My second grade teacher was super into Studio Ghibli, and showed us Spirited Away and Ponyo. Only a few months ago did I dig up an old dvd with Spirited Away on it and I rewatched it. After so many years, the movie only comes as an amazing experience, and I wish more than ever to thank her for introducing myself and likely hundreds of other students to Studio Ghibli's masterful animes.
after i watch spirited away, i never know what to do with myself because i just watched the most moving and beautiful movie ever and im just like... how do i go on??
i havent seen spirit away but i understand that moving and beautiful feeling amazing is such a amazing thing i can recommend some good ones such as anohana, steins gate, guilty crown, monogatari series and etc
that word... I seen it many a times in comments. To quote one of my favorite characters from one of the best movies ever, "I do not think it means what you think it means."
According to what I've read, the part where Haku promises that they will meet again in English has a different translation and meaning in Japanese. In the Japanese, the exchange goes "Will I see you again?" "I'll come for you." That's supposed to be Haku promising that he'll come and be Chihiro's spirit guide into the afterlife when she dies, so they'll see each other once they can be together forever.
This melody makes me feel so sleepy - in a kind of positive way I can't really explain. I'm sinking deeper and deeper into my bed and drifting off. I just feel like my life is complete when listening, and that I am in a peaceful place far from home, a place full of color, it's quiet, sunny but with a gentle breeze. It feels almost like I am in a flowery meadow - and while I am stretched out, totally at ease, I am feeling the nature surrounding me... Well, simply put, hehe
What also makes it more sad is the fact that since Hayao Miyazaki retired, we will never see Haku and Sen be together even though they promised that they would ;_;
there's actually a secret ending to it. haku is ment to transfer to sen's school and they r supposed to meet there but the director decided to take that scene out T.T
IoneMacaroninCheese There's a lot of interpretable subtext in the movie, it could be about a lot of things. The spirits could very well be representations of other aspects of nature, civilization, or any other thing. The central theme however I believe is identity.
its like the hole love and peace of the world lies in these notes i makes me feel so wonderfull and nostalgic. When I hear this it feel like that I am far away frm home ...
Only this song reminds me the world is not in my phone, or in my books, my laptop, my bed, my tv, my school, my art... It will always be outside where it's always been.
I learned this when I was in high school. Then, I became busy with life and I forgot how to play, and I also forgot who I was and who I wanted to be. Yesterday, out of the blue, I rewatched Spirited Away, and I suddenly felt very sad, not only because of the movie, but I realised I missed being myself so much. Today, I decided to learn this from scratch again, and I wanted to learn this particular version which I’ve learned so many years ago. So thank you so much for keeping this video on RUclips all these years. Thank you so so much!
It's been years since I checked in on this account. I'm off work for the holidays and was scrolling through comments; this one caught my eye. I'm so happy this video has been helpful to you, even after all these years, and I'll keep it up on youtube for as long as they let me!
This is hands down my favorite movie of all time. Why? Watch the whole video and you'll know. I was in tears by the end... And that was just one of the songs.
man, i love the music and now o love this channel really im so depressed hayao is retiring, the films are great and the musics dont stand before they are great too! really man i almost cryed i subbed u!
I long time ago maybe when I was 3-5 I watched it. Then know almost 14 I have to admit I started crying when I remembered it and I love anime so much it a very beautiful piano version I really like it!!
I watched this film yesterday. I thought I knew a lot about movies. I watched it and it was like watching a movie for the first time. Truly spectacular.
I love this movie when I was 7 or 8 and I cried I thought it was amazing to this day it will always shed at least one tear after or during the movie I think its a beautiful story I don't know why someone else talks about it and says they were scared.
So beautiful it nearly brings me to tears. This masterpiece captures the feeling of longing, of loneliness---yet it still makes me feel strangely at peace with such emotions.
I don't know how, but this song is different than other emotional songs. This one actually made me feel my heart drop. And everytime I hear this song, it makes me miss my childhood...
This piece is absolutely brilliant. Joe hisaishi just hasn't received the recognition he deserves. This piece projects so much emotion, it perfectly sums up what chihiro experienced during her time in the spirit world.
For some reason right in the middle of the song I started crying I guess it brought me back to my childhood so much that I just started to miss it now I want to watch the movie over and over again thank you for uploading this
I'm not sure if I'm talking about the same movie here because I was like 7 or 8 when I watched it but I was afraid of it because Chihiro's parents became pigs. I couldn't sleep for a week after that XD
I watched it on Children's Day because my school decided to make us watch it. It was the most terrifying and yet wonderful thing I've ever watched, thpugh I have to finish it someday because I never actually did ...
haha XD when i watched this for the first time and all the times after, i always imagine myself in chihiro's place XD really cool, but some parts of the movie would've scared me way too much hahaha XD
This was my first Studio Ghibli Movie and I never regret it, that I saw this beautiful piece of a movie. But the soundtrack is the very best. Never heared a melody like this. Thank you very much for uploading this great tutorial :D
So beautiful, makes me want to cry. A piece so beautiful yet meaningful. This song had kept me alive through even the toughest times in my life. Thank you to the creator(:
