For all of us with Anxiety, we can identify with this song. The 'shadow selves' walking behind them starts out going forward and they reverse and start going backwards. This is superbly shot and their emotion in their faces and voices just show how we feel when we are in an anxiety attack. 10 seconds in when Matt hits us with his first low note I got chills, and when Mitch said 'See right through me', I choke on a sob. I have seen this video over 25 times now and it still affects me.
This cover was beautifully done. I love this group. They have made some changes to the group (original Bass Avi was replaced by Matt). All other members are from the original group. You have Scott (blonde bombshell voice)he is also Bass and will take over bassline occasionally. Kevin is the beatboxer of the group who also sings in a higher range and plays cello. Kirsten is messo soprano and holds down melody along with Mitch. Mitch (dark hair bombshell voice) has one of the craziest ranges I've ever heard. If you really wanna be smacked silly go watch their Daft Punk Medley! You won't be disappointed
Not the most popular, but one of the best for showing all their skills, from harmonies to arrangement: Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. No instruments, no words = 1 Grammy.
I hope you’ve started a list! As you can tell we Pentaholics pretty much love everything PTX releases! LOL! Obligatory listens: Sound of Silence, Daft Punk Medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. My favs currently are Come Along, Shallow, New Rules/Are You That Somebody mashup, Happy Now!!! I’m along for the journey!
They do many different genres. I recommend: Folk rock: Sound of Silence Classic rock: Bohemian Rhapsody Indie rock: The Dog Days are Over Punk: Daft Punk (1st Grammy) Classical: Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (2nd Grammy) Disney: Can You Feel the Love Tonight? Metal: Born to be Wild Country: Jolene (3rd Grammy) Hip Hop: Can't Hold Us and, of course, there are the Christmas songs. You can pretty much pick your favorite and they have done it. My personal favorite is Mary, Did You Know? even though that might not technically be a Christmas song.
@@Spartan_777 Thank you. I left out a few. They also do Infant: Light in the Hallway Toddler: Pentatonix Counts (& Sings) to Five and then there are the Evolution videos which show a progression over the years. My favorites are Evolution of Music and Evolution of Michael Jackson. They also so the evolution of Arianna Grande, Rihanna, and Beyonce.
Daft Punk is electronic. Born To Be Wild by Steppenwolf is rock, not metal. The lyric phrase "heavy metal" was referring to motorcycles, not to any music genre.
Imagine, Sound of Silence, Gold, Evolution of Michael Jackson, Run to You, Mary Did You Know, Daft Punk (won a Grammy), Bohemian Rhapsody. I'm a new subscriber as long as you're doing Pentatonix or some older stuff like Journey with Steve Perry.
@@chrispavlich9656 Me three !! Love PTX and also Journey...(yes, with Steve)... Def Leppard...Queen....anything with heaps of harmonies...great vocals...
Tears for Fears! Not Tears of Fears! Lol! A great band from the 80's. Pentatonix did a good job. Roland wrote it as he was suffering a lot from depression as a youngster and he used to hide in his room when his parents were arguing and he used to write songs as a kind of therapy.
"the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had " also eludes to thoughts of Suicide. I'm tired of crying and going nowhere. I can't see a wait out and I find it hard to talk to anyone about it. I'm depressed.
Just before this song, Pentatonix released their first original in a long time called Happy Now. It's great! They do excellent covers in every genre. They did a great job on Jolene with Dolly Parton (which they won a Grammy for), they covered Bohemian Rhapsody, Havana, Imagine, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, and more. They also do amazing Evolution medleys where they cover the entire works of artists like Rhianna, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Ariana Grande, and Daft Punk (which they won their first Grammy for).
Pentaholics call it The Wall of Sound, best heard in their cover of Imagine or Mary Did You Know. Great reactions. Also if interested can you react to a female a cappella group called Citizen Queen, their cover of Bad Guy by Billie Eilish is great.
you are the first reactor who has understood that the line 'the dreams in which i'm dying are the best i've ever had' was never meant as suicidal ideation or deepest depression, but transformative. When Tears for Fears released the original, i felt like it had been taken from my thoughts - the world is mad, people act in ways that don't make sense, there's a rule-book out there that everyone's got but me. Nowadays everyone seems to think this is the ultimate in depressive songs, but for me it's still a theme-song for my life.
Yes! There's a video of a fairly recent interview with Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, talking about the book Primal Scream and the meaning of the line about dreams--that the most dramatic dreams are the most helpful in releasing deep tension. (I'm sure that's a very inadequate explanation, but it makes sense to me.)
Covers done well.....Sound of Silence and Bohemian Rhapsody... especially if you want hear Kevin's beatboxing talents. Another great cover is Imagine. Keep up the great job and stay safe.
Subscribed!! Looking forward to seeing more Pentatonix reactions from you. I've been a die-hard Pentaholic since 2011. Love watching people discover their unbelievable talent.
Another great cover in a brighter bouncier vein (despite the subject of the song!) is their cover of Charlie Puth's "Attention." Each of them gets a different spotlight in that one. (PS: It's time to start learning those names!) Thanks so much for doing these reactions. I love your style.
An interesting way of reacting. Certainly different than any other reaction I've seen. I think I liked it. You might want to do their cover of imagine next. Ir literally shows you how different 5 people can be but how they can still be one human. It also has a "wall of sound" in it.which I think we all love and they do it better than most. There are a ton of recommendations I could give you but I have this feel imagine should be next.
Movers are coming in 7 hours Lesley!! Thank goodness. My best friend will be back in town...But boy was it not fun getting there lol she has back problems so insisted on doing the work and do it I did lol. Taking a break right now hoping someone had reacted to Mad World. How are you lol
If you've got Maggot Brain on the shelf, I know they'll be good music here 🎶 I have to say I'm a bit of a older pentaholic ...I went to see them in Toronto and they were fantastic! A video that really shows a stripped-down performance is Someone that I used to know from Gyote 😊👍 Nice reaction !Thanks
Fantastic reaction ! I LOVE PTX. Try listening to "RISE" by Superfruit, (Scott and Mitch, who are Superfruit, with Brian Crum, Mario and also Mary Lambert), which they put together for a tribute after the PULSE CLUB shooting in Florida. It is excellent and powerful ! This song Mad World is from Tears For Fears in the 80s. I also love their Billie Eilish"s "When the Party's Over." Have a fun day !
Their covers are great but how about trying some of their originals? My favorites are Happy Now, Sing, That's Christmas to Me, Light in the Hallway, and Run to You.
I shall subscribe when you react to their "Sing Off" season 3 performances, an A Capella singing competition. That is where Pentatonix formed the group. And we Pentaholics enjoy re-watching the "Sing Off" with new Pentaholics.
I would love you to do one of their songs that is more upbeat so you can see Kevin’s beatboxing skills as well. You’re right they can pretty much do any song
You dont have to react it but if you want to get the back story of how they became a group. Check out Pentatonix the song off. You will not be disappointed. Also you should check out Voiceplay(another a Capella group) The Oogie Boogie Song from the nightmare before Christmas
I would likr yoi to chrck out my favorite song from the '60's... FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH by Buffalo Springfield...To me, It applies as much today as it did then......
This one I didn't like in '82 or when it came around again nor the new version. If I want to be depressed or anxious I don't need music to get me there. Very well done though as usual for them.
Their original songs, 'Sing' and 'Run to You' are amazing.

