    This was replayed in memory of Pat Morita after his passing. They's also done the same for Buck Owens, Don Adams, Nipsey Russell, Jack Narz, Leslie Nielsen and few other late greats after their respective passings.

    H/H match update:
    ...
    Today's action:
    Our reigning champion needed four celebs to "tinkle" in order to achieve a tie. But that much "wetting" wasn't in (or on) the cards (only CNR matched), so he's defeated after two games, but he won $6,200! And now we have a new champion in center stage.
    Today's audience match question: " Buster _________ " (My thoughts: Crabbe, Keaton, Browne)
    The celebs: Brett (Brown), Lee (Crabbe), and Charles (Keaton)
    The choice: Brown
    The answers: Crabbe, Keaton, Brown
    Time for our guessing game. She definitely doesn't strike me as a hard-core member of Team Richard, given that she didn't even call on him. She called on Brett first and took her answer, so maybe Brett? Well, let's see...
    Wow, it's Brett! Brett last played a four-game streak from 745-748, matching two of the four questions. Looking back a bit further, she's matched six of her ten most recent attempts. I think she's my favorite celeb to watch playing the H/H because she gets so comically verklemt and can really agonize over her answers.
    (Oh, and I don't want to put any pressure on her, but if she misses, her accuracy score will drop below Richard's for the first time in about five months...)
    Today's H/H question: " _______ Tea"
    (Wow. The first thing I thought of was iced tea, but I don't have a strong intuition about it. )
    Brett considers the question for a brief moment, then begins to write. It looks like she sets the first card aside, and then wrties a second answer. She shakes her head and files it away. Fairly fast response time for Brett, and with a minimum of consternation.
    The contestant says "Black." I don't really think that sounds too likely. Then again, I'm in 2023 and the contestant is in 1976, so maybe black tea was more of a thing than I remember.
    Well, as usual, I matched Brett. She said "Iced."
    No match today.
    ~~~~~Yes, Richard and Brett swap places on the leader board for the first time in about 20 weeks, and perhaps the eighth or ninth time overall that they've trades places!
    Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy:
    (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.)
    (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.)
    Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts).
    Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts).
    TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    Charles - 51.0% (27 wins in 53 attempts).
    Betty - 50.0% (18 wins in 36 attempts).
    Fannie - 47.8% (11 wins in 23 attempts).
    Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts).
    Richard - 41.6% (187 wins in 449 attempts).
    Brett - 41.3% (26 wins in 63 attempts).
    Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts).
    *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 762, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
      @hagstruan1140 7 лет назад +12
      Asking if someone was "ac / dc" used to mean that you were asking if they were bisexual. So I guess asking "AC or DC" is asking if they're gay or straight.
    After watching so many of these in a row I am starting to find Brett annoying attention seeker. Like Charles I would have buster in the mouth. She never seems to listen much she said wasn't funny but I guess at the time her humor worked. It doesn't on me
    • @magikexpert
      @magikexpert 4 года назад +3
      NO, she wasn't funny. She was annoying and obnoxious though. She NEVER shuts up, and interrupts everyone. No, her humor wasn't funny then either. You'll notice how much she gets booed. Then makes a bigger spectacle of herself. Sometimes Gene even has enough and tells her to shut up. Or to mind her own business that it's his show and if someone has a question or needs help he'll do it. I've been laid up with a surgery, so I've been watching a LOT of these! Basically from 73-74 until now. In order. So I'm becoming a Match Game authority. lol
      I guess that's why they make vanilla and chocolate, as they say, because I loved Brett when I was a kid in the '70s, and I love her now in these time capsule episodes. There's something about her that makes we want to give her a big hug. She gets some really great lines in at times, but of course some of her quips bomb (the same can be said of Charles and Richard). I can see how she could rub some people wrong, though. I especially love her and Fannie because they manage to roast each other pretty well, and you can see and feel the love between them, and also between Brett and Charles, obviously.
    Did anyone else notice how there isn't any random audience chatter in the opening titles? This pretty much confirms my suspicion the sound was added in post. Both the previous and subsequent episode still have it, but this one does not. Interesting.
    Question B: "Well, you know what C. S. Lewis said: how a really coarse, unromantic person looks at Niagara Falls, sees all that water, and all he can think to do with it is MAKE SOME TEA." (Bzzt!)
    Part 2: SWEET
    Nagy-Goldsmith, round 1, question B: "Yeah, you have to be pretty desperate to kiss pigs - but not as desperate, I think, as if you kissed the BULL." (Bzzt!)
    Question A: "You know, I actually thought of that - but I couldn't remember Mafiosi being big on explosives, so I went with the HORSE'S HEAD." (Bzzt!)
