The second child of King Endrin Aeducan is actually the Dwarf Noble origin - if you played either Dwarf origin, your choice of who to back in Orzammar is much more clear-cut for that character
Not necessarily... the male dwarf noble has a solid chance to see the injustices of the caste system in the "of noble birth" quest if he sleeps with Mardy, and depending on the player's choices, he may or may not be any better than Bhelen in terms of shady dealing.
TBH there's still a good argument for picking Bhelen as a dwarf noble. Respect of the game, he knows how to manipulate Orzammars politics. Plus, there's the conversation where Bhelen reveals your dad actually killed his own brother too so it's pretty par for the course.
Hang on... That implies that all the origins do happen, it's just you're choosing which one to play as. Which feels quite important - like how there's an heir to the Dwarven throne floating around somewhere. Do we get to meet any of them that we didn't play as?

Note while watching for a future play through (if you play on your own outside of the channel): take Zevran to Orzammar sometime. He has a really interesting comment when talking to Dulin Forender outside of the Assembly about Harrowmont (which was particularly interesting with my Aeducan who was having a really rough couple of hours when we first got to Orzammar...)
Also, adding onto that, I love the Dwarf Noble (Aeducan) origin and firmly believe that my Kamen Aeducan survived the exile even without meeting Duncan/the Wardens (by the time he met Duncan at the end of the origin, he’d found a full set of armor minus boots plus a sword and a shield). Jon’s reasoning about choosing a king is opening my eyes a bit. I’ve always gone with Harrowmont, but I might change that in my current playthrough, or at least get me to explore the options a bit more. Thanks!
i would love a livestream someday where you do all of the other DAO origins you didn't do for this playthrough-especially if you do it after you finish so you can see how everything ties in. The noble dwarf origin (Aeducan) is by far my favorite, though the city elf one (Tabris) is close behind
You can get the woman's child into the maternal caste family if you talk with her parents, or you can get her a job. It involves going a distance both ways, but I always picked those because they seemed like better options than going to the surface due to the Darkspawn and her having a baby. Make sure you explore your options in dialogue when you can to look for different solutions.
Actually they cut like 90 percent of content from the game to meet deadline including multiplayer mode. I was disappointed frostback mountains wasn't a full region the size of Brecialian forest.
There is no other heir Jon The child who the note talks about is you, if you choose to be a Dwarf Noble. And no you can't take the throne. You give up all claims to it when you became a Warden
It is funny though I think how the player character cant get a title back after becoming a warden but a main part of the game is doing just that for alistair.
It is funny wardens are supposed to be politically neutral and give up all claims but as this series has shown most never truly do, hell we aren’t allowed to be politically neutral, and we can even point this out to bhelen
A Warden is a prison keeper. Adam Weisshaupt was the founder of the Illuminati. In the game the wardens have Weisshaupt fortress. So the wardens are the Illuminati and the rest of us are the prisoners. Aside from your fellow warden Alistair, and the Mabari guard dog, your entire team are spies, murderers, outcasts, prisoners, apostates, and assassins. Every single one of them is a menace to society, except maybe Wynne. She is more like a Warden.

Horrowmount: good guy Upholds traditions good and the bad Bhelin: progressive about trade and cast if he can use it to his benefit. Spoiler: Bhelin is a bad choice if he gets the anvil making a force army of golems from cast-less an those he doesn’t like. If he docent get the anvil he is a good choice has a longer rule good rule. Horrowmount has a short and worth less rule he gets killed and you are back to square 1. I don’t know what he those with the anvil but the anvil is never good.
Spoiler: Bhelen is always a good choice, without surfacer arnies dwarven civilisation will die. I never thought of the anvil aspect of bhelen's rule, you make a reasonable point with king bhelen, but I'm convinced golem craft is necessary for the survival of the dwarven race.
Please tell me he picked those Gloves of Diligence (part of armor set) offscreen. One of better gloves armor value wise and well worth a penny. Because in video he just picked gift and closed that chest in shaperate
When you play as a Duster, your sister is in a good relationship with Bhelen, and she has a son with him. Choose to side with him, good things happen for them, but your nephew is the bastard heir of a kin-slayer. If you choose Harrowmont, your sister still has the heir of a great house but hates you for destroying her future as a likely queen. I sided with Harrowmont with the fewest votes, meaning he likely won't rule long, giving my nephew the best chance at being raised by a good mother and maybe be a king or ancestor of one. It hurt when she yelled at me, but it was with the future of all Dwarfs in mind.
Love Orzammar and the deep roads, so much history and culture. Take what people say about Bhelen/Harrowmont with a grain of salt - it's politics and they're fighting for who becomes king. Some very ugly stuff happening in the background, you need to reserve judgement till you know more. Fact check claims made. You actually see the king storyline directly if you do the dwarf start, one of my favs.
hey Jon, just a quick note, if I am not mistaken I think the maximum bonus you can get for an elemental dmg is 30 %; which means its not worth it to stack that much cold dmg on Morrigan , the staff alone and robes will do the trick, change her rings and gloves to another elemental bonus.
unfortunately - Harrowmont is more like a Liberal noble/Marquis de LaFayette type, working within societies rules while willing to reform and interested in empathy and good governance, whereas Bhelen is more the Andrew Jackson/Napoleon type, willing to break some of societies rules but cynically using that extension of "freedom" just to benefit himself.
