- I love this product! If you only have a limited number of batteries but want to fly your RC plane or drone all day without interruption then this charger is a must-have. It works exactly as advertised and allows you to charge two packs simultaneously with ridiculous ease.

Thanks for letting us read the manual! :-)
I absolutely love your videos, they are funny, yet informative. Always brightens up my day when you release a new one.
Keep on keeping on!!!
Yes yes yes, Good Day I am going to purchase one of these for my many small quad batter's glad you rolled that box for us Northern dwellers.... I do have quite of few batteries so I can usually stay up for a while... but a charger would make in house exploration more timely, gotten into some fixes and need more juice. Old cave divers rule... especially remotely.
Bruce,
I purchased the M8S per your review. It's a great little charger at a reasonable price. Now you and Andrew Newton have me excited about another great product from ToolKitRC. I need to develop a little restraint. Na, that's no fun!
please measure finished charged lipo with a good multimeter.
I need to know, because M8 is a bad cell balancer. And is impossible to calibrate.
Looks like a nice piece of field kit. Now, just got to find one here in the U.S. As always, thanks much for sharing.
Steve
I bought the M6 which looked very nice, but it wasn't actually able to charge at the higher currents. When charging at 8A it got warm, and then the fan actually shut off. After that it of course quickly overheats and completely shuts off when the internal temperature reached 70C. Same problem with discharging. Would be interesting to see how this charger handles these situations. Another problem was that I never really trusted the voltage readings. Some cells would charge to 4.23V, even after calibrating. Banggood gave me my money back and now I have an ISDT Q8, which works fine.
Heard their were issues with M8 too.... but I just learned of this brand and know little about it. I paid 10 bucks on sale for my metal cased 80w 10 amp Accucell 6 and should have got more. When it comes to chargers metal is better than plastic by far IMO.
Very nice Bruce, this looks like a must have in the field box.
I have the previous Toolkit RC Charger, with the dial wheel, I just replaced it with another ISDT charger. The dial wheel was driving me crazy, and the charger would sometimes report errors with batteries the ISDT's would charge without problems. In short, even though it looks more ISDT now ( colors and wheel have changed to match ISDT ), I don't believe in the quality of their product anymore. The cost of a quality charger, compared to the packs it is meant to charge, is really a factor in this hobby. I would really like to see a long term review of this product, to see if it holds up. Thanks for the review !!
You can update the firmware to sort the hugely irritating wheel on the toolkit and can set different sensitivity but interface is still annoying. Hota D6 Pro and H6 Pro are the best chargers I've had. Much better than my ISDT and cheaper too
Hopefully they've fixed some of the calibration issues. I have a M6 that often shits the bed and discharges a battery while charging it. It's almost useless.
Bruce, can you please do a teardown of this charger and explain how they made it soo small
Fantastic review, Bruce! 😃
I have the ToolkitRC M6 and love it! This one is looking sexy! 😃
Stay safe there! 🖖😊
this is conviniance and save time
Banggood seems to be picking back up. The power supply I ordered in February got to me today.
i finally got my orders from march too..
well 50% of them the others got returned
Really wish it had ac input also, price is great.
As soon as you put AC voltage in you need an internal psu. At 500W we are talking about PC PSU. That would have a massive price hit on this little kit.
you an just make one of your own.
just buy a power supply for 12V and add a XT60 plug to it.
I use a laptop charger 90W for my M6
if you want more W you may need to buy one.
I run a 25A CTEK car charger/power supply. No issues. Also have a smaller 10A version to run a smaller charger
get some balance wire extensions. hook it up to a solar panel
Hi Bruce. Great review of this little charger, I could definitely use a charger like that.
Good review, if they get the price right this looks like a really nice little charger. I like the ISDT chargers but picked up a ToolkitRC M8 about a year ago and I was getting some weird errors until I managed to update the firmware and it’s been great ever since.
My only concern is the scroll wheel which also doubles as a button, I hope it’s easier to use than the dial type on the M8 which you really have to be careful with or else you can accidentally change settings when confirming a choice in the menus.
If you follow the link in the description, and the "buy" link from there, you'll see it retails for about €55-60 on Banggood. Takes a bit of searching though, since none of the links appear to link straight to this particular model.
