MTV was only 2 years old when this came out. It was 1 of the early music videos. And we had limited technology back then. Hence why things are a bit 'awkward' in many of them. 🤣
During the end of the Escape tour, both Neal (lead guitar) and Ross (bass) were going thru nasty divorces. Steve and Jon wondered why people couldn't separate without destroying each other. That is what this song is about.
This video was filmed in New Orleans Louisiana on a dock next to the Mississippi River . I am from Louisiana and didn't know about it in 96 . I live about 20 miles from New Orleans go figure 🤔💜☮🎶 LOVE PEACE & ROCK N ROLL .
Guuuh I love this song so much. When they used this song in the trailers for Stranger Things Season 4, I was *beside myself* with joy. It was so perfect. And then the way they used it in one of the episodes as well.
I enjoy some of the other artists that have put their own twist on this gem, but to do a song with Perry lead singing, I would leave it alone. The voice is/was simply a majestic soul from OUR FATHER WHO ART IN HEAVEN.
i had the album from journey in the 80s, had to hide it from my friends due to being a black female. still rocks it. and I'm 56 now. still love steve perry and journey. That guitar is kicking.
My stalker ex used to (back before cell phones and voicemails) call and play this song on my answering machine...CONSTANTLY. I changed my number several times, but his dad worked for the phone company and he used to sneak the equipment out of his van and hook up to the line of my house and get the new number. Can you say Psycho much?
@@ABtheKreator Perry has been mentoring a young artist, Trev Lukather, and he asked if he could cover an old song of his that didn't get radio play back in the day. and also would he please sing on it. He has since talked him into signing with a new label, and new music is anticipated. ruclips.net/video/wEthjEcpBAU/видео.html Some fans complained he was just singing back up, and didn't appear in the video. He sounds a lot better than he looks these days. When asked about it, he said that was him post covid, and he was truly platinum now.
5:36 This chick is doing the Taylor Swift Reputation walk. She stomping to the beat!!! I was born in ‘74 and my sister was older. We watched the first video ever on MYV before we had to go meet the high school band buses (chartered) yo head to New Orleans for a competition. Had to leave at like 3-4 o’clock am! So these are my jams. #ABthrKreator @ABtheKreator,did you have to mention the 80s head turn... I can’t stop laughing now!! It’s like Soap Operas from the 80s!! I’ll tell you what though, I want a push for Music Videos to make a comeback. I can’t with visualizers, lyric videos of TS are good but otherwise boring. Make videos again!!!!! I mean seriously the most expensive thing in this video is what the girl is wearing! They got the instruments already and clearly just got dressed in whatever that morning. He was a dock worker so will use the docks for free and now watching this I feel like we are watching a behind the scenes of a non celeb video, because he keeps looking back to not trip! Just like us and phones! WE NEED MORE VIDEOS!!!! One more rant but “I’ll do it Lightly”, Nickleback is as rock as this (no synthesizer but it’s not the 80s)! So yes Nickleback are a rock band! The 80s was hair rock! Steve Perry rocking the mullet! But that voice!
OMG... you are a youngin... you didn't know this was Journey!!!.. Come on. I didn't even like this at first because Steve had cut his hair and all.. I was in 10th grade I think.. but my favorite album was Escape.. This had a totally different sound.. I love it now.. I grew up with it.. but not my fav Journey.
As much as DSB has become a cultural phenom including a Karokje Anthem, watch any karoleoke bar or band play this abdcwatch the fist pumps by guys who lo e this Anrhem too. Women love it but men go crazy to Selwrate Ways.
They are definitely musicians and not actors 😆. As far as reactions and appreciation, you really can't go wrong with any journey song (even ones that didn't get radio airplay or RUclips attention).
I always saw this video as very tongue in cheek like they’re in on the joke and they’re kind of trolling in a way with how ridiculous it is I don’t think it’s just accidentally cheesy af
For some fun... you can look at the making of this video. There's no sound, and they're all just acting out the things they're doing in the video with no lyrics and no music, and it's funny
This is my favorite journey song, I know them well because they’re my moms favorite, but this video soooooo cheesy 80’s 😂. It’s almost painful to watch 😂. And I was born in 82’ so I’m an 80’s baby. But the song is amazing.

Back when MTV played Music videos and focused on the artist and bands.
I miss the ORIGINAL MTV😢
Steve Perry and Journey were phenomenal. The 80s, never to be duplicated.
I was 23! All of us girls were nuts over Steve. He wasn't called The Voice for nothing!

The best music is from 70th, 80th, no autotone ❤

I will never not be upset by the fact that I didn't get to experience the 80's

And Steve hurt his hand when he banged on the side of the building on the word PAIN.
The original is definitely fire

React to After the Fall by journey. It's a super song and video
*Early 80s music videos were low concept and nearly no budget!*
Its time for FOREIGNER
This is my favorite journey song, I know them well because they’re my moms favorite, but this video soooooo cheesy 80’s 😂. It’s almost painful to watch 😂. And I was born in 82’ so I’m an 80’s baby. But the song is amazing.

I don’t like you! Seems like you making fun of it ! And then you yawning ! And I don’t understood most of what you were saying ! Weird !!!