In the house of Aeducan Ken and Ryu fight for the throne, but it's a double knockout so guile becomes king. It's quite amusing when you compare all the characters to street fighter.
That is an unfair characterisation. Bhelen's methods of attaining the crown were underhanded and ruthless, but (spoiler:) his rule is almost nothing but good governance. Whatever Bhelen's ultimate motivations, his ideas result in good and beneficial changes. Harrowmont's not interested in empathy, he's interestedd in upholding tradition and the status quo and the horrible caste system. He lets dwarven pride and isolationism refuse Ferelden help - freely given. It's not like Bhelen feels empathy for the casteless(probably) but he recognizes reforming the caste system, and other things, is good for the kingdom.
Also ... Jon Jon Jon ... you know Morrigan can move to get a better angle, right? And she has vulnerability debuffs that make the ice even more powerful, right? Tactics turn really powerful into ridiculously overpowered in this game. Just saying...
Take everything with a massive grain of salt. Here's my take on which candidate to sponsor: Take Bhelen. Harrowmont is a good man, maybe even a great one, by any and every metric and unlike he doesn't have spies, assassins, nor does he do any shady politiking like bribery. But he's also a traditionalist. He'd maintain the status quo, even things like the Casteless. Bhelen, meanwhile, is utterly slimey and shady. No doubt he orchestrates things, falsifying documents and assassinating the competition, in his favor and I also have no doubt he killed his two brothers and maybe even his father. But he's a progressive with Orzammar's best interests at heart. He sees how the Casteless could be put to good use, so many idle hands that could take up the sword in defense of Orzammar or take a hammer and tongs to build for the city. He sees how Orzammar is dependent on the surface to survive and he sees how the nobles are busy squabbling over the same ever-shrinking land instead of reclaiming lost dwarven lands. He might even take out the Assembly to maintain absolute power for himself, but even then Bhelen is still the best candidate and will put the good of Orzammar over stagnating in tradition.
I am screaming at my screen. You are doing it wrong!!! 😱🤯 Since the first episode. I always respec Morigan and get rid of her shape-shifting skill and give her acrane warrior. She gets elemental damage points, fire, frost, and electricity. But first points go to the arcane bolt, mage shield, and arcane mastery. It helps her spells not be interrupted. Don't bother with mental and hexes. She needs magic, willpower and dex. Allister is always in my party. He needs con, strength, and willpower. I later give him dex. But he is a great tank. He hasn't even picked up ogren yet, and gave away all the alcohol gifts..SMH. He also leaves the party at camp unequiped, you will need everyone equipped for the end game. You also, should exhaust every speech route, you learn back story and progress any romances. It won't start on its own.

i would love a livestream someday where you do all of the other DAO origins you didn't do for this playthrough-especially if you do it after you finish so you can see how everything ties in. The noble dwarf origin (Aeducan) is by far my favorite, though the city elf one (Tabris) is close behind
I love this game, and this playthrough!
In regards to the other heir - that's more an easter egg referencing the dwarven noble background.
Did John just skim over the fact that he was given a quest when he examined the thrown (caged in stone)
Last episode: Harrowmont seems the way to go
This episode: Ah, propaganda - Bhelen seems the way to go...
xD
Oh Jon... What have you done??? Never ever believe the first person you talk to when dealing with politics.
Talk about rules for life… 😃
Why do I think now that Claire doesn’t let him vote for this very reason
Enchantment?
Enchantment!
Ah the deep roads, the dungeon that goes on and on and on and…
Actually they cut like 90 percent of content from the game to meet deadline including multiplayer mode. I was disappointed frostback mountains wasn't a full region the size of Brecialian forest.
There is no other heir Jon
The child who the note talks about is you, if you choose to be a Dwarf Noble. And no you can't take the throne. You give up all claims to it when you became a Warden
it's not really when you become warden (otherwise alistair couldn't be king either) but when you got exiled you lost the claim
26:50 nope its one of the there backgrounds, you even went into another one's house earlier
I really enjoy your shit man
Im dr&nk and h)gh as fuck but still trying to finish your fucking episode i just love it man, keep on doing your thing man here you have your #1 mexican fan
48:00 Dude was minding his own business and you just froze him. Good job, you monster.
Would you just keep standing there if a big murder spree was happening right in front of you?
Hiho, hiho, it's off to the Deep Roads we go!
