My high-school GF had CvS2 for the GameCube. You know what sucks? Playing fighting games with Nintendo's avant-garde controllers. Now that they've got controllers that'll actually accomodate fighting game inputs, Nintendo players finally get to feast.
I honestly think if the license didn't expired back in the 2000s we would've seen a Gamecube version of mvc2 along with the other two consoles at the time. Probably would've been better than the Ps2 one, but it will be slightly on par with the Xbox version (especially not having online).
I've been playing deadlock in higher mmr and think about making content for it. Just feels gross designing stuff like that in my head and makes me not want to.

Also Cyttorak has even cameo into marvel's other ips by being considered part of the "manny angled ones" which is like Marvel's version of lovecraftian gods, which allowed Cyttorak to appear in Conan's comics which is a full circle because Shuma Gorath started as a Conan deity before Marvel re absorbed it as a chaos god in their super hero comics.
Also there are seven other deities that have their own artifacts that empower Earthlings as their chosen avatars. The group as a whole is known as the Octessence.
Stuff like this goes back to SF2. Canceling normals into specials was considered a glitch, but it wound up defining how SF2 and future fighting games would play to this day.

It didn't turn out so well the first time they did a digital release. It was unable to be bought for over a decade until last week since it got delisted. The point of people buying physical copies to have not only backup copies for preservation, ease of use in tournaments with shoddy internet, having access to them in case they get delisted again like how the Cowabunga Collection is already gone from Japanese stores, owning the Punisher arcade game for the first time, high profit potential in secondhand markets...there are plenty of reasons to buy this physically. I personally got 2 copies on preorder. One to play, one to keep sealed.
Glitches are the bread and butter of capcoms genius tbh. Like dmc combat came from a glitch they found while developing onimusha if I’m remembering correctly.
There's one thing that I like in the Dreamcast version, and it's the single player content. With you having to open the characters. When I didn't have anyone to play I used to delete my save and open them all over again. It was really fun.
We should start telling Capcom to add the Capcom Fighting All-Stars unfinished build and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max instead of Upper in the upcoming collection, maybe they'll listen.
I could’ve swore it was tilted on the PS2 as well, but I recently went to an arcade with a MvC2 cabinet and I think that one was normal so… maybe it was a PS2 quirk?
Weirdly enough I've never had any issues with getting matches, but that is probably because I'm only playing casual matches because I'm not good enough for ranked yet.
The thing with this collection is, i have absolut zero clue what is going on on the screen : everything is flashing and exploding, 100 characters activating their super at the same time, chars jumping in and out, chars constantly talking... very exhausting and hella confusing to watch...
They fixed Juggernaut Glitch and brought it back, and they fixed the Ranking text being tilted incorrectly! Now all they need to do is fix Sentinel and his tendency to "UN-UN-UN-UN-UN-UNIT DESTROYED." and then this is absolute PERFECTION. And even then, they fixed the most important bug, which affects gameplay, Sentinel's audio doesn't affect the gameplay lol
Juggy was always my 1st support character since 2000 and noticed the "Power-Up" glitch not working in my first 5 matches. So glad the powerhouse is back

I'm curious, is there a market for a version of this game, like a Marvel vs. Capcom "2.5" that would be the MvC2 game, but a bunch of balances that reign in the God-Tiers and some minor buffs to the mid tiers? Like, still have characters that are good, characters that are bad, but the balance is much closer so there's more incentive to playing characters you like, not just characters you have to.
No one would buy it tbh. Balancing basically is neutering the top tiers. I get why balancing exists but I think after a while you're just over doing it and it kills player progression at high levels. The highest level of MVC2 can be some of the most intense fast-paced and extremely creative gameplay you'll see in the FGC.
I wonder if they also fixed Thanos' broken ending in Marvel Super Heroes. The pictures work as intended, but it displays Magneto's name and text from his ending, and then loops it once.
They should definitely leave the game exactly how it was originally designed. Maybe except the Gambit glitch..... That seems more than fair to get rid of

Correct me if I'm wrong. (Usually play MvC2 offline, haven't found the confidence to get Wazzler'd online yet.) But it feels like they've toned down the AI as well, somewhat. IDK. Pre-patch, it felt like the AI had some sort of third-eye blocks and input reads going on. Even on the lowest difficulty, landing a hit felt like a major achievement.
i always love it, imagine playing a magneto storm or strider doom chip cheese and they spent like all that time chipping you and putting you into infinites, spending energy pressing the button thousands to time , and then a ray of hope comes in , for 2 milliseconds they left there full healthy spamming psylocks or captain commando and bam level 3 hyper team super bye bye half the team lol
That's just a style of exaggerated animation in the Marvel series. I always found it kind of funny but somewhat understandable because bones in the hand aren't as neutral as most depictions of Wolverine make them to be.
It still has deficiencies they need to have an option to allow the infinites for Cyclops / Wolverine in Xmen v SF. Do it before it gets cosigned to history !

This is why you delay physical releases. These fixes should be ON the disc/cart when they come put in November instead of being an update that needs to be downloaded.

No, not quite. Combos where you link attacks were always intended (jump attack > sweep wasn't ever a bug), the bug was special cancels.

Thats why I'm of the opinion that Devs should look at some glitches as mechanics and not consistently look at all of them as something to patch out.

The Thanos bubble infinite can not be mashed btw - that's one of the only capture style infinites in the game that can't be mashed out of
