Bowie is a legend for a reason. Changed his sound many times and it was always good. A true artist. You need to listen to the entire album. It's a classic from beginning to end with great songs!

If you ever saw the movie "The Martian", there is a scene where Matt Daman is floating weightless in his craft, hurtling across space and this song is played....incredible! Bowie is great and he always changes in each album.

Great reaction! This is from the album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" and I think you'd love the whole album.... it's a great introduction to the strange, beautiful alien that was David Bowie :)

I just found you because of your reaction to Roxy Music "Virginia Plain", so imagine my delight when I saw that you had just reacted to this, as well. And as I was looking for this I saw you also reacted to Wizzard "See My Baby Jive". If you are gonna stay on a roll with all this classic 70s UK Glam, then I'll definitely subscribe.

This is you being exposed to one hair on one eyebrow, (that he occasionally removed), and trying to grasp this man's genius. I would only suggest you continue to explore, because the spread of his influence cannot be analyzed by a million who are pouring over his work in wonder and awe. We are all to personally enamoured and involved. We cannot remove us from the man, because he is in our DNA.
I am wiped out, that he was here and he is gone. How could that be?

So happy to see you enjoyed this.
Have you listened to the entire RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS?
    It tells an entire story.

Roxy Music and Bowie are my all time favorites. I appreciate your musical explorations. Bryan and David were amazingly talented artists and innovators at very young ages. Bowie was in his early twenties when he developed Ziggy Stardust and this music. Imagine that.

    Hi :)
    I started as a Bowie fan about 1979 ...yes, I'm old, it's okay ;)
You will find that he changes style on every album, and with fifty years of work, that's a LOT of changes. No two albums sound exactly the same.

THat's the late, GREAT mick ronson on guitar and string arrangements. Bowie/Ronson, for my money one of the greatest duos in rock n roll history.

The thumbnail kinda bothers me, honestly. This song is from The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars, his 1972 album, but that picture, with the lightning bolt, isn't from that album, and isn't that character. It came from his 1973 album Aladdin Sane, and the character of Aladdin Sane is different from Ziggy Stardust. One is an alien, and the other is a schizophrenic war veteran.
This song is about people hearing Ziggy's songs on the radio. He's gonna come and save them from an apocalypse. The album is conceptual. That chorus was influenced by Judy Garland's Somewhere Over the Rainbow, from The Wizard of Oz. It's a classic.

If the chorus reminds you at all of "[Somewhere] Over the Rainbow," that's not an accident

Another David Bowie song that you should absolutely check out is Word on a Wing, live from Vancouver in 1976. That's a very passionate performance!!! 🙂💙

This is fantastic. I love David Bowie. Interestingly, there is a guy called Stevie Riks who impersonates people, and his version of David singing Starman is incredible.