"I guess they could cover anything, though." Truer words were never spoken.

Haunting ... another clever arrangement at the service of the song and their voices. Great reaction. 🤗
Another song recorded and filmed in isolation, yet their perfection in both timing and harmonies shines through.
Not the most popular, but one of the best for showing all their skills, from harmonies to arrangement: Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. No instruments, no words = 1 Grammy.
I think it should be one of their most popular cause it’s freaking mind blowing!
Great Pentatonix reaction. Subscribed in hopes of seeing more!
Nice reaction. Thanks. Glad that you enjoyed the PTX cover.
After my husband passed, I put this on loop for about 4 days straight. Pentatonix is amazing...so velvety smooth.
I hope you’ve started a list! As you can tell we Pentaholics pretty much love everything PTX releases! LOL! Obligatory listens: Sound of Silence, Daft Punk Medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. I love your reaction it was a great song and I love the Matt (bass) and Mitch ( high tenor) harmonizing......
Excellent reaction. Join us falling down the Pentatonix rabbit hole. It's a great ride.
Stark, lush, luminous, haunting.

Any of them are great. PTX just continually crank out ear candy another good one "Love Again" and the collaboration with Lindsey Sterling Radioactive.

You should react to Run to you (it’s an original) and Imagine. Just WOW
No excuses not to know their names. Scott,Matt, Mitch, Kirsten, Kevin in the order they were singing. Nice reaction..thanks
Just don't miss out on their original songs as well. PTX are amazing.

Another lovely reaction. Seriously, who wants to see Mitch do the dance from the original? Maybe Mace can give a it ago when he hits 40K subs.

Please do some research on this group, so VERY TALENTED. Many songs original and covers.
Matt + Mitch = perfection!
More PTX! “Bohemian Rhapsody” or “Imagine” would be great. Thanks for posting.

Hey Sean
I shall subscribe when you react to their "Sing Off" season 3 performances, an A Capella singing competition. That is where Pentatonix formed the group. And we Pentaholics enjoy re-watching the "Sing Off" with new Pentaholics.
If they can do Bohemian Rhapsody a capella, you're right, any song is up their alley. ✌
I would love you to do one of their songs that is more upbeat so you can see Kevin’s beatboxing skills as well. You’re right they can pretty much do any song
Check out their original song "Love Again" as well as "Mary Did You Know"
I always liked Adam Lambert's version of this on Am Idol.
I did too. I think this song comes very close if not surpasses it. I'll have to go listen again.
Gold, Cracked, The Sing Off(season 3),Wizard Of Ahhh's
Mace you need to checkout Bohemian Rhapsody. You will be amazed that 5 people could create so much sound without any instruments or effects.
Check out Superfruit Anti-Medley of Rihanna and their cover of Rise by Katy Perry❣❣
"Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from the Lion King is another great cover by PTX.
daft punk is great for arrangement they take several songs and combine into one cohesive song
PTX just dropped a new (original) song: Be My Eyes
At the point of covering everything, check out Bohemian Rhapsody or Daft Punk :D
Do an upper one! BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, DAFT PUNK; so many
You should check out Happy Now for a different side of them. It's more upbeat.
And here is Voctave with PTX's Kirstin Maldonado. Hope you enjoy! ruclips.net/video/zLMeDUBKmBs/видео.html

Tears For Fears put a lot of themes from therapy sessions into their songs.

Daft Punk!
not bad. POPPY did it better.
1- Who’s POPPY?
2-Why are you commenting that ANOTHER artist does it better?
3-Does POPPY do it acapella?
I just looked up the POPPY version and now I realize you were joking. Good on you trying to amuse us.
