did find an answer at all.

I am no psychologist but your message resonated with me. Please reach out to me because I think you can help me as much as I can help you.
Love your program and yes it has me to remain sane in my move from Melbourne to Cairns

well said brother. every employer these days seems to be a big advocate for ruok days etc, but, while they mean well, they make it so public nobody is ever going to raise an issue whilst the spotlight is shining. I think your words would do more than 1000 of those days and probably because you know all about it like alot of us do. There are alot of pressures in the world today.
