      Yes, this is one of my earlier videos. I've been trying to get the music dialed in on the right volume level. If you find a more recent video with a more pleasing volume level let me know. Thank you very much for watching!

    hello, thank you so much for share. So, i need a help: i try run for NACA 63412, but i don't have success: This designation not implemented. Can you help me ? or could someone help me?

    I thought in inviscid flow there is no drag, can someone please explain why there's still occuring pressure drag in the XFOIL solution (with a negative sign) ? Thanks!
    But otherwise really helpful and well structured video!

    • @edwardzeng3408
      @edwardzeng3408 2 года назад

      Because of pressure distribution, as you can see, in the plot, pressure buildings up around the front of the aerofoil, which creates drag

      Cp is a surface integral around the region of the airfoil. XFOIL calculates this counter clockwise thus , its the opposite of the found one. It can never be negative because it violates thermodynamics. And it has a value because its not symmetrical around the chord. If it was a NACA 00XX , then it would be 0 , correctly. But actually the surface integral of Cp is non-zero due to the fact that it has a curvature. Hope it helps you.

      Unfortunately, I can't remove the music without removing the video and uploading a different video without the music. That maybe something I do in the future if I ever decide to update/remake some of my XFOIL videos but isn't in the near term. The later videos in my series don't have background music so hopefully you don't have to suffer too much to get to those. Hope you enjoy the content of the video regardless of the background music.

    When I type in the command "oper" , XFoil says "No airfoil avalaible" .Whats wrong? Thought XFoil has a build in NACA data base

    • @russellmiller2564
      @russellmiller2564 3 года назад +1

      You still have to tell it to load the foil. First command will be “NACA xxxx”

    • @thescienceofflight1404
      @thescienceofflight1404  3 года назад

      Yup, as @Russell Miller mentioned, before going to the OPER menu you must first have loaded an airfoil. You can do that by using the "NACA" command followed by a space and the 4 or 5 digit identifier for the NACA airfoil you wish to use and hit (NACA 6-digit series isn't supported yet to my knowledge). This will load either a 4-digit or 5-digit airfoil into memory from the NACA "built in database".
      The other option is to load an airfoil from a file. This is a little more involved but I made a video covering the topic here: ruclips.net/video/g-SnoYE4yYk/видео.html
      Hope this helps!

    • @thescienceofflight1404
      @thescienceofflight1404  3 года назад

      Sometimes I have to switch between plots (by typing "cpx" and then retrying the "cpv" command) to get the plots to update. Give that a shot and let me know if you've found a different solution. Thanks!
