Thanks for sharing your story! I'm 31 and have suspected for the past 6 or so years that I have ADHD, but I haven't been tested yet. I did speak to one psychiatrist for depression meds, but he doesn't like to diagnose adults with ADHD. I suspect that's common from what I've read online. Though I have seen a therapist who did say she thought I may had ADHD, which does help a bit with the imposter syndrome that you mentioned. Glad to hear you didn't have too much trouble receiving your diagnosis. Though I suppose for you, without medication, it's more to explain why you have struggled with certain tasks in the past, especially if you weren't even suspecting you had ADHD until recently.
I did the same! Kept video diaries on another channel only to accidentally delete that channel, not realising I hadnt kept the original vids on my computer 😢😢😢 a very ADHD thing to do! Just gotta laugh though 😅
Great start. It’s a deep journey as you learn how many things you do that are influenced by your brain. I was diagnosed 10 years ago at 45. I went on meds for a few years then felt I didn’t need them anymore. I just went back on them today because it was really starting to interfere with my job. But I mainly focus on meditation, exercise and clean foods. Sleep is a big one, too. I look forward to your journey! And would also love to see your photos!
Thanks for the comment :) . Yes i've learnt a lot over the past 2-3 months from support groups, youtube etc. I would love to try some kind of meds to help with focus but it's a no-go for me, although i am looking into guanfacine as a non stimulant option, as it's proven to work very well.
well spotted ! It is indeed. I tried a 90D before and whilst the spec is higher I wasn't keen on it, so spent the money on a canon 100-400 lense instead of the 90. The 80D is great, but it gets pretty noisy when you start to increase the ISO even from about 2500.
Undiagnosed ADHD here, I'll be 65 in July. The ability to sit for so long and concentrate is called Hyper concentration I believe and is also typical for ADHD. My youngest daughter was recently diagnosed and told me all about the testing and that's how I became aware that I have it, too! I'm your first comment and your first subscriber so I would like to see pics of the birds please.
Hi, yep hyperfocus is indeed a thing. The weird thing is though that even when i'm hyperfocused at work i can still get sidetracked.. whereas out and about doing bird stuff i don't. I guess it is a form of hyperfocus though, albeit one which comes about from a sense of relaxation. Have you got a diagnosis coming up soon?
@@ducktheboardrubber Yes, or hyper fixation, too. No, no diagnose yet. I have an appointment with my gp on 31st and will probably bring it up but whether to go down that long and winding NHS road or just get myself properly informed? I'm still in two minds about it.
@@gideonhathaway4284 you can also go down the right to choose path, which will shorten the wait times to around 6-9 months, maybe a bit longer but certainly within a year. I would personally get diagnosed just to rule out other conditions which can also mimic adhd.
@@ducktheboardrubber Thanks so much for that snippet of vital information! I had never heard of the right to choose path so had to ask my friend Google for info 🙂 I find the whole process to be very interesting! I will print out the form tomorrow and take it to my gp. Thanks again for the info. And yes, I'm slowly coming round to accepting a diagnosis.
@@gideonhathaway4284 some people have trouble with asking their Doctor, as they may say you can't do it. However, it is a legal right for you to request right to choose, so if they say no, do not give up. All Doctors have to adhere to right to choose rules. You are very authentically ADHD 😅🫣🤗 I'm turning 46. Starting therapy for depression next week. But I think it's ADHD. I tick too many boxes. Now I have to get to know myself again. For me it's plants, digging in dirt. Good luck to you! Thanks for the video
haha yes, i think it's obvious from the videos how easily i get distracted and how many times i repeated myself :D A good psychiatrist/assessor should be able to tell the difference between ADHD and Depression. There's a lot of overlaps, but generally ADHD depression doesn't tend to last long, maybe a few hours, or a couple of days, before you bounce in the opposite direction. Clinical depression is much more sustained from what i understand. Please feel free to pop back for the next video. I think i'm going to discuss RSD next.
@@adibranch I hope and think so as I only went to my GP. You take it easy and find the magic. I found out it is my superpower to be able to see the things that are not there. It gives people a new view (our view) that helps them to break out of what is already there. Switching the topic suddenly because I dare something. And see they stopped talking or thinking about their problems. It's a great personality traits. We just need to find a ways to ist it with a positive spin.
Recently diagnosed in my late 30s, thanks for sharing. I'm very curious to see your photos too!

Hear you on the reason for not editing 😂😂😂just starting out and same here! Fellow Adhd.
I'll give your channel a look :). But yes, keeping it unedited shows the clear lapses in concentration and losing track of thoughts .
Is your Canon an EOS 80D? I have that one. I bought it before ADD ever crossed my mind. Maybe that's why I was attracted to it.

I know this bloke, I think 🤔.
haha maybe, he's a local celebrity 😁
