Yeah, it's decent, perhaps a little more than that. The inclusion of a grounding post is anyone's guess really. A bit further down the road, I'd be tempted to try an elliptical stylus on this. Nothing wrong with a conical as I always say, but I think I'd do with this what I did with the LP60X. Good speakers too.
Not a bad device. I like how it looks and at least from what I can tell through RUclips, seems to sound pretty good. BTW, I pulled up the manual. Yes, indeed the "teal" LED is the "line-out" mode. Also, according to the manual it DOES have Bluetooth OUT. However, the manual does not mention anything about what that grounding post is actually used for. It is labelled on the diagram showing the various controls and connections, but no mention of what it actually is used for. Perhaps they are using a common chassis/components for many of their products, so thus a grounding post just came along for the ride even though it was not going to be used on the particular product. Also to add, I am wondering if that audio delay is to mute the initial needle-drop to avoid any "kathunk" sound coming from the speakers.
Not all listening volumes need to be loud and annoying , there's a thing such as soft/peaceful and romantic which people that would play their record player at night or in the evening would be playing romantic music during some one on one time with their partner.
Honestly very impressed! Not what I'm looking for at the moment, but if anybody asks how they could play records, this would be an easy recommendation! Sound is engaging and lively, build quality looks great, nothing to knock (except maybe that back panel, lol). Thanks for sharing this.
this to me is worth the money ,love the speakers I love the seperate bass and treble controls for the money ,this was another great review Look forward to your reviews on turntables I think this is the best price point TT by crosley yet great job for crosley finally a system with bass and treble controls finally somebody heard me !!!!! JRo
A very very very interesting piece. Lots of things worth massive thumbs up. Not sure though if I like the sound coming out of this thing and that weird delay in the audio too. It's almost like even with the tone controls, it's designed to be artificially "warm" sounding. I believe there is some digital processing going on inside. If it was an analog circuit, there should NEVER be a noticeable delay between where the stylus contacts the record and the audio output from the speakers.
😂Awesome turntable with speakers. As a beginner in 1969, I would enjoy this set-up. My first two systems were terrible 😊 ha!! 1962, my parents had a Zenith record player, but not Stereo. I had a blast with it. Great share,& thx for the Memories .
This seems to be a nice enough unit that it makes me wonder if it is worth upgrading the cartridge to one of the AT-VM95 series cartridges. However, for such an inexpensive cartridge that AT-3600L is actually quite a good cartridge.
It sounds better than there suitcase players in my opinion plus the audio technica needle is usually pretty good compared to the cheep Chinese red needle on the suitcase player
HI!!!! I'm not going to wanna miss this! I have a Dual NR3 from my dad, I am waiting for a belt. It is kinda cheapy but not that bad to be honest. Just not my style. Nocturne was originally the nickname fpr harman/kardon receivers in the 70ies, with black face, stealth appearance.
I believe the 'delay' is actually so you don't hear the needle/stylus as it lands on the record. I noticed it was muted on most instances while you put the needle on the record (so to speak). The only time it didn't do this was a slight 'scratch'; all other times I feel it did a good job at preventing this. I'd say there wasn't a delay, or any processing, therefore. Just a bit of 'trickery' to avoid the 'pop' or 'click' when putting the needle down.🤔
Hope that you play more music of Enoch Light , the albums hard to find in the part of the Netherlands where i live , that,s the North of the Netherlands !!
Love the videos. Been on a binge recently of your turntable reviews. I’ve been wanting to get a cool 70s turntable, and was wondering if you’ve had any experience with the Crosley C72? I haven’t seen any videos on it anywhere on RUclips and was wondering if you’d be keen on reviewing it (sorry if that sounds “greedy” or asking too much). I consider you the “Crosley Guy” and value your opinions about Crosley systems more than others :)
Hi , another great video, speakers look great and it’s veneer not wrap , you don’t see these on expensive speakers , earth terminal interesting. Like the flat belt not usual round belt, plinth looks nice, great tone arm , the 3600 cartridge is not bad at all petty good, rega use that it’s called the carbon and it’s got anti skate too . Like the eq idea too. Not a bad basic deck with amp and speakers . Regards mark
Looks brilliant, but crosley hardly brings out gid yins like this in Scotland. Oh aye we get the crappy suitcase players, but the decent ones don't get a look in. I've bought the Auna Birmingham which leaves this in the shade!
Are the speakers passive or powered? I would say this is great system for anyone..... If works be a great side room / den.... Loving what they are doing. Them and Victrola.
@@Recordology Yes, those speakers are definitely passive. I will have to admit they do look nice. BTW, you mentioned in the video that it could use more stereo separation. Well, just move the speakers farther apart!
You should include in your videos when testing the speed of a turntable also the wow/flutter. You can do it with an app on your phone Not the most accurate method but it shows in general if a turntable rotates properly ✌️
Definitely going the right direction. Clearly not worth the money for somebody who knows what they're doing - for that, one can put together a vintage turntable and decent amp/speakers which are enormously better. For an older child or adult who has no interest in setting up their own system, perhaps I'm being too harsh. Maybe just right. Clearly, some level of logic in muting the sound for a second or so. Nothing wrong with that, my grandparent's Voice of Music changer did that back in the early 1960s.
Well, there are a few out there! The Pioneer PLX 500/1000, Audio Technica LP 120x series, Audio Technica 140/1240 series. Also the Technics 1200 series, Crosley C200, etc.
I have the audio-technica i bought at Walmart. I'm guessing that's better. I usually buy entry level but a reputable brand. I have 1 polk t30 and 5 polk t15 bookshelf speakers. It doubles as my home theater. I have a 20 year old pioneer vsk-515 avr I bought 20 years ago brand new. It definitely sounds better then cheap crap sold at Walmart, but it's also on a fairly tight budget
Fun system - good value. Still not sure what that grounding post was for though. What do you guys / gals think?