I really like this, honestly. But for some reason I'm scared of it. You see, I watched Spirited Away when I was little (like 3-6 years old) and I was scared of it. I always got scared of my parents turning into pigs if they ate a little too much. So ever since I watched it, this has been scary as hell to me. Of course, now I really don't think my parents will turn into pigs anymore but WHY AM I STILL SCARED?! IT'S SO FRUSTRATING!!!!
okay I challenge myself to listen to this song without crying! 15 seconds in-*lip trembling* 1 minute in- *tears now forming* 1 1/2 minutes in - *bawling my eyes out and admits defeat* DARN YOU MIYZAKI! YOU AND YOU GOOD TOUCH WARMING MOVIES, GOOD PLOT AND EMOTIONAL MUSIC! WHY MUST THEY BE SO GOOD. *cry's for remainder of the song*
Cloud Chan That's my favorite part. I just finished watching the movie for the second time and I'm trying to decide which is my favorite now : Ponyo or Spirited Away because they're both amazing.
lol same I got teary eyed Yea I guess I see what you mean. The first Anime movie I watched was Princess Mononoke don't get me wrong it was an amazing movie but It's prob my favorite because of I watched it at a very young age. So it holds a nostalgic feeling to it; which was me, my brother and I think my sister all huddled on the floor around the desktop computer watching and my brother teasing whoever was crying or getting teary eyed because he was embarrassed to cry. Long story short, some movies in general hold a significance in your heart and that's what makes them amazing :)
That story is so legit I don't even know what to do with myself lol. I can't remember what age I was when I watched Ponyo, but I watch it every year because it was ( I still don't know if it is ) my favorite movie of all time.
This is the most amazing piece of music ive ever heard in my 12 years of living. it gives me chills listening to it, and if i dont learn how to play this before i die...my life isnt complete
I was probably 7 or 8 when I watched "Spirited Away" with my dad. I love it so much and the reason why was how well it was able to provoke the feeling of being lost as a small child in a frightening, unknown yet fascinating world. I think it is the only movie from everything I've watched that can provoke such emotions or any at all. I'm eighteen and I still get that same feeling of being a lost child trying to find a way back home no matter the fears, the monsters and the challenges that are ahead.
My cat have a cancer, and he is going to die tomorrow or sunday.. It's really hard for me and my family to endure his death, and, to honor him, I have to learn this music, and play it after, to help me.. That why I say thank you, to posted this video, who's gonna help me a lot.
Spirited Away was actually my first ever Studio Ghibli film and to this day, it's still my favorite.
SAME. ... first watched it when I was five :)
same here! :)
My second grade teacher was super into Studio Ghibli, and showed us Spirited Away and Ponyo. Only a few months ago did I dig up an old dvd with Spirited Away on it and I rewatched it. "You did it, Chihiro! I remember! I was the spirit of the Kohaku river"
I'm crying omg.
Owwww... right in the feels... *starts crying*
Nigihayami Kohaku Nushi
According to what I've read, the part where Haku promises that they will meet again in English has a different translation and meaning in Japanese. In the Japanese, the exchange goes "Will I see you again?" "I'll come for you."
That's supposed to be Haku promising that he'll come and be Chihiro's spirit guide into the afterlife when she dies, so they'll see each other once they can be together forever.
Oh these? They're not tears, it's just raining on my face.
I'm not crying, this song was just a hard eye workout and now they're sweating.
+Chloe Newman Oh these? Oh not tears, just eye sweat
Crying what's that??
+Chloe Newman My eyes are just sweating.
You're all cry babies
This melody makes me feel so sleepy - in a kind of positive way I can't really explain. I'm sinking deeper and deeper into my bed and drifting off. chihiroo :3
My favorite movie...
my friends make fun of me because it's "a kid's movie",
but it's more mature than many "adult" movies...
My friends do that too -.-
Tell them that it was a fantasised version of a story about child prostitution... Seriously google it
IoneMacaroninCheese er... really?
IoneMacaroninCheese There's a lot of interpretable subtext in the movie, it could be about a lot of things. The spirits could very well be representations of other aspects of nature, civilization, or any other thing. The central theme however I believe is identity.
hongquiao You are completely right. And it has quite a few lessons that even adults these days need to learn.
Hits me right in the feels
its like the hole love and peace of the world lies in these notes i makes me feel so wonderfull and nostalgic. When I hear this it feel like that I am far away frm home ...
My dad started listening to this in the middle of the night.... It scared the shit out of me and woke me up... This was about 8 hours ago...
I can't stop laughing with your comment, cause I tottaly get you!
You must have the best dad ever, man. Even with the abrupt midnight listenings of Joe Hisaishi.
I just loved this movie. It was amazing.
***** You mean No Face?
No Face was more trying to find his own identity rather than help her, having nothing to call yourself by can be a fate worse than most would think.
Joey Jew what movie is this from?
djkasdjkasdjdjdj spirited away
He's a no face but I think he's called a kaonashi (did I spell it correctly?) which means no face in Japanese
right in the childhood
was watching this with my family in childhood. so nostalgic, this brought ne tears
Only this song reminds me the world is not in my phone, or in my books, my laptop, my bed, my tv, my school, my art... It will always be outside where it's always been.
I want this played at my funeral
Snap. This or an Okami song from Mika Matsuura's piano arrangement. He and Joe Hisaishi know how to move your heart with a piano
I was literally thinking that halfway through the song.
same
Definitely
You really want to have everyone destroyed at your funeral...
I've watched spirited away many times since I was little but I never get bored of it because this song is so beautiful.
I learned this when I was in high school. Then, I became busy with life and I forgot how to play, and I also forgot who I was and who I wanted to be.

