“A Lover's Concerto,” They Toys, 1965. The #10 hit in North America on December 1, 1965, this was another girl-group classic in an era where such sounds were as popular as the British Invasion in retrospect. The Toys were an American pop girl group from Jamaica, Queens, New York, which was formed in 1961 and disbanded in 1968.

    How gentle is the rain
That falls softly on the meadow,
    Birds high up the trees
Serenade the clouds with their melodies
Oh, see there beyond the hill,
The bright colors of the rainbow.
    Some magic from above
Made this day for us just to fall in love
    Now, I belong to you
    From this day until forever,
    Just love me tenderly
And I'll give to you every part of me.
Oh, don't ever make me cry
Through long lonely nights without us.
    Be always true to me,
Keep this day in your heart eternally.....

    This song from 1965.......was played
    Over radio stations thru America.
I was in the 1st grade at holy ghost
    School in jerseyville.illinois. sister
Ida stood there waiting for us to arrive
In morn for class. Her huge blk and
WHT habit scared all of us small
Kids. That huge habit and catholic
    Schools changed dramatically after
    The 1960s......yes they did.

I used to listen to this piece of piano music, but my hard disk broke down more than ten years ago and I lost it. Recently, I have spent a lot of time looking for hundreds of piano music online. I am glad to find it, and now I know that it is also a song sung by a person, which is equally good.

Four years old. Ohio. My sister and her transistor. I knew it was a great and special time and song. That was when doggies were part of the neighborhood and honey bees abounded. Play outside till the street lights come out when with big brother or sister. I did have it good. Wonder what happened? .... Anyway l was quite aware that song was gorgeous. 45 had a blue cover.

    Lyrics
    How gentle is the rain
That falls softly on the meadow?
Birds high up in the trees
Serenade the flowers with their melodies
Oh-oh, see, there beyond the hill
The bright colors of the rainbow
    Some magic from above
Made this day for us, just to fall in love
    Now, I belong to you
    From this day until forever
    Just love me tenderly
And I'll give to you every part of me
Oh-oh, don't ever make me cry
Through long, lonely nights without love
    Be always true to me
Keep this day in your heart eternally
    Someday we shall return
To this place upon the meadow
We'll walk out in the rain
Hear the birds above singing once again
Oh-oh, you hold me in your arms
And say once again you love me
And if your love is true
Everything will be just as wonderful
You'll hold me in your arms
And say once again you love me
And if your love is true
Everything will be just as wonderful
You'll hold me in your arms
And say once again you love me

My sister and I were driving to a Jimmy Buffett show several years ago and her ring tone sounded. She said that she had searched for name of that ring tone song for the last 3 years and couldn't find it. I asked her why she hadn't simply asked me. She looked at me and I said, that's "A Lovers Concerto" from a group named The Toys from 1965 and what else did she want to know. She looked at me again like I just told her exactly where Noah's Ark could be found. I could have saved her 3 years of searching anguish. Wonderful song that was performed just as wonderfully by the ladies.

Such beautiful lyrics. Someone who loves, caught up in the moment. Hoping, against hope, that it will last, forever. That raindrops, on the meadow, won't dry up, despite the rainbow. And, even if they do, that the rain will return, after they may have evaporated.
