Cassettes renaissance went after vinyl renaissance. I bought near 130 brand new cassettes for last 2-3 years. Little part (maybe 10-15) are home recordings a.k.a. handmade by bands and garage labels but big part - pro tapes from serious labels - they sounds very good! Different genres but most of all are atmospheric black metal and post punk 😊 New fullprinted cassetes (fullcolor picture of album cover printed all over cassette) are mindblowing. P.S. I like my Sony Walkman WM-EX642 😊
NAC stands for National Audio company based out of Missouri. which they also make the talking books for the blind. I get some of my talking book cartridges from from them as well.
Last cassette tape I got was POD's the Fundamental Elements of Southtown back in 1999. LOL. But Metallica's most recent album 72 Seasons, I did purchase on CD and really enjoyed it on my Sony CFD-S300 boombox.
I went and bought the Pepto-pink Barbie vinyl! Also, just got the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 "Awesome Mix #3" cassette. That's my third brand new cassette (after 1 & 2).
Record labels have been releasing new albums on cassette since 2015. I am not too crazy about the labels releasing cassettes of full albums with paper sleeves. Looks too much like cassette singles.
I thought it sounded impressive, not knowing the music. The top end sounded nice and clean and I couldn't detect any dropouts. I haven't bought a cassette in decades and would have absolutely no idea about the last one I purchased.
Watertower Music is, from what I remember, exclusively a Warner Records label that is their Soundtrack label. The case that cassettes are/were sold is is technically called a “Philips Case”, which came from one of the creators of the cassette, and later CD, Philips.
Additional comment: Often a cardboard cassette single box was squashed but could be reshaped if you put the tape the other way round. The sleeve did make them thinner and sometimes there were inners which could be a poster or a lyric sheet, or whatever. Perhaps a postcard of the size of the tape also? They didn't offer any protection though, as they often fell out of the cardboard and the cardboard could also be squashed almost flat too.
As someone who digs kids’ music and other interesting oddities, this, however, is something that I’d NEVER expect you to cop, let alone talk about! The last cassette I bought-earlier this year-was “否 Place” by Smoke & Vapor only because it isn’t on CD, there were only two copies left, and the cassette had two extra tracks that aren’t available on the digital version. They say that in order to properly appreciate the whole vaporwave aesthetic is to listen to it and experience it on cassette, so I think that the format does this particular album justice in a weird way. I can make better-sounding cassettes with my Akai HX-R5 deck, but it’s in dire need of repair. Warner Bros. Inc./Warner Communications Inc./Time Warner/Warner Bros. Discovery hasn’t owned Atlantic Records since 2004, however, which is now part of Warner Music, a division of Access Industries, an entirely separate company. Watertower Music is the only label left that’s owned directly by the Warner Bros. studio, so the company wanted to keep one of its most successful projects of recent memory in-house, apparently. The number string starting with 07567 is indeed the catalog number. Peace.

Initial thoughts were that it looked more like a cigarette pack - before it was opened, or if it was squashed a bit. The cardboard meant they weren't as solid too. Regarding the Barbie one, I'd assume the album title was changed at some point because the title on the front is 'The Barbie Album', as opposed to 'Barbie Sounds'. Also, on a black background (as you had when the tape was in front of the Sony) it looked more pink; perhaps it's all to do with the lighting? Just saying.
12:03.Even today Sony still sells the last radio with a CD player and cassette player the CFD-S70. But the speaker quality is so bad considering that it is made by Sony. I am writing that from my experience.

Interesting a major label is producing a new cassette of a soundtrack of a current big-hit movie! I guess there is still an outfit that still makes actual tape cassettes. I wonder if it will be possible to buy brand-new blank cassettes again. As for the whole "Barbie" thing? No thanks. The Oppenheimer movie was really good though. As for the music on that Barbie album, well, as my mother used to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it". I'll just politely say I am not a fan. 🤢

The last audio cassette I bought was a used(?) Reader's Digest Romantic Strings album of 1940's music. It only set me back a dollar.

Sony cassettes from after 1993 rarely play anymore! (I call it sony tape syndrome) it is caused by the lack of lubrication on the tape surface.

I was wondering… It is pretty dark. It might be one of their cobalt type two… If it’s the company I’m thinking of they don’t have a chromium tape.

I actually never bought pre-recorded cassettes. I would buy blanks (Maxell or TDK) and record my albums so I could listen to them in my car.
