I made these easy moss trees. Now I'm doing some experiments with paint and DIY faux snow.
These trees would look fantastic in your dollhouse, a Christmas village, Christmas or winter decor, or as terrain in games like Dungeons & Dragons.
This is the best source for the moss. It's not only from a small business, but it's the best quality I've seen. The color and level of dryness is perfect.

Some of my favorite things:
Nail Studs- I like these because there are a variety of sizes in silver and brass

For under $10, you get a variety of jump rings, lobster clasps and pliers

Paper fasteners & 1/8" hole punch

2 oz bottle of Diamond Glaze

8 oz bottle of Diamond Glaze

Heat gun- I use mine to quickly dry paint, soften the glue to dismantle furniture and quickly cure polymer clay without an oven. Gets a lot hotter than a hair dryer.

Craft heat gun that doesn't get as hot as mine

I have lots of projects planned ranging from scratch made accessories, abandoned miniatures, furniture makeovers, accessories, kits and Dollhouse Miniatures in multiple scales. I'm also working on a large Harry Potter build in 1" scale.

Here's where you can learn how to make the trees

I LOVE this faux snow you make with the spackle. We have the same thing here in Australia, but it's called Polifilla instead of Spackle. I've got a new container of it, so I'm definitely going to make some snow with it. If you don't have any spackle you can substitute baking soda or Epsom Salts for a very similar result. Thank you for making this great video tutorial. Love from Amanda in Melbourne, Australia ❤
Haha! Your video is 1 Minute online- but it already has three Likes!- so we all press the "like"-button before watching, because we know, that we will enjoy each of your videos!?!😅
That's a fair assumption 😉 thank you!
haha I always press Like before I watch her videos.
Me too
True:)
These are easily the best scale trees I've ever seen. Great job, and thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much! They're so easy to make.
‘To avoid measuring’ im with you, i hate measuring 😝
The snow worked out great!
Avoiding measuring is the key to my crafting philosophy 😆
@@queencityminis i agree and follow this philosophy!
I LOVE IT!! ❤ I like it even more with snow. It looks so lovely and so realistic! I have to create this for my mini cottage. Thank you for sharing! 😊💕
Same here! I was worried about ruining it with snow, but it looks so good. The other tree will become a Christmas tree, but probably next year since I'm running out of time this season.
Oooooh mixing spackle and white glue is GENIUS! I'm so gonna try that 🤯👏👏👏 (also: loving the video's thumbnail 😂👏)
Thank you!
I just came here to say I really appreciate that you do multiple shorter videos. I'm a busy mama and it really helps me get some good tips without all the superfluous stuff. I also love watching with my kid because you point out mistakes and things you'd do differently which really helps drive home that mistakes are part of the creative process. ❤
Awww, thank you! I never thought of it that way. That's a good lesson to learn early on.
The trees turned out adorable. I liked the combo with the painted branches and the spackle snow, the paint gave the branches a nice ‘frosted’ look under the snow. ❤
I was staring at it for too long and couldn't tell if painting first is worth it, but I think you're right. Painting only took a couple minutes.
Adorable! 🥰💜 I might have to give my entire village a makeover now LOL
I know! Now I hate all my bottle brush trees.
Oh I love this video. I've been making a little Christmas tree for my dollshouse every year but I have never seen a good tutorial such as yours. You have inspired me to rethink!!
You are so welcome! I am so happy with how these look.
Just precious & quite realistic! 🎄 Merry Christmas🧑🎄🎀💫🎄to ALL
I love your snow technique! It looks so natural. I can’t get over how realistic your pine tree looks.
Thank you so much! I'm so happy with how it turned out.
The Lycopodium was such a Great find! 100% better looking than bottle brush trees. 👍🧙♀ What would you say is the thickest amount of polymer clay you can cure with the heat gun? I love the idea of not using an oven.
Thank you! It is a great material.
Idk for sure, but I think probably 1/8". Using a higher heat for a shorter amount of time doesn't make the clay as strong as baking. I wouldn't use the technique on anything that'll be handled.
These are gorgeous and so realistic, love them, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
Thanks so much! 😊
Pretty trees. They look realistic nice job.
Thank you very much!
Since your previous video, I've been fascinated with the moss you have used to make the trees. It's a moss that I've never seen before but will be looking for as the trees you made look so realistic.😊❤🌲❤🌲

This is the best source I've found, and it's a female owned "small" business (with a 3,000 sq ft dollhouse store and thousands of items in their inventory).
Thanks what a great look. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
🌟🎁🎄📯🎶👼🏻
You are so welcome!
I used to have a white Christmas tree
They make a big impact for sure. I know vintage trees were silver like tinsel. I've never seen a gold tree, though
This is awesome! Thank you!
Glad you like it!
Cute 🥰 cool thanks
My pleasure 😁
I like how you try different methods in different places- immensely helpful watching you experiment
Happy to hear that! I like to experiment and make the mistakes so you don't have to.
OMG i’m so happy that i found your channel! 🥰 you have amazing ideas and great explanations. Love your kind calm voice, I could listen to it all day! 😊
Thank you 😊
Really good tips
Glad you think so!
I have used a bottle-brush tree as a base and added lycopodium inserted into the tree with good results.
Before the spackle/glue mixture dries, you might add some ultrafine glitter to add some sparkle.
I packed my glitter away bc I'm moving, but that's a good idea!
I should've showed it in the video, but I started out by filling a bottle brush tree. It was going too slowly and I found it hard to keep the tree shape tapered. I didn't want to trim it to shape.
Great idea with the spackle on the trees, I’m going to try it next time I make snowy trees. ❤
You should! It's hanging on there really well.
Looking forward to seeing what else you do with the Lycopodium. I bought two bags for some reason.
Good choice! I actually did too 😆 Don't wanna run out.
I'm making a bunch of Christmas decor to decorate a mini fireplace. There will be some Lycopodium in that scene.
I think all the paint techniques look fantastic! I also think each could be used depending on the setting and the look or feel a person is looking for.
I totally agree! Thank you
This is so helpful thank you!!! Would love to keep seeing more tutorials like this!
More to come! I'm posting a mini Christmas decor video tomorrow morning.
I love these trees. So realistic looking. Thanks.
Glad you like them!
The spackle snow looks so realistic. I want to do it to my big tree lol!
I bet it would hold up well!
Merci beaucoup et joyeuses fêtes de Noël 😀
Thank you!
Wow! Love the tree . Can you make me a full size one please 😂 x
Gimme a minute 😆
Love the last technique, very realistic
Thanks so much!
I heard baking soda paint and glue works
That probably would work well. The paint is a good addition to make it whiter.
I like the spackle better, too. That "snow" and the tree look so real! Awesome job!
Thanks so much! 😊 It looks so real, even really close up.
They turned out great ❤🎄
Thank you 😊
Great tips :o)
Thanks! 😊
Adorable 🎄
Thank you 😊