Jon walking away from the Gloves of Diligence like they're low-tier trash smh
'Bhelen' sounds like 'Bell end'
It is funny he started with castless considering their lore and were their loyalty is for
Now that FO4 YOLO is over, I realize why he's playing dragon age. It's chill, it's a totally different gameplay style.. and he's gonna get an easy 75+ episodes out of this beast. It's a great game, thought he was gonna go through it quick but no reason to
If he wants to do everything in inquisition it might be a hundred or so
The Dust Town vendor should have had a really powerful set boots I believe called Efforts Boots, did you grab them? I noticed you said you didn't see anything interesting which makes me think you missed them. The other peices of the set can be found in the deep roads.
I'm about halfway through the series so far, yet with the start of the Deep Roads, I'm curious to see how Jon reacts to the 'Golem process.' However, must not skip episodes... must not skip episodes...
Really enjoying the playthrough, though. ❤
Yes, you could've talked to her parents, or or or, you should've helped Brother Burkle first. He would have helped both the child and mother in the Chantry
I know it’s been commented but I dunno about if it was addressed by you Jon but there is aoe friendly fire from Shale. It’s just negligible on the quick fights. And it is reduced when not on highest difficulty.
lol, next episode is gonna be good.
Jon: you can now ask Nadezna abut the carta and she has some worthwhile insight
Horrowmount: good guy Upholds traditions good and the bad
Bhelin: progressive about trade and cast if he can use it to his benefit.
Spoiler:
Bhelin is a bad choice if he gets the anvil making a force army of golems from cast-less an those he doesn’t like.
If he docent get the anvil he is a good choice has a longer rule good rule.
Horrowmount has a short and worth less rule he gets killed and you are back to square 1. I don’t know what he those with the anvil but the anvil is never good.
If I remember correctly thou not completely certain he has a similar situation with anvil as bhelin does but I mostly chose bhelin so I could be wrong
Spoiler:
Bhelen is always a good choice, without surfacer arnies dwarven civilisation will die.
He is doing a poor equipment playthrough, me thinks. He missed out on 100 gold and the helm of honnleath.
It's a shame Jon didn't go with a Behelend pun for is title, but I suppose it's not very on brand
You love Paralyze Poison Jon. Use Fleshrot Poison. It's the best one.
i love you yon
It seems Jon was backing the wrong horse. Oh dear..
There is no right or wrong choice here; it's all perspective.
@@Spootington Debatable
Keep your eyes open there is a note about another BioWare Game in which a paylode takes a major role.
I AM KROO - wait wrong game, let’s try again - HERE COMES OOOOGHREEN
You can play both sides and even if you don't you will get a choice to betray who you want at the end of deep roads
The second child is your character if you play a Dwarf Noble
It doth toll for theelen.
I wonder if they'll ever make it to Ivarstead..?
For a moment I thought, did Jon just make a Metallica reference, but after a quick google search, he probably made an Ernest Hemingway reference
Did you get Ageless
Love Orzammar and the deep roads, so much history and culture.
Take what people say about Bhelen/Harrowmont with a grain of salt - it's politics and they're fighting for who becomes king. Some very ugly stuff happening in the background, you need to reserve judgement till you know more. Fact check claims made. You actually see the king storyline directly if you do the dwarf start, one of my favs.
Will you be killing the other dragon that you had the horn for?
hey Jon, just a quick note, if I am not mistaken I think the maximum bonus you can get for an elemental dmg is 30 %; which means its not worth it to stack that much cold dmg on Morrigan , the staff alone and robes will do the trick, change her rings and gloves to another elemental bonus.
The cap is 50 percent.
Make morrigan use the spirit prison spell. It's effective.
unfortunately - Harrowmont is more like a Liberal noble/Marquis de LaFayette type, working within societies rules while willing to reform and interested in empathy and good governance, whereas Bhelen is more the Andrew Jackson/Napoleon type, willing to break some of societies rules but cynically using that extension of "freedom" just to benefit himself.
In the house of Aeducan Ken and Ryu fight for the throne, but it's a double knockout so guile becomes king. It's quite amusing when you compare all the characters to street fighter.
That is an unfair characterisation. Bhelen's methods of attaining the crown were underhanded and ruthless, but (spoiler:)
his rule is almost nothing but good governance.
To orzammar!!!!!
Eyo hope im not being anoying but can you do a video on the game highfleet? Thx
If views drop below 20k, will you continue uploading your DAO playthrough?
"Everything is very short down here"
Wow jon what an insensitive dwarf joke, you should be ashamed.
10:54
Why where some of the dwarves holding staves they can't use magic
They just used the stave asset to be like scepters.
"Lord Harrowmont is a, errrr, weak man! And he will be a weak king! Yes!"
jon there isnt another heir the other heir is you if you choose to be a dwarven noble
nadezda
Shoulda went to the Diamond Quarter first
I picked Bhelen on my first run. Then I played Dwarf Noble and my opinion changed.
Spoiler:
Did it? It was clear Bhelen's a scumbag but he's competent and progressive. If your opinion changed to the point of choosing harrowmont, you've doomed orzammar
