    I fished our local Oakwood Striper Club's May tournament for a friend because he had obligations elsewhere. This was so he wouldn't lose ground in the yearly points standings.
    I didn't get all worked up like I usually do when fishing tournaments and just went with an open mind and a plan. Well that plan worked out perfectly and I couldn't have scripted it better really.
    Pretty much had the tournament wrapped up and won by 10am with the 2 biggest fish entered. One hour later another member pointed out a a problem with the way I write out the tournament qualifier number which is one of the security measures to ensure nobody cheats. As soon as I seen the issue I went from Cloud 9 to Dumpster #9 in a matter of minutes because I knew the fish weren't gonna count! The rules are clear that the number has to be written correctly and clearly otherwise the submitted pictures will not count, others have been DQ'd in the past for similar issues and the ruling stood so I knew it was a done deal after that. I didn't fight it or make a huge stink over it, what's done is done and rules are rules 🙁

      Me too 😆 Hopefully sometime over the next 6 months it will be a reality 👍
      I just bought a newer much bigger boat with wayyyy more space so tge new videos when everything is setup should be pretty sweet with a good range of visual inclusion of all things going on within the boat

      Thank you, Michael. I appreciate the good words, man!
      I fished out of a 14ft Jon boat for about 3 years on Lanier. It had its challenges but it was a ton of fun on its own way, especially when you latch on to a good 25+lb striper 😊

    Why did the big fish stock drop in 17-18?

    • @JerseycatsFishing
      @JerseycatsFishing  Год назад

      There was actually a handful of factors that lead to the decline. One of the biggest factors were gill lice showing up in the lake and the big fish didn't handle them well and most of our 15+lb fish died off. We also had back to back summers of poor water quality due to an overabundance of rain which contributed to no thermocline being set in the water columns those summers and without that goldylocks zone for them to survive the summer even more big fish died

    Why does everyone release these stripers - good table fair - is there mercury in the water

      I'm not a fan of freshwater stripers for eating. To each his own 😊

    What size split shot?

    • @JerseycatsFishing
      @JerseycatsFishing  7 месяцев назад

      I use all different sizes depending on the bait in using and the depth of the fish, but if I was to choose the one I use the most, it would be #5 removable splitshots from water gremlin
