I had two machine malfunctions, one was paid and one not. The first one at San Manuel Casino in CA simply printed a blank ticket. They checked everything and said "something was in error" but told me to wait a week and they would contact me if their books did not balance. They never contacted me. The second one was at WinStar in Oklahoma where I hit a $1700 jackpot. The attendant came to pay out but couldn't get the machine to verify it. After three slot attendants worked on it for a long time, the manager and supervisor tried to fix it. They said the inside of the machine was fried and non-functional. Two hours later, they just paid me, just in time for me to get my rental car back to Dallas and fly home to Austin, TX. Whew!! They were extremely super nice the whole time.
I've had three malfunctions in the last year or so. Lucky all three were resolved without incident. You do a great job presenting the tips and solutions and it's very much appreciated. Great job!
David Dogg, how did the casino resolve your machines malfunctions? Did they pay out, or give you a gift certificate or just tell you to leave and not come back?
@@tonyf.8858 First occasion I had put a $100 in and the machine did nothing. Just locked up. In that case they just came, gave my $100 back and they shut down the machine. Second occasion I put my ticket in Quick Hit Riches. Machine immediately just started spinning 90 cent spins. Wouldn't stop. Just eating my money. Took me a minute to find somebody. Finally got someone. They had to look at video to verify how much I had in it and they took care of me. Third the whole bank of Dancing Drums lost power. 4 machines. Cowboy Slots, I have viewed at least 15 or 20 episodes so far on your channel. I have to say that the content you provide is the most useful & informative of all the slot channels that I have seen. So thank you for all of the terrific & informative content & presented intelligently & entertaining as well, & for free ! So, Thanks & best of luck to you and all of your viewers as well.
The way that you present your information is so easy to understand. Very user friendly and extremely helpful. I've never been in this situation but, I feel prepared to handle it. Thanks again for your invaluable help. Best of luck on your next sessions.
Good to know! I had a machine malfunction once and lost my bonus round money and the casino told me they weren’t responsible for machine malfunctions and that was that! I didn’t know I could take it up with anyone else! I was just out!
I recently had a slot malfunction on Pinball at an MGM Property. The reels of the machine kept spinning and spun until a casino floor Rep inserted her card, opened the machine, and said, "ok, here's your spin", and it stopped..... Not a winner. I asked her if she had ever had the reels stop as a winner with a similar malfunction and she said it hasn't happened often in her 14 yrs but she did have one where it did stop as a winner and the amount was large enough to where there was quite the delay in payout due to running back security tape and verifying the initial malfunction. (I hope she got tipped out well as she's really the one who stopped the reel for the win) I also asked about the sign on machines stating "Malfunction Voids All Play" and in a round about way she stated they do their best to accommodate their players when there is a win along with malfunction. I think the key to this is as you mentioned, remain calm and respectful. Thanks for all the good info you provide! Quite insightful.
Sorry, but thats not how it works. The RNG had already been selected before the malfunction. The reels spinning was just a bug, but the bet and payout (or nonpay) had already been decided. The reel spin is just bells and whistles to make it fun.
I hit a 45k on my first $3 max bet hit and had a volume malfunction. Staff came down and asked what was going on....I told him I hit a progressive jackpot but was trying to find the volume so I could enjoy the show the slot puts on when it hits. All went well and was paid cash every dollar on hand.
Great info! Ty! It happened to me over 10 yrs ago but I didn’t know what to do so I just pushed the service button. I was on a machine and getting $2 a spin when the bonus game came up and then the machine went black screen. The guy came over and I told him what happened he just reset the machine. I said what about the bonus game I had? He pointed to the sign that all man functions are voided . I wish I knew what I know now. I would have spoke to management.
As a tech, we are rooting for the players. So where there is a screw up we want to find the truth and hope it is in the player's favour. But we can't just hand over the store either. Be reasonable and give us the answers to our questions. I find too many people with issues with the game don't tell us the whole truth or even understand what they did
I've encounter a few malfunctions over the years. All but one involved an issue an with the voucher which was resolved every time without any issues. Besides remain calm I would also add be patient, especially if it's busy. If the candle is blinking someone will get there. In one case they had to reboot the machine and never thought to ask for manager to be present but still don't believe that is necessary for a voucher issue. I assume this applies to a machine that isn't paying out a line hit? I had another machine reboot during a bonus round. It took about 10 minutes for it to come backup but when it did I noticed I had more credits than just before it rebooted. Rightly or wrongly (maybe Cowboy can give his opinion), I assumed I was paid out on the bonus win the same as if there was no malfunction so I didn't feel the need to involve a casino employee but was surprised no one even showed up. Needless to say I moved on to a different machine. Unlike many people I trust these machines and/or the casinos to do the right thing so it would have to be a major issue for me to get to step 2.
I had a hundred disappear in a machine. I got someone over there who asked me a ton of questions over and over. Very suspicious but there was my hundred caught up in the machine!
