Late to the party but that story about the leather oud is hilarious. Took me a minute to realize what a scrubber was. But when you said u had to wash off what you had sprayed on I knew exactly what you meant. Have had that experience several times. Mostly with blind buys I was trying to convince myself I liked. Ugh!!! 😷

And then you put two Christian Diors on the list and I kept thinking yes you're going to make this your number one too, but you came up with something really weird. So much fun to hear your list and reasons.
I'm glad you note how subjective fragrances are, as fig is one of my all time favorite notes, and Breath of God is one of my favorite fragrances (although I layer it with a *fig* fragrance and a musk). Works great with my body chemistry. Have you tried L'Occitane's Eau des Baux?
Doc, I just subscribed recently and I love this. Great idea for a video. You should do more of these when something nasty whiffs your way. That or - what if you did a video about scents for women that guys can wear? I recently heard that some frag heads (men) wear light blue for women - and I gotta say, it's way better than light blue for men and under a niche label it'd be unisex. And when you think about it, reviewing womens frags is a whole new world of scenes for you & your nose.

Issey Miyake Sport is one of my best smelling frags..I garner so many compliments while I'm out at parties, get togethers, restaurants and etc. Its fresh ,clean and PROJECTS LIKE A MONSTER !!! I currently own over 300 bottles of fragrances and I own at least 7 bottles of L'eau Dissey Issey Miyake Sport.. It's so true that Everyone's Body Chemistry is totally different.

Dracdoc, I hear you on the HM....However, please don't overlook HiM by Hanae Mori. It's a 9/10 for me and absolutely incredible. If you like Gucci Pour Homme II, I feel certain you'll love it. Some days, I like it better than GPH II. It's a very complex fragrance and the notes blend so well together. When I wear it to the grocery or shopping, I swear I notice people attempting to get closer to me because they like it so much. If I had a cologne definition of "expensive" or "has money", it would be HiM. If you get a chance to try it, let me know what you think. Better yet, you can always review it. :).

Having said that, I can honestly say that Only the Brave is the best one they make. And that's not saying much.

Oh and Joop Homme smells like burning plastic and candy but I think it's the scent memories of not being able to breath in High School because of people over spraying it that makes that scent so much worse to me... ^_^ Great video brutha...
I don't want to call this a hated fragrance, but I don't really care for Creed's Royal Oud. I almost blind bought it for my dad, but decided to play it safe and get a sample first. Glad I did. It's just too spicy in the opening, it almost makes me sick. I feel like it makes me smell like an Indian guy for some reason lol. It's a 3ml sample that I've only sprayed like 3 times since I got it about 2 weeks ago. I still smell the decant every once in awhile to see if I start to like it. I will admit that the dry down isn't too bad, though. I ended up getting him Aventus, which is much fresher smelling in my opinion. Funny thing is when I first smelled Aventus, I didn't really like it. I had never smelled a Creed before and didn't really know what to expect. I was probably looking for a designer-ish smell in my head, which Creeds do not have. As I used the sample more, I started loving it. Now it's a scent that I can't get out of my head sometimes

Have you ever tried Dune by Dior? I’m talking about the women’s version. That is the easily the worst fragrance I have ever smelled and I’d like to know your opinion on it. Before I smelled it, I thought people that claimed they got headaches from fragrance were exaggerating, however I was wrong. This fragrance not only gave me a piercing headache, but it made me feel like my throat was closing up. Almost like I was being choked from the inside. My initial guess is that I’m allergic to something in it so I’d like to hear your take on it to be sure.
Funny you mentioned accidentally buying Animale. I almost made the same mistake with Animale last month in a perfume shop in florida. I am sooo glad I made the SA open the packaging so I could spray it on my hand first!
Hahah only once I had an issue with a Fragrance at work and scrubbed & scrubbed to get it off my skin. The Duane Reade hand sanitizer took the scent away in seconds. If you ever find yourself in that nightmare just use hand sanitizer to take the scent away.
So glad Fahrenheit is not on your list and I know you're not a big fan. I used to hate LIDGE big time, when I got it it would nauseate me right after the opening. I got around to loving it eventually. Another one that I just can't stand which hasn't changed my taste for it, and probably won't, is YSL Opium. Practically all of the 100+ samples I bought off Luckyscent from the supposed 'best' in the business! Among them, Duro, Acqua Zucchero and Comanndante gave me the worst headaches, lol. Apple Brandy, Enchanted forest, Tobacco vanille and Aventus probably the only good/great samples I've tried but they're about all I need really.
I went to Macy's looking for a winter cologne. The lady there gave me 15 samples in succession, one of them being l'eau d'issey pour homme. At the time, it seemed alright. As soon as I walked outside, I was pissed. I smelled like an old lady and cleaning products. The scent really stuck, too. Maybe it was because its a pretty strict summer cologne and the lady didn't know what she was doing. I've since gone with D&G the one as I've worn pi in the past and wanted something warm like that, but toned down. I bought Lacoste essential for the summertime.

