- This Summer we had a request to make a 3lb/ski (6lb/pair) for a customer who does a fair amount of hiking with his skis in his bag, before he gets to snow to start skinning uphill. After a few conversations back and forth, we decided to take on his project and push the boundaries of how light we can make one of our models using ultra light carbon fiber, while still using a hardwood core (grown in the USA).
Follow along to see how close we got to our target and see how we built this pair of carbon fiber skis!

Considering the self-imposed handicaps, this is particularly impressive. Obviously there are many other ways to lighten up the ski but that would require some sort of compromise such as foreign lumber, introduction of voids, or modification of ski shape/design. Very cool.
Thanks! It was a fun project for the whole team!
Nice work!
You guys sooooo rock
Where do you get the ski edges from? Cool video.
After one year, how did they ski??
but you haven't added the wax yet 😜
What was the length on the 3lb ski? This is awesome, I always have a ski at about that weight in my quiver for very big/long days and mountaineering missions. Would definitely consider this for my next ski in that quiver slot.
Those were 174s!
How much would something like this cost?
Hemp board??
you be better off buying Icelantic skis
I hope you the best success! Wow, you need to research Promo-SM!