Thanks for the review! Is it true that the is limited to 10S = 20V @PB ?
Now that's a perfect lil charger, thanks and take care brotta:)
Hi all. Please tell me please. The other day I bought this charger (My father has the same one). Faced the problem of a very noisy fan, as in my opinion. Is it possible to change it to a quieter one? I can not find a video with the disassembly of this charger. Thank you.
I dont burn my finger anymore on rctoolkit. I had 2x M6 chargers and both werent good. Only using ISDT atm.
Why do you plug in the balacer first to the charger? Is there a reason for it?
Better then htrc t240 ? I'm not interested output power . Just to be accurate and we'll done made and can charge 1-6s without balans ? only battery in series ? thanks you .
Bruce, I bet you still have a vcr setup in the back of your workshop for the day you find those lost vhs tapes
Gotta get me one .
Thanks Bruce..!
Why not take two M6 chargers. It’s cheaper and more flexible. Won’t work if you use 8s but other than that it might be a better option, what do you think Bruce?
Does it step up the input voltage if needed? The manual seems to suggest that by showing 24V input and 25V battery state.
yes, it has voltage boost. You can charge a 6S pack from a 2S input if you want to.
Those lipo brands are heavier than better branded lipos by atleast 15g.
1:12 Dude you crack me up! 😆👍
P.S. Charger looks pretty good to me mon frere
Nice review but did you never use balance boards for multiple batteries?
Hello, I'm new to lipo charging. Does this one explode randomly?
1:20 - it's upside down because I live in the southern hemisphere... ;) LOL
I know this might be a bit of an unpopular opinion but I think all these chargers are too small. Like physically too small. I have a Q6 plus and it can not hold the advertised discharge rate because the heatsink and fan are too small. And even when I discharge or storage charge with more than 0.1A or parallel charge multiple batteries the tiny fan kicks in and is obnoxiously loud. I would love to have a charger that's just a bit larger to fit a 120mm computer fan and a bit larger heatsink so I can actually use the charger while watching RUclips or working.
I suspect there's probably a market for a dedicated, balanced storage discharger.
@@loc4725 there is. But it doesn't really fix my probldm
I recently bought a SkyRc Q200 that charges 4 batteries at once via mains or battery. So far working great on the bench. So a smaller charger that can only charge 2 batteries seems like a niche product perhaps intended for people to fit it in there glovebox, otherwise the likes of the Q200 are not super heavy or large - it can easily fit in a backup for example.
Great review.
Whata great little device!!!
Can I use a AC adapter with this charger?
Great review Bruce - a great accessory to keep in the back-pack. Loving that 'still got the film over screen' on lots of your gear, aka the video you did about that :)
Thanks for the review Bruce - Very tempted to get one of these but i'm concerned about the balance connector - it doesn't have the little dimple like the ISDT chargers have to keep you from plugging in the balance lead incorrectly. Does it look like the charger will get damaged if a balance lead was connected incorrectly? (ie a 4s plugged in on the 1-5s pins or reverse polarity?)
I once killed a charger because of this...
Agreed. Could do with a breakout board like some of the cheap Turnigy chargers have.
@@loc4725 my m8s have signal if you put incorrectly maybe this one too
You can always paint with a marker the negative or add a sticky label wrapped around the negative wire. (And also write "GND" on it)
Is this 500watts charger reliable and can it display accurate cell balance and cell voltage ? How is the m8d stading against the m6d? I have order the m8s it’s cheaper and it’s my first time getting a charger from
This brand I had isdt
plug in the balance port before the main lead. why is that ? Any benefits?
Followed the link to the product page, when you click on ‘buy’ top right all the links on that page take you to the 300W or lower versions that only support 1 battery? Not your fault but thought I’d make you aware. Do you know a UK shop that sells this model charger?
I was going to say the same thing. I’m looking for a US distributor.
Those pages show another model, but at least on banggood I just clicked on the manuracturer's name, and got a list with the rest of their products.
Why you don't have used a parallel board before? Or even now?
great video. what's the best resistance per cell? my batteries are reading between 4 and 9,
There is a typo in your video title ;-)
Maybe I'm stupid but I don't see it. What's not correct..?
Dang that is indeed one serious typo especially with all the crazy world events going on right now lol.
