  • Which rowing machine is right for you?
Rowing machines are the ideal fitness machines if you want to exercise your whole body. The rowing movement uses all the major muscle groups of your legs, trunk, back and arms, allowing you to train 80% of the muscles in your entire body with a single row.
Rowing strengthens your supporting muscles and therefore also your posture. And, if you spend a lot of time sitting down at work, rowing is great for exercising your back and preventing back pain.
The special thing about training with a rowing machine is that rowing is not just an endurance or strength exercise, but a combination of the two. Rowing trains and therefore improves your strength endurance. Along with the advantages mentioned above, this is also ideal for burning calories and keeping your cardiovascular system going. Plus, rowing is easy on your joints as the movement is very fluid.
Rowing machines are therefore equally suitable for overweight people, beginners and ambitious and competitive rowers. You can ‘just’ clear your head while rowing or you can get stuck into a real workout. You can choose between different training options and intensities with high levels of resistance and different intervals.
But which rowing machine is right for you? There are differences in the resistance system, the display and display functions, seat height and stability.
All Kettler models offer a high level of stability during exercise. The seat height is particularly high on some models, which makes it more convenient for older people when getting on and off, but otherwise makes no difference. The high-quality displays show your training performance, such as calorie consumption, stroke frequency, exercise time and heart rate, meaning you can also do heart rate controlled training.
With the resistance system, you can choose between a system with manual magnetic braking or one using water resistance. The following applies to both: the stronger and faster you row, the higher the resistance - just like on the water with a real oar. The resistance on Kettler rowing machines is always even and there are no so-called ‘dead points’ that are uncomfortable during exercise.
The water resistance system creates a particularly realistic rowing sensation. The AQUAROWER 700 in the Kettler video is one such rowing machine. An impeller ensures that there is direct and consistent resistance for the entire rowing stroke. The two-chamber system in the tank means that the amount of water between the two chambers can be changed. The water is distributed between the chambers: the more water there is in the active chamber, the higher the resistance. So you can easily adjust the intensity before, as well as during training. It all depends on how strenuously you want to exercise, or whether you’re doing interval training, for example.
Kettler’s rowing machines are fitted with rollers, so they’re easy to move and can be placed vertically, which means you can put the machine against a wall or in the corner once you’ve finished training.
Please bear in mind, however, that it is important to learn the correct rowing technique. Without the right technique, you run the risk of injury. Therefore, please make sure that you familiarise yourself with this before you start exercising.
