Hi Matambale, how did you spot those serial numbers? I didn't. I think they've been in a damp atmosphere at some point. I feel a bit incompetent , I should have spotted this fault before. I was convinced the coils were scrapping on the magnets, which was exactly how they sounded. The clue of course was they didn't do it with the the speaker disconnected. Well done Nick, you now have 4 nice speakers now 😃 Are you going to use them in a Hi Fi project now? I suppose you could coat the wires to prevent future corrosion.
Thanks Mike. Actually only two speakers Mike. I've already built boxes for them out of MDF, with a couple of tweeters I had, as they seemed ok at low volume. But the problem got worse and may do again. Once corrosion gets into that braided wire it's hard to stop. I'm not going to coat the wires that would just seal it in. Just hope the owners don't want them back ! they did say do what you want with them 😀

@@ptronix Did not spot any serial numbers but made an assumption that such fancy speakers would have them stamped or printed somewhere on the frame..
@@matambale couldn't see any Matambale , looked on the boxes they came in. One has a serial number on it and the other didn't, so not very helpful