What does 5G towers for cell phones have effect on transmitter and receivers in the rc world?
Minimal. Unless you try to fly through them🦀
Is this product reliable? I am looking to upgrade my charger from an underpowered 50W charger and am trying to decide between this and the Hota D6. I like the fact that this charger can work well on the bench or in the field. I do like how I won't need to buy a seperate power supply for the hota d6 (ac) but I won't get its full power and the price for this charger + a power supply is still below the the price for the hota D6. The only thing holding me back is that TKRC seems hit and miss with reliability. I have heard of some people having m6's and m8's crapping out on them and I don't want to buy twice even though they have worked well for others. Can you say if that will be an issue?
Nice review question for ya if i power it with a 6s pack could i charge another 6s at 10+ amps ?
Hi Bruce, long time subscriber, I have bought a Taranis radio, but find the menu system extremely difficult to figure out what to do. Have you or will you do a video tutorial on how to use/ setup this radio? I see that this radio has a great deal of potential, but find myself bogged down in the how to use/setup. for example the radio has no location for servo reversing, no location for dual rates or expo. instead it's in something called inputs?!!! can you please reply. thanks mike
in the meantime check oscar liangs blog - I always come back there for some articles about how to setup complex stuff on taranis (dont know if he has a simple beginners tutorial as well). Another tip: dont search only for Taranis video - you can follow most OpenTX videos - because the software an different radios is the same these days.
Can this charge two 5000mah 6s packs at 1C from a 12v power supply?
I haven't tried that exact configuration but I would expect so since it's 15A per channel maximum and 250W per channel. Charging a 5000mAH pack at 1C will be 5x22 = 110W per channel (nominal).
Neat charger! Does it have a low voltage protection for the input battery? And if yes, can you manually adjust it to match your particular battery type? I assume it does buck and boost so doesn't matter if input voltage is lower than output?
Not sure about low-voltage protection on the input (haven't tried it but I will). It does have a voltage boost circuit so you can charge a battery that has more cells than the input battery without any issues.
Ordered !!!
i need a whats inside of this😁
want to build one of my own, but a quad charger
Buy two.
Quick question: I like to undercharge my batteries to extend their life, so what is the minimum voltage that this will cut off at?
minimum is 4.15 v per cell if set to LiPo or 4.05V per cell if set to LiIon.
@@RCModelReviews That's good. Thanks!
Sameone tested 4s on ch1 and 6s on ch2 batery?
Why don’t you use a parallel charge board? Then you could charge even more packs at the same time.
Because then you'd have to discharge all cells in all packs to the same voltage before you hooked them up. Which requires a separate battery discharger and more waiting time until you have "enough" matched batteries to plug in. It's certainly doable, but a parallel board is no substitute for a parallel charger with independent channels.
EDIT: this guy explains why this is necessary: oscarliang.com/parallel-charging-multiple-lipo/
Also, a parallel charging board only allows you to charge batteries with the same cell count. For most of us, that's fine. But if you fly e.g. both 3S and 4S packs, you're still gonna need two chargers or alternate the batteries.
Are you really using a 4 cell battery ob a 3 inch quad? I won't call them a drone because drones don't exist any more.
Yep, the Kopis Mini really screams on 4S and is so much fun!
If you have two different types of batteries (e.g. 4s and 6s), then you can parallel charge two types of batteries... interesting !
It wouldn't be considered parallel charging, that will charge each battery channel off a separate circuit, just simultaneously charging
If u had 2 parallel charging boards on each port u could yes
It needs touchscreen IMO that turnwheel looks annoying
i real like toolkitrc chargers i have try a couple of chargers thy ok and yes tool kitrc out do them by a small bit but kicking tops
what if instead of buying this you just buy a second charger
Jees that is dope as
HOW MUCH?
Oh, and BTW, I'm not a bot, I'm a Pateron, LOL !!
how could i contact you?
Can this support a 4s 10,000mah to charge 2 6s 1,100mah at 3c?
No. It only does 500w
Easily - 25.2V (6S) x 1.1A X 3C = 83W per battery. This charger can do up to 250W per channel or 500W total which is 6 of these batteries concurrently - 83W x 3 batteries per channel (249W) x 2 channels = 500W.
