I concur 100% that Kotzen is brilliant and an amazing musician indeed! I saw 2 live shows of him in Tokyo (Solo and with the Winery Dogs). A VERY underrated musician considering his high level of talent and acheivements.
I was lucky enough to go to a tiny social club in Whitsable nearly 20 years ago, where Cornford were launching the RK signature amp. Richie Kotzen, Stevie Salas and Dave Kilminster were all onstage jammin' Hendrix to about 200 people in a tiny room with no stage, bad carpet and a PA System with no engineer (they were adjusting it themselves onstage). I chatted briefly with Kotzen at the bar afterwards, he was very friendly and signed my Poison "Native Tongue" album (yes, he was in Poison before Mr. Big). I was so excited and told everyone - but no-one knew who I was talking about. Now seeing this, other people have actually heard of him too!
I met Richie through a VIP package at a concert. He signed my RK signature Tele and RK5 Flyrig pedal. One of the best times of my life! Also had much to do with the person I was with at the show! Total perfection all around!
I was very impressed that he rocks out on the Tele, much props to anyone who utilizes that guitar to such an amazing rock tone. It truly has a distinct sound, like a Les Paul, but snarlier, yes that's a word, which I think is where that "tone" you were referring to comes from. Very few successful players choose the Telecaster for that sound but I love it. Thanks for turning me on to him! I had never been really made aware, historically not my genre, the bands he was in but that "Fooled Again" is amazing all the way around. One of my new all time fave songs. Thank You!
I agree that Richie is probably the best everything music. My all time favorite guitarist, Singer, songwriter ever. No one else is even close. I have his Tele, Red Strat and RK5. I need this amp and will have it. I'll make it happen for darn sure. All of his gear is as top notch as he is.
Oh wow man this might be my favorite victory ive heard yet great videos as always and im a true fan of you guys man I think your the only music store that actually has fans im from the US and still a fan of yours I mean you guys are seriously famous have you ever really sat down and thought about that but great video as always just the best ones hands down on youtube seriously the nost engaging best videos on guitars anywhere on youtube and you guys havent steared me wrong yet and everything has been pretty spot on cant ask for more then that good job guys keep it up im sure you will
I just got an RK50 on Friday and I’m enjoying it so far. I’ve got a Les Paul and a Telecaster and both have their own great sound out of it. While I like Richie’s tone I’m trying to see what I can get out of it.
dear rob: can you make a video talking about how you got into victory amps? i never even heard of them before these channels. P.S. i loved your playing here!
Victory used to be a famous British boutique brand called Cornford that most high end gear geeks has heard of. A lot of people like me probably got into them because Guthrie Govan and Richie Kotzen used them back in the Cornford days.
THE! Hands down THE best! Kudos to Bret Michaels for enduring that. I mean, when the new guitar player has a voice that is a cross between Chris Cornell and Stevie Wonder, I mean...
Never heard of Richie Kotzen till now. Just watched a random youtube video and I'm sold within the first minute. Thanks Guys. Question for anyone -Best album to get first?
In my humble opinion - Check out 'Mother Heads family reunion' and '24 hours'. If your into the guitaring side of him the album 'Electric Joy' is worthwhile. The track 'Slow Blues' never gets old..Enjoy!
CJ and the Music Life electric joy is a very good album. It’s the bridge between his first 2 albums & what he’d later become. It’s an interesting progression going from full shred instrumental, to shred with vocals, then heavily blues influenced instrumental but still very shreds, to what he is now.
A bit of, hopefully constructive, criticism: if it is a demonstration of the amp you are going for, a camera on the control panel while talking about features would be really useful. You used to do this. Looking at a box and watching someone flail all over the fretboard at high gain while talking about the “haunting reverb” was pretty unstatisfying. I realise the focus here has become more about the personalities of the presenters, but the initial attraction to this channel for me was the balance of that with useful demonstration across clean tones, drive, effects, and with both single coils and hum buckers applied. There amount of editing around the mannerisms of the presenters now far outweighs the time put into really presenting the product. Great for those who watch to identify with the presenters (I watch live videos of band performances for that), but not so great for getting an understanding of the product.
For all of those of you that complain about this show/ channel..put up or shut up. If you dont like it dont watch. Go troll something like the Kardashians that actually have no talent. I like to find out about gear. Its almost irrelevant to me the skill of either of these 2. Although Rob can shred. Lee has got a decent feel. None of it offensive.sonic you can do better lets see where you amazing videos are.
I couldn't add a new comment to the " what do you want to see" Video. What I would love to see is videos from your tech department taking a few mule guitars to install new pickups in the same guitar to see how the tone changes. use the same amp with the tones set at noon. then adjust to get best tone. I know you sell pickups why not demo the dual coils in a epiphone lp and single coils in a strat. even get mini humbuckers and widerange tele types with all the different pickups you have in stock that should add up to a lot of videos. plus show the how to part for new guys who have never installed pickups before.
Lee’s playing is getting better and better rob can shred but he doesn’t do it at the right time. Not every jam track needs an 80s solo great playing tho love the channel
Great sounding amps. Not sure about heavy overdrive with tremolo. I'd probably run the amp clean and use pedals for gigs. It would have been nice to hear the amp with the gain set low. Thank you for the demo.
Could be a speaker thing, but I was preferring the lunchbox over the combo. I've got the Sheriff 44 and considering the V40... May need to A/B with one of these...
