Mary Oliver is just... one of the most comforting poets you can dive into. I find so much solace in 'Devotions', a collection of lots of little bits. I shared my love for her with a friend of mine, and to have someone who understands the delicate nature of a poet like we do together keeps me alive. My favourites are "Doesn't Every Poet Write A Poem About Unrequited Love?", "I Have Just Said", "How Do I Love You?", "Wild, Wild", and "Gethsemane"... to name a few.

7:00 Dogfish is my favorite poem currently, I've read it before once
And I read it again after my life changed
I think its a profound poem to describe "feeling stuck" in the past that, back then the past was predictible and your secure place, compared to the unpredictable now
The dogfish fishes I think, resembles the smallest fish who had to fight bigger ones bc they "actually" can have their life changed if they wanted to fight their circumstances (as described in the poem)

Consumption and dominations of working folks fish bone soup is a favorite of cats. . . That some get over stimulated in the feathers nested of those feeling entwined in s trappings of fresh wine on the vine

Uhm for some reason I didn’t know that Mary Oliver was queer. She’s been my favorite poet ever since I found her a few years ago. I love her. She changed my life. She makes me see life through my favorite lenses, that already live inside me but it’s hard to find them sometimes. But when I read her poems I always find them. I wanted to see what I could find on RUclips, maybe an interview or something, and I found this. And that’s how I found out she was a lesbian. I started searching for more evidence and found dozens of articles talking about it. I started crying. I’m in the most beautiful relationship with a woman. And lately I’ve been feeling this deep sense of connectedness with the things I love. Like I love Joni Mitchell and Maggie Roggers and suddenly I have a video of my favorite artist singing a cover from one of my other favorite artists. And I love Elizabeth Gilbert and I found out very recently as well that she had a wife. And now Mary. It seems all of these people I felt so connected with shared more of their experiences with me than I ever imagined. I already knew we were connected, but now I see it everywhere, in areas of life I hadn’t even considered.

She was indeed a good writer / poet. At least, here, we are talking about real poetry and not those dummies from instagram and alike who can't write to begin with
