Just finished mine!! Thank you for being a great teacher and providing such detailed tutorial!! I learned basics from my grandma when I was 10! Now 45 I’ve relearned this talent and I know I would have made my grandma proud.
Love the look of this shawl. Thank you for doing a tutorial on it as I’m pretty sure I would not be able to fully understand the written pattern. I was also surprised at how nice it turned out using 4 weight yarn. This pattern looks highly scalable.
@@TheCrochetCrowd Oh just that I found MB's version made it all seem a bit daunting. I actually put the shawl aside for a few months. You explain things very well, esp the bit about lining up after the h-dc rows. My version ended up with a lot of (discrete) adjustments! The end product was fine tho - as it so often is 😃
In real life... everything works out but this version of the pattern can lead us off track easily and sometimes we need to cheat the system and make it work. I found that with this project.
Thank you so much, Mikey, for your common sense tips (I certainly would not call them cheating) and description of stitch patterns, i.e. goal posts, railroad tracks. Certainly helps with a design that has multiple stitch patterns. Kudos. Excellent job
I was crocheting so much during the pandemic that I developed a trigger finger for which I had to get a painful injection. It went away after 3 weeks but now when I crochet for more than 30 minutes, my entire hand starts to ache so badly that I have to put ice on it. I'm so frustrated; I miss my crocheting!!!!
@@joannamickelson1976 yes! Omg the middle finger on my left hand is so painful atm. I assumed it was the crochet. I should probably get it checked out!
That scalloped edging is going to be my "first row" on as many projects as I can get away with it going forward. Much better than gazillions of chains and easier to count (x5 for an equivalent chain count, or what-have you)!
I love this shawl and am in the process of making a couple of them. I like the idea of lining up the shell sections. I did notice though that the turning single crochet at the beginning of each row is missing.
Im on row 5, I am noticing that my shawl is almost looking like it arches some. Do I need to frog and use a larger hook for the foundation shells; or will this correct as time goes on?

I made this shawl last year using 'the other' video - how I wish I'd found this one instead - you make it so much more approachable!