Hey Captain I still see you gravitate towards the old Gibson Paul what happened to the prs 594 single cut you never use it and you were the reason I bought mine do more videos with the prs please....
Richie Kotzen is the most diverse and talented guitar player of all times , I mean look his resume one year with Posion next with Stanley Clarke then with Mr Big even Ozzy and Chuck Berry wanted him in their bands i!!!
Lee said its a el34 amp but RiffCity says its 6l6 equipped yet can take el34’s... Is this a misunderstanding on my part or does it ship with different tubes to different regions?
I've been wanting to switch pickups in my PRS SE but I have been holding off because rumor has it that Friedman is going to announce pickup sets at NAMM
To hear you talk about Richie Kotzen, that's how I feel about Jason Isbell. If you haven't heard him, he is unreal. Look up Flying Over Water live, his tone is ridiculous. Hope you guys give him a listen. Not in the hard rock/metal genre at all, but good playing is good playing.
Joe Lindholm not in the same guitar playing league but i hear you, I really like Jason Isbell, and while we digress into some americana stuart mathis from lucinda williams band is an unbelievable player
fantastic! - not so much the amp, which sounds great - but the ''winery dogs'' - best £5 ever spent, Kotzen can sing like Chris Cornell!, but play brilliantly too. . The amp? well, I'd have appreciated some clean sounds, esp. with the Tremelo circuit, but it sounded very good.
I'm guessing it's intonation issues. They don't change the strings before they play guitars they grabbed off the wall and one of the guitars in this video is a Gibson guitar.
Chappers the kotzen song is You Cant CHANGE Me not you cant face me lol, kotzen was also in poison for honestly thier BY FAR best album fire and ice....also did jazz fusion albums with greg howe and jazzier albums with stanley clark called Vertu, AND his newest band winery dogs where he sings and is joined by billy sheehan and mike portnoy HE played with a pick on most of the stuff you have heard but stopped using a pick completely a few years and albums back ALSO HE PLEAYS EVERY INSTRUMENT AND PRODUCES HIS CD's drums, bass, guitar vocals and piano ALL HIM
I love simple amps they seem to have the best tones like an vox ac10 one of the best tones out there and its only a 10 watt amp but a very loud one lol it seems like the more dtuff on the amp the more interference with pure tone I.love amps that are simple zi mean zi like amps that have everything also but from my experience thenmore simple the better with tone and im meaning pure tone from the amp itself
Capt'n if i may be so bold as to suggest...hitting the mark on those slow bends a little sooner? If the "out-of-tune" part of the bend lasts too long, it grates on the ear.
Richie started as a Jason Becker type of player. At that time every new player was a bit like a shredding guitar player. I think Richie was trying to get in the music scene and just played what they aks him to play.
Great for me to hear that Rob thinks Richie Kotzen is the best guitar playing, singing, and all round Rock God to ever exist.... ( did he say that, or is it just me). For once Mr. Chapman I totally, totally, totally agree with you. Kotzen is indeed 'the dog's bollocks'. The whole package. I've started to play without a pick quite a bit in the last year or so.... Come on Rob. Throw the plectrum away, you know you want to... Oh yeah, and try it with all eq's at 12 'o' clock and a little bit of reverb..... Lol
He basically has a less metal version of the Cornell falsetto. But I honestly had always heard his name and never really investigated his playing. Jesus Christ can the dude wail.
Of course chappers love Richie kotzen. He's pretty much like his idol Chris Cornell 😁 ... His looks and voice have the same range but Richie is Cornell's classic Rock/blues genius twin brother 😋 ... Ian thornley, Richie kotzen and Chris Cornell could be brother because they all look a like 😁 all of them good singer and great guitar player.
Man Lee´s playing is getting better and better!
Innit (as I believe the kids would say!) Those lessons have paid off in SPADES!!!!!!
I haven't watched an Andertons vid in years. The difference is shocking.
Kotzen fan here for literally 2 decades now, glad to see you guys give him the respect he deserves :)
I concur 100% that Kotzen is brilliant and an amazing musician indeed! I saw 2 live shows of him in Tokyo (Solo and with the Winery Dogs). A VERY underrated musician considering his high level of talent and acheivements.
The captain meets Richie 2018 please
The Captain is getting his playing together. His solo was good.
I was lucky enough to go to a tiny social club in Whitsable nearly 20 years ago, where Cornford were launching the RK signature amp. Been waiting a loooong time for Richie to be on Andertons . Please make it so
Very nice showing the RK50 the love, Gents! I love ALL my Victory Amps and the RK50 head is just the newest edition! ❤️
Richie is an incredible player. Soulful and technical in one package.
I met Richie through a VIP package at a concert. He signed my RK signature Tele and RK5 Flyrig pedal. One of the best times of my life! Also had much to do with the person I was with at the show! Total perfection all around!
woudn`t it be the best christmas present from andertons to chappers to do a "... meets ritchie kotzen feat. chappers"?
Maybe Ritchie would have an RK5 in his bag.
Another good video guys! Great playing as usual, the original two are still terrific!
I was very impressed that he rocks out on the Tele, much props to anyone who utilizes that guitar to such an amazing rock tone. It truly has a distinct sound, like a Les Paul, but snarlier, yes that's a word, which I think is where that "tone" you were referring to comes from. he is on my top 10 if I had to list guitartists alive. and what a voice.
I really liked the outro jam, mimicking each others licks is pretty cool
Wow that's some of the best tones and playing from you two ever!
Some of robs most enjoyable playing of late, just looked like he was having more fun than usual!
Agree with everything Rob said about RK! He's had the career most musicians dream of. I was lucky enough to meet him and he's a really funny guy too.
I prefer the old jams, without the backing track
Glen Herman ten thousands times - yes yes yes!
I agree that Richie is probably the best everything music. My all time favorite guitarist, Singer, songwriter ever. No one else is even close. I have his Tele, Red Strat and RK5. I need this amp and will have it. I'll make it happen for darn sure. All of his gear is as top notch as he is.