i'm actually from new York and I feel on the smells of the city. My worst is Aramis. I used to love it when I was young but when I put it on, it was loud and did not go with my ph. Like the videos but I haven't seen what you would recommend for 2015. thanks
I just blind bought a fragrance from an independent house and it smells just like the bathroom cleaner Comet. It's called Beet Root, and it is is virile, and made me sick to my stomach. I was in the process of filming a first impression and had to stop filming. It was really bad.
I have issey intense and I must say at first I did not like this but it really grew on me. Im not big on the peppery smell but once it drys down its nice. Great for chilly days

dracdoc what do you think about perfume oils ? they are much cheaper because you dont pay for the expensive bottles and the name on the bottle. and the the oils are more long lasting then any other edt. please let me know,

I have both Issey Miyake L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme regular and the sport version and I cannot tell the difference. I think the sport may stay on me longer but that is about it. However, I don't consider myself a connoisseur of fragrances so maybe that is why. Ha.
Good brother this video was a great service to all. Thank u. as for Musc Rav I worked with it for 6th month. I had 30ml I used 10ml and thru it in the trash couldnt hack it. I also got a decant of M7. It smelled like a really old persons house. U know like that 85 90 year old relative trashed that too.
w00t ?. Lancome Hypnôse is an awesome fragrance, i've gotten many compliments from wearing it. But i guess you're allergic or just doens't like something in it. But it's definitely not a bad smelling fragrance and it should be noted. Actually whenever someone who is interested in getting into fragrances is asking for a good starter, i often recommend Hypnôse because its a fragrance not many uses (people use Le Male to death) and going around smelling like everyone else won't get you noticed. I would actually say that Le Male is MY least favorite fragrance, or among them, simply because its overused... everywhere - completely destroyed by overuse.
Great video.About the Diesel Fuel For Life, that was my exact same reaction.It's too damn sweet.There are other sweet fragrances that i like but Fuel For Life is just wrong.
A leather Oud Scent seemed like it would be lush, shame it failed on a monumental scale. Couldn't agree more. Still have yet to find something that smells nicer than Aventus/Oud Wood TF
Here we go this starts hate mongering of fragrances that some people actually like. Not everyone have the same taste in fragrance or skin chemistry. As a collector I buy something that I like and I'm going to wear. Your review and your opinion I respect that.
HM surprised me, that is one I was dieing to try but smelled like straight cinnamon on my skin? I am not a fan but it still surprised me probably because of a fair amount of love in the community. I'm surprised Mark Jacobs Bang didn't show up anywhere. Two opinions from frags mentioned in somebody's comment - Le Male is too cloying n sweet, agreed with that yuckee, but A*men is still a winner, to each his own
There's very few men's fragrances I vehemently hate. It's granny perfumes like Red Door, Jicky and Sunflowers I truly can't stand. Although I did smell a cheap knockoff of Allure Homme Sport once, which made me so physically sick that I can't even go near the real thing anymore, it just brings back horrible memories >(
Vids like this are always fun aren't they, lol. Leather Oud Rocks! Secretions ain't that bad come on man, haha. It actually dries down to something pleasant if you can believe that, lol Not a fan of hypnose either. Sometimes patchouli in a fragance just makes the composition feel ill to me.
Some people I know have a visceral reaction to montale cuir d'arabie, which I kind of get because of the wet sour opening. But then it settles into an excellent frag. But most people scrub it off within the first 5 min and don't give it a chance
leau de issey sport is one of my favorite fragrances for summer. Maybe it's the nutmeg and/or leather you don't care for. Outside of those two notes it's pretty close to the original or any other Issey Summer flanker.

