I met Mr. Crosby on the Pinware river on the south Coast of Labrador. I was sitting on the front porch of my cabin and he noticed my waders hanging over the side and stopped in to chat. He joked that he was driving this crap car and was wondering if he was going to make to his destination without breaking down. We had a great chat and he gave me a bottle of bake-apple jam. Such a great person with a great perspective on life. I am blessed to have met him.
I remember this story and a picture in Eastern Woods and Waters I think it was back in the day...Fish of dreams or nightmares lol!Thank you for this!Often thought about that fish.
Enjoyed the story Mike and especially how the size was determined using the ribs of the boat with a little science thrown in. Too bad about the scale, however like you said...that was far from your mind at the time. I hope this COVID-19 matter is in the past by the time your camps are set to open. Have a great summer in Labrador! All the best.
i used to fish the river Coquet ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Coquet ) and i remember seeing a huge tail of a Salmon just before the fish pass (no angling zone) at the the end of the tidal section. it was at least 3 times bigger than the fish beside it. i estimate it at about 60lbs