Rob! my first Chapman Guitar (ML1-RS) will be here today! super excited man, thanks for everything you guys do, and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays
That outro jam was so mega! y’all definitely need to do more back and forth soloy stuff
The strat sounds epic through the Kotzen signature amp.
Wow! I didn't realise Rob was such a fan boy of RK. I've only just discovered him myself and I can see why.
2:43 am during finals week....looks like ill watch!
I just got an RK50 on Friday and I’m enjoying it so far. I’ve got a Les Paul and a Telecaster and both have their own great sound out of it. While I like Richie’s tone I’m trying to see what I can get out of it.
freaking love the editing...
A rob in his natural state, his best jams yet
dear rob: can you make a video talking about how you got into victory amps? i never even heard of them before these channels.
P.S. i loved your playing here!
HoshiHearts RetroGaming YES
Victory used to be a famous British boutique brand called Cornford that most high end gear geeks has heard of. A lot of people like me probably got into them because Guthrie Govan and Richie Kotzen used them back in the Cornford days.
You never mentioned it but have you checked out the album he did with Poison? Native tongue. Probably one of their best musically.
THE! Hands down THE best! Kudos to Bret Michaels for enduring that. I mean, when the new guitar player has a voice that is a cross between Chris Cornell and Stevie Wonder, I mean...
Lee is now my favourite guitar player. When Clapton retires, I'd love to see The Capt. take his place!
Never heard of Richie Kotzen till now. Just watched a random youtube video and I'm sold within the first minute.
Thanks Guys. Question for anyone -Best album to get first?
Peace Sign, Into The Black & Return Of The Motherheads Family Reunion. Get those 3, then you'll get the rest anyway, coz he's incredible.
His first self titled solo album is amazing. If you like shred instrumental guitar albums this one is by far his best.
Thanks guys. I was gonna ask the exact same question. 👌🏼
In my humble opinion - Check out 'Mother Heads family reunion' and '24 hours'. If your into the guitaring side of him the album 'Electric Joy' is worthwhile. The track 'Slow Blues' never gets old..Enjoy!

