    I made these easy moss trees. Now I'm doing some experiments with paint and DIY faux snow.
    These trees would look fantastic in your dollhouse, a Christmas village, Christmas or winter decor, or as terrain in games like Dungeons & Dragons.
    This is the best source for the moss. It's not only from a small business, but it's the best quality I've seen. The color and level of dryness is perfect.

    Some of my favorite things:
    Nail Studs- I like these because there are a variety of sizes in silver and brass
    amzn.to/3JEtJMd
    For under $10, you get a variety of jump rings, lobster clasps and pliers
    amzn.to/3Zu7sGd
    Paper fasteners & 1/8" hole punch
    amzn.to/3O5nYI6
    2 oz bottle of Diamond Glaze
    amzn.to/3zmMLR1
    8 oz bottle of Diamond Glaze
    amzn.to/3zpiMbm
    Heat gun- I use mine to quickly dry paint, soften the glue to dismantle furniture and quickly cure polymer clay without an oven. Gets a lot hotter than a hair dryer.
    amzn.to/3YBAIcH
    Craft heat gun that doesn't get as hot as mine

    I have lots of projects planned ranging from scratch made accessories, abandoned miniatures, furniture makeovers, accessories, kits and Dollhouse Miniatures in multiple scales. I'm also working on a large Harry Potter build in 1" scale.

      I LOVE this faux snow you make with the spackle. We have the same thing here in Australia, but it's called Polifilla instead of Spackle. I've got a new container of it, so I'm definitely going to make some snow with it. If you don't have any spackle you can substitute baking soda or Epsom Salts for a very similar result. Thank you for making this great video tutorial. Love from Amanda in Melbourne, Australia ❤

      Same here! I was worried about ruining it with snow, but it looks so good. The other tree will become a Christmas tree, but probably next year since I'm running out of time this season.

    I just came here to say I really appreciate that you do multiple shorter videos. I'm a busy mama and it really helps me get some good tips without all the superfluous stuff. I also love watching with my kid because you point out mistakes and things you'd do differently which really helps drive home that mistakes are part of the creative process. ❤

    The trees turned out adorable. I liked the combo with the painted branches and the spackle snow, the paint gave the branches a nice ‘frosted’ look under the snow. ❤

      I was staring at it for too long and couldn't tell if painting first is worth it, but I think you're right. Painting only took a couple minutes.

    The Lycopodium was such a Great find! 100% better looking than bottle brush trees. 👍🧙‍♀ What would you say is the thickest amount of polymer clay you can cure with the heat gun? I love the idea of not using an oven.

    • @queencityminis
      @queencityminis  9 месяцев назад

      Thank you! It is a great material.
      Idk for sure, but I think probably 1/8". Using a higher heat for a shorter amount of time doesn't make the clay as strong as baking. I wouldn't use the technique on anything that'll be handled.

    I have used a bottle-brush tree as a base and added lycopodium inserted into the tree with good results.
    Before the spackle/glue mixture dries, you might add some ultrafine glitter to add some sparkle.

    • @queencityminis
      @queencityminis  9 месяцев назад +1

      I packed my glitter away bc I'm moving, but that's a good idea!
      I should've showed it in the video, but I started out by filling a bottle brush tree. It was going too slowly and I found it hard to keep the tree shape tapered. I didn't want to trim it to shape.
