@paolaponcenails please correct that even WFH you can claim the Home Office expense on your tax return (Note: you have to file a Schedule C for your business) and claim square footage of your “nail office” proportionate to the whole house footage. Then the tax preparer will enter the “whole house expenses” and will take the part of it for the home office. That is absolutely legal, doesn’t matter if you continue WFH or not. Schedule C can be filed under SSN and doesn’t require the business registration with IRS (EIN) up to the point of having employees. Until you get to that point, you can easily operate the business under your SSN, just need to file it every year.
It’s legal in a house in Michigan however it has to have a sink, certain square footage and it has to have the proper signs and licensing.... however you can chest the system and do whatever you want outta the house in beauty industry by not having set prices and saying it’s a suggested price which means it’s considered a donation which then you don’t gotta follow said guidelines
So I’m going to a nail tech program so I can still make money on maternity when I have my baby! I was told I can promote my nails by posting pics and stuff so that means I can do peoples nails just as long as I don’t post set prices right? I’m making sure I understand this right haha!!
Hello I’m three years late here... but my question to you is if you only have suggested pricing do you still have to set it up as a work from home scenario or are you just doing nails from home not reporting anything?
What if you have one of those work live, lofts? It’s outfitted w/ a separate AC unit, I think the floor to ceiling wall is separate because it’s the entire bottom of the detached town house.
What advantages and/or disadvantages do you face when doing nails from home? What are the guidelines for your state?

Anything goes here in CT but your right by charging your worth, and I had stopped leaving home when I was. Beautiful video.
Thanks for the insight!
Yes the rules can vary greatly because they are imposed at the local level (city/county), not just state or country.
Informative class PP!
Thanks!

This is in OC
Could I still do my own nails at home and make a nail sanctuary just for me and my practice?
I don't see why not
At first I thought the gvt was gonna give stupid excuses but it makes sense why Is not allowed in certain areas.