The best singer of our generation and ridiculously underrated.

Omg please do more dual guitar soloing that was awesome!
Live in your eyes! Idol rob chapman!
That’s is a killer sounding amp!!!
Wow! that thing .... sounds .... freaking .... wicked!!!!
Amazing sounding amp. Must try one.
come on Chapper, love the shred bra!!!! speed kills!!!

That Friedman guitar though 😍 Do I sense a Friedman guitar review coming?
The Friedman guitar is all pickguard.
Well it's inspired by a Fender 72 Tele
The captains solo at the end! 👍🏻🤘🏻❤️💪🏻
Dude is killing it
Lee sounds fantastic!

Don't really know anything about Richie Kotzen, but I do know that Martin Kidd makes some damn fine sounding amps.
who are your favourite guitarists Rob?
I just realised that we need to watch utube commercials so that we can watch Andertons commercials.😃
To all Germans: Das ist ja zum Kotzen
kommt mir das kotzen an!
lol, almost works for Dutch too. Kotsen. Pronounced similarly.
Haha
Ich könnt Kotzen!
Somebody should explain Rob and Lee, that "kotzen" is German for vomit.
Could be a speaker thing, but I was preferring the lunchbox over the combo. I've got the Sheriff 44 and considering the V40... May need to A/B with one of these...
wwoaaaahhh MASSIVE TONE !
won't have time to watch this today, does Chappers at any point say "writing tool" or play the Top Gear theme music?
Cool review, but if you guys are such Kotzen fans, why haven’t you ever reviewed the Tech 21 RK5? It’s a great pedal
Rob the into jam sounded good. You’ve been woodshedding.

Anyone that doesn’t think Ritchie Kotzen is a badass guitar player has obviously never listened to him play guitar
Gibby SG agreed seen him live many times
I bet dave friedman loved watching you play his guitars!
Loving the Stranger thing T-shirt Rob \m/
The jam at 22:38 is great
What does Lee have against Hammett?
He was also in Poison, for a year or so, played on the "Native Tongue" studio album and commensurate tour. But that's not so cool.
Andrew Hudspith but he did go some way to redeem himself by having an affair with the drummers fiance and getting fired, thats pretty rock n roll
Bridge pickup not for solos, how many times should we repeat this ! :D
Rob's shredding at the start was heavenly
even tho your selling your mates gear. Kotzen deserves so much more
I've been wanting to switch pickups in my PRS SE but I have been holding off because rumor has it that Friedman is going to announce pickup sets at NAMM
captain’s vibrato is so nice
To hear you talk about Richie Kotzen, that's how I feel about Jason Isbell. If you haven't heard him, he is unreal. Look up Flying Over Water live, his tone is ridiculous. Hope you guys give him a listen. Not in the hard rock/metal genre at all, but good playing is good playing.

THAT TELE STYLE GUITAR IS A FANO ALL DAY LONG!!
Oh dam I had never seen a Friedman guitar before this video 😮
Look up the germen translation for "kotzen" xD
dude... thats just sick...lol
So.... who are the other 7 best guitar players of all time by by Rob?
Please demo Blackstar 10th Anniversary Artisan, Artist and Series One amps!
Tremolo funktion makes me seasick... Love Ritchie Kotzen
What ! A review without the Kotzen telecaster ?
They addressed that!
Love chappers and the captain but I miss the jamming days before the backing tracks
Bring the Roland/Boss slick long hair shredder demo guy back for some videos!
Those Friedman guitars are like mythical creatures that may be sought after my whole life
I know man.. They sound insane!
I’d call it ugly tbh. Relic and a gigantic pick guard ... no thanks for me.
Cool video. The fried man Rob is playing , who makes them for Dave. Well, good day .
Amazing jam, but am I the only one who gets annoyed by the guitars beeing ever so slightly out of tune relative to each other?
I'm guessing it's intonation issues. They don't change the strings before they play guitars they grabbed off the wall and one of the guitars in this video is a Gibson guitar.
Chappers the kotzen song is You Cant CHANGE Me not you cant face me lol, kotzen was also in poison for honestly thier BY FAR best album fire and ice....also did jazz fusion albums with greg howe and jazzier albums with stanley clark called Vertu, AND his newest band winery dogs where he sings and is joined by billy sheehan and mike portnoy
HE played with a pick on most of the stuff you have heard but stopped using a pick completely a few years and albums back
ALSO HE PLEAYS EVERY INSTRUMENT AND PRODUCES HIS CD's drums, bass, guitar vocals and piano ALL HIM
Please do a blind fold test for prs guitars !!!
Or for amps, see if they can guess if it's valve, solid state or modelling !! :-)
Nicholas Tinkley-Smith they've already done the amp thing, search on Rob's channel.
Good tip. Overall I think Cap's playing is greatly improving though.
21:30 Is that Mr Moregain I see?
Richie started as a Jason Becker type of player. At that time every new player was a bit like a shredding guitar player. I think Richie was trying to get in the music scene and just played what they aks him to play.

At 25:11 Lee is thinking, "Would you just shut the hell up and let me play too!!!"
Me too Rob.
He basically has a less metal version of the Cornell falsetto. But I honestly had always heard his name and never really investigated his playing. Jesus Christ can the dude wail.
Keep me hanging on , Supremes thing
Chris Cornell is the best singer I’ve seen live.
For first time I think Raabea's video was much much better than rob and cap10
haha!! look like so much fun!!!!!!!!!!!
8:33 you damned sexy beastly hellspawn
