We have been trained to ignore our initial impressions in life and collect more and more data before formulating a decision. The book however shows many examples of how we should not over look our initial impressions. In this case, your initial impression of an Aston was not that great. But, you keep wanting to collect more experiences to hopefully change your initial impression. Bottom line is in that price point there are better options than an Aston. -Doug

When Ford dropped their premium brand acquisitions, things really went downhill. (Especially the Jaguars and Astons).
I've had a few products from this 2011-2016 time period. My most recent, is a 2013 Jaguar XJL. For perspective, I'm the 7th owner, and this is a 2 time, repo car. Its was repoed from the 3rd and 5th owner. Car has been in multiple accidents, and the dash reads 195,000 miles.
Nothing is broke. Nothing, *doesnt* work. This car has had maybe 5 oil changes in its life, and just runs. No chatter, no ticks, just drives fantastic. Why? I'm willing to bet the Ford 5.0, and Ford interior switches, and control panels are the reason this car just seems to work. Its literally the only Jaguar I've owned, (And believe me, I've tried so many, mostly the older XJ-8 sedans), that just works! I can't express how impressed the last 3 years of ownership has made me. From what I can find online, most people who had Astons between the years of 2012-2015 have nothing but positive things to say about long term ownership.
People like to shit on Ford, and I literally get it. Don't get me started on their garbage automatic transmission they used in the early to mid 2000s. But I think the saving grace of Jaguar/Rover/Aston models from that time period, are soley because of Ford.
I might be dead wrong, people might say those are the worst years. But in my experience, the Ford built/partsbinned Euro luxury cars, are the best/most reliable versions of themselves on the road.

agree, have both a 99 x100 and a 08 x150, the x100 was at the beginning of ford ownership, far more reliable than the xjs (until the final inline 6 which are good cars) but still has a bit of small quirks and things going on, the x150 is more reliable at peak ford ownership, 108k miles on it, however my complaint is that the earlier, less ford xk8 interior quality and ride quality is just so comfortable and quiet and timeless, the x150 is a great car but feels cheaper inside and ride quality is a lot louder and bumpy, maybe because of the aluminum body. I think on the scale with time reliability increased but quality decreased

Aston Martin can without a doubt make some gorgeous cars. With the move over yo using AMG motors the possibility of getting one and upgrading the exhaust, turbos, and a tune would yield an incredibly powerful and comfortable GT while retaining the class associated with the Aston Martin brand. I'd love one slightly lowered with some nice staggered wheels, and the AMS Alpha 9 package which comes with upgraded turbos, downpipes, exhaust, tune, cooling upgrades. I doubt they will but a special edition Aston Martin with the monster engine from the AMG GT Black Series with it's flat plane crank and the insane power it makes. I prefer the V8 models over the DB11 but one of those with the AMG TT V12 with the similar upgrades I mentioned for the 4.0 TT V8 would be alot of fun as well. The segment Aston Martin was competing in gor the longest time hurt them because they seemed to be down on power compared to the competition. But using AMG engines and MB technology was certainly the right move so they can be left to design and develop what seperates them from other cars in their segment. Hopefully their quality and reliability will improve making them a viable alternative for people shopping at that price point. Atleast they're heading in the right direction where Jaguar couldn't be more stagnant compared to Aston and even Lotus

9:40 If you paved the road yourself, if it is anything like where I live, they'd charge you with destruction of public property and fine you and get you to pay the cost of removing your repairs.
I read a news article years ago about someone local to me (In the paper no less) that repaired a pot hole in front of their driveway and the city went ballistic on them.

I absolutely LOVE the fact that AM didn't move the hood/bonnet release for LHD cars. Suck it! LOL It makes up for the lack of RHD cars _and_ the crappy RHD cars from US manufacturers over the years! :D

i rented one of these in LA for a few days when I was there off Turo for like 250 a day. Track mode is when the exhaust sounds fantastic and pops/bangs really nice. However, the brakes were horrific. For 250 bucks a day it was the best deal ever. I had a v8 vantage and this was a much better vehicle all around