How can it be named "Nocturne" and not have a headphone output so you can play it at night without disturbing your neighbors?
That’s a fair point lol!
Not all listening volumes need to be loud and annoying , there's a thing such as soft/peaceful and romantic which people that would play their record player at night or in the evening would be playing romantic music during some one on one time with their partner.
I LOVE this Crosley - the only one I have ever seen with a bass control. I'd buy it.
Another nice, well thought-out system from Crosley. Great review.
They are upgrading their image. Nicely done review.

I think Crosley are on to a winner with the unit. I was very impressed with the sound - considering the price.
That,s a nice turntable set from Crosley nice design tonearm with magnetic cartridge and nice speakers to , greetings from Assen in the Netherlands !!

I noticed the anti-skate control, nice touch along with being able to change out the cartridge if you felt the need to.
Yes, but was it telling the truth? The weight was out a bit so perhaps the anti-skate needed a tweak too?

Wow that vinyl is beautiful lol

It's built well this machine

Very nice so far! Does it have a true Anti Skate?? You will show us that right??
The look is stunning, and the sound really drew me in. Thanks for the recommendation!

Hmmm looks familiar......might have been under a different name before. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Nice 👍 10:40 but the ortofon stylus for that thing works ok 👌 if your still thinking about it but we will take your word for that.
It has anti-skate control?
yes

I assume they are passive since the volume control is on the turntable side of the speaker connection.
@@Recordology Yes, those speakers are definitely passive. I will have to admit they do look nice. BTW, you mentioned in the video that it could use more stereo separation. Well, just move the speakers farther apart!
@6:22: "Seam-Seam-Sala-Beam". You must have been a fan of Johnny Quest. It was a term used by his pal Haji.
Second hand through my dad lol.
This or the AT LP70x? Obviously no speakers for the AT .
If it was an automatic turntable, then it would be perfect in my opinion.
Crosley, as I'm sure you know, is not the Crosley from times past (1921-1956). Modern Marketing Concepts has the Crosley name now.
Yes indeed.
You should include in your videos when testing the speed of a turntable also the wow/flutter.
You can do it with an app on your phone
Not the most accurate method but it shows in general if a turntable rotates properly ✌️
I'm no expert but pretty sure you don't want the speakers on the same table right next to the TT.
Lack of 78 would be a deal breaker for me, but attractive unit.
If you seriously want to play 78s, you have to use the right stylus, which in turn is not suitable for playing 45s and 33s.
That is a nice record player. I hope that’s in stores before too long because I want to get one for Christmas.
Tinted cover not smoked....
Definitely going the right direction. Clearly not worth the money for somebody who knows what they're doing - for that, one can put together a vintage turntable and decent amp/speakers which are enormously better.

Nerd
I wish that these modern manufacturers would invest in direct drive. Peace.

Yes it's an ok price but for that you can buy a Fluance Rt-81 but no speakers! Hmm Yeah or Nay!