Thanks for the reply Doc. I ended up giving it away as a "gift" lol. Versace Dreamer is the first blind buy fail in 30 attempts. I blind buy based on reviews from guys that have similar taste that I do. I enjoy your reviews very much Doc...along with Cutless Supreme and Marc the Guru/JR Writer/Street Scents and Franchizzy. dracdoc what do you think about perfume oils ? they are much cheaper because you dont pay for the expensive bottles and the name on the bottle. and the the oils are more long lasting then any other edt. please let me know,

Marc Jacobs Bang has got to be the worst smelling fragrance I've smelled. I put it on bc I had a free sample and it gave me a sinus infection.
Nice vids man. Big fan of your articulate reviews. I'm just getting into the collecting scene (20+ bottles) and noticed right off that I do not like clary sage in fragrances. Would you be interested in swapping my 3.3oz of Versace Dreamer (Lot# 1113009) in exchange for your Hypnose or Fuel for Life? I have both Issey Miyake L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme regular and the sport version and I cannot tell the difference. I think the sport may stay on me longer but that is about it. However, I don't consider myself a connoisseur of fragrances so maybe that is why. Ha.
Good brother this video was a great service to all. Thank u. as for Musc Rav I worked with it for 6th month. I had 30ml I used 10ml and thru it in the trash couldnt hack it. I also got a decant of M7. It smelled like a really old persons house. U know like that 85 90 year old relative trashed that too.

I agree with Issey Sport. It does have a rotted citrus smell. I would not recommend it to blind buy. However, my gf loves it a lot. Go figure... lol
Any opinions on Quorum by Puig? I think it smells like an old man carrying a pine tree but I love it.

w00t ?. Lancome Hypnôse is an awesome fragrance, i've gotten many compliments from wearing it. But i guess you're allergic or just doens't like something in it. But it's definitely not a bad smelling fragrance and it should be noted.
Actually whenever someone who is interested in getting into fragrances is asking for a good starter, i often recommend Hypnôse because its a fragrance not many uses (people use Le Male to death) and going around smelling like everyone else won't get you noticed.
I would actually say that Le Male is MY least favorite fragrance, or among them, simply because its overused... everywhere - completely destroyed by overuse.
Great video.About the Diesel Fuel For Life, that was my exact same reaction.It's too damn sweet.There are other sweet fragrances that i like but Fuel For Life is just wrong.

A leather Oud Scent seemed like it would be lush, shame it failed on a monumental scale. Couldn't agree more. Still have yet to find something that smells nicer than Aventus/Oud Wood TF

Here we go this starts hate mongering of fragrances that some people actually like. Not everyone have the same taste in fragrance or skin chemistry. As a collector I buy something that I like and I'm going to wear. Your review and your opinion I respect that.

HM surprised me, that is one I was dieing to try but smelled like straight cinnamon on my skin? I am not a fan but it still surprised me probably because of a fair amount of love in the community. I'm surprised Mark Jacobs Bang didn't show up anywhere. Two opinions from frags mentioned in somebody's comment - Le Male is too cloying n sweet, agreed with that yuckee, but A*men is still a winner, to each his own
There's very few men's fragrances I vehemently hate. It's granny perfumes like Red Door, Jicky and Sunflowers I truly can't stand. Although I did smell a cheap knockoff of Allure Homme Sport once, which made me so physically sick that I can't even go near the real thing anymore, it just brings back horrible memories >(

Vids like this are always fun aren't they, lol. Leather Oud Rocks! Secretions ain't that bad come on man, haha. It actually dries down to something pleasant if you can believe that, lol Not a fan of hypnose either. Sometimes patchouli in a fragance just makes the composition feel ill to me.
Some people I know have a visceral reaction to montale cuir d'arabie, which I kind of get because of the wet sour opening. But then it settles into an excellent frag. But most people scrub it off within the first 5 min and don't give it a chance
I use Rue 21 CJ Black cologne. It smells so amazing.
I like my Issey Miyake Sport body wash but the Dior Leather Oud story was very funny.
leau de issey sport is one of my favorite fragrances for summer. Maybe it's the nutmeg and/or leather you don't care for. Outside of those two notes it's pretty close to the original or any other Issey Summer flanker.