It's so beautiful... My favorite part starts at about 1:45...
Thats the bit that I remember most from the movie :)
I know, it's like the song is crying :(
Even if you didn't see the movie, the song is so classy and refine. Love it.
I love this movie when I was 7 or 8 and I cried I thought it was amazing to this day it will always shed at least one tear after or during the movie I think its a beautiful story I don't know why someone else talks about it and says they were scared.

This is like the only way to listen to One Summer's Day on RUclips anymore
I love this movie I'm not really into anime but they do have some very beautiful songs
So beautiful
I love this movie so much
I don't know how, but this song is different than other emotional songs. This one actually made me feel my heart drop. And everytime I hear this song, it makes me miss my childhood...

Mo Makhoana Ik right it's absolutely mesmerizing.

My sister hasn't seen this movie since she was only 5 years old. Watching it again 10 years later made her cry a river. Such a beautiful song :,)
I'm not sure if I'm talking about the same movie here because I was like 7 or 8 when I watched it but I was afraid of it because Chihiro's parents became pigs. I couldn't sleep for a week after that XD
Yes, that's the right movie. It also gave me nightmares like I was Chihiro's place. Definitely creeped me out when I was a little kid.
I watched it on Children's Day because my school decided to make us watch it. It was the most terrifying and yet wonderful thing I've ever watched, thpugh I have to finish it someday because I never actually did ...
I actually loved the movie when I was little. Love the music also. Just so well played. I loved the characters too. I just adored the movie.
haha XD when i watched this for the first time and all the times after, i always imagine myself in chihiro's place XD really cool, but some parts of the movie would've scared me way too much hahaha XD
even the smaller things about the movie, like the staircase down to the coal-burning room would've had me scared shitless TT-TT hahaha~
this is the most accurate transcription to this day. Very good job!
Anyone has the music sheets? The link above seems to be dead. Thank you
This was my first Studio Ghibli Movie and I never regret it, that I saw this beautiful piece of a movie. But the soundtrack is the very best. Never heared a melody like this.

This is my favorite movie of all time. Truly a masterpiece.
I really like this, honestly. But for some reason I'm scared of it. You see, I watched Spirited Away when I was little (like 3-6 years old) and I was scared of it. Cloud Chan That's my favorite part. I just finished watching the movie for the second time and I'm trying to decide which is my favorite now : Ponyo or Spirited Away because they're both amazing.
it hits you right in the feels :')
Agreed, it's hard to decide which Miyazaki film you love most b:
I was about to cry at that part :3
I actually watched Ponyo years before I watched Spirited Away so that's why it's so difficult for me to decide.
lol same I got teary eyed
Yea I guess I see what you mean.
This... never fails to make me snatching the tissues I LOVE THIS ironically

Sounds nostalgic... ~T_T~
This song and this movie were both so beautiful!
The problem with trying to copy keys from this is you can't see the player's hand placement :/

Chihiro *O*
Thank you anime, for always being there when no one else was.
This movie was my entire childhood... I loved it so much... Still do. And this made me tear up...
That whole film was just a complete masterpiece, a pure anime classic!
Listening to this song in the early morning, this makes me feel so touched and i can still recall the scenario of this movie.
My cat have a cancer, and he is going to die tomorrow or sunday..
It's really hard for me and my family to endure his death, and, to honor him, I have to learn this music, and play it after, to help me..
That why I say thank you, to posted this video, who's gonna help me a lot.
not only is Spirited Away an amazing movie, The soundtrack is equally fantastic!!