I took notes of everything you said re: a malfunction. Thank you Brantley for explaining in such easy terms and step by step. Hope this never happens to me, but I'm sure I'll be able to handle this now with your help. ☺😘☺
Keeping calm is the best advice. Documenting stuff also awesome. Luckily my worst issue was a machine stopped responding as it got stuck in some sort of validation state. Venue I was in just returned the money I had in credit as I had not made spin.
Very good video wish you would have elaborated on the end goal or outcome you refer to what should we expect the outcome to be full pay on the malfunction win or settlement of some sort?? What are some outcomes you are aware of in your experience... I have had some malfunction issues in the casino and more recently the online government operated casino here in canada I think moving forward with more online slot play this info will really come in handy much more odds of something going wrong
My machine malfunctioned at the beginning of bonus. I was betting 8.88 on fu nan fu nu the machine locked up went black. When they came over and restarted it I wasn’t in the bonus. They could see what happened but it was a 50 50 chance it would come back. They gave me 300 in freeplay to compensate. I don’t know what I feel about this aspect of gambling it’s something I hate to think about can you imagine if you had a Handpay and they said it was a malfunction? Ugh
I have a question... I went to Vegas maybe 4 times about 20 years ago. I have a few slot coins from various casinos... Could I play the machines with those coins or is there a trade in for updated coins now? Some from the Hacienda and some from Isle of Capri. I believe there are a few more, but not enough to break the bank. Just souvenirers.
If they are not used anymore, it may be worth researching if they are worth anything as a collectors item. Especially if any are from casinos that no longer exist.
I didn't know there was anything we could do for a malfunction. Just about every time I play at a certain casino here, I get one when it hits something good. I usually just get up and walk away but I have sat there untill it straightens itself out to play again. Duh. They don't let you tape or take pics.
This has never happened to me. I have noticed that some techs that I have encountered has no idea what to do went a KENO machine has an issue especially when playing Multi Card KENO. Is there less training for KENO Slots as compared to other slots?

I got robbed in Primm Valley casino. The machine I was playing got a bonus and as soon as it was over a cleaning person pushed the cash out button and hit me and ran off, security just laughed at me. It was only $250 but hey it was mine. I have never gone back to that horrible place. So yes even the casino can legally rob you!
What kind of “solution” are we talking about? It would be helpful to explain what possible outcomes there might be ,full payment ? Partial payment ? Slot credit ? How do we know when to accept an offer? What if there is no offer?
Most of the time they won’t offer anything without management but if you get management involved they might offer a free dinner or loyalty points or free play. I only have had issues at table games one time they refused to pay $250 win I let it go being a noob another was $1000 win but they did pay that one because the dealer agreed with me but the management initially did not really unpleasant experience but had i lost my cool I would of lost 1k
Short Answer Human Error; I had the dealer make mistakes dealing and most of the time it favors the player but with craps it did not they claimed I wagered on a current roll of dice when I thought it was for the next roll I decided to let it go because I verbally said I bet $25 on any craps seconds before the dice were thrown a 7 but before I put my money on the table of course the next roll was a craps so I thought I won $225 but they refused to pay saying the bet was the prior 7 roll not the craps roll even though I put the money down after that roll. The other was a bacarrat side bet. I bet $50 on win of banker 6 which pays 21 for 1 with banker of 6 win with 3 cards the dealer took my $50 because I bet that and a player win but then explained I won the side bet. That dealer got confused and the manager did too saying that bet was only paid if I bet banker so I said no that was not correct otherwise I shouldn’t have been able to make that bet at all. lucky another dealer agreed so manager pulled out players manual then agreed so dealer paid the $1000 after about 5-10 minutes but had I not been aware I would have lost the $50 and not got the $1000 payout so as I would say be aware of the rules prior to making side bets because the dealers do make mistakes (not usually on purpose but if I didn’t know the rules I wouldn’t have got paid)
I always wondered about that line: malfunction voids all pays……what if the “malfunction “ occurs when the player has been banging on the glass and hitting the buttons so hard it moves the machine? Could that roughness work against the slot player if the machine malfunctions?
Same reason casinos let some people win. If nobody ever won nobody would play. In the case of the commission, they have to keep atleast an illusion of fairness. If it was too obviously rigged nobody would play.
It depends on the malfunction. That clause is to protect the casino from human error but in no way is it used to cheat players out of a jackpot. If a machine has an unrecoverable fault/tilt during your game/bonus you will be entitled to the last know credits. The casino will usually give additional credits/free play to the customer to keep them happy. If it is a human error with the programming of the machine that was not caught by the manufacturers QA or independent test lab, then typically an investigation will occur by casino and/or gaming commission and the patron “should” be paid as the game was intended to play. The casino is absolutely not out to use this clause to cheat people out of their jackpots. On the flip side, there are also malfunctions that pay the player incorrectly or give them some other unintended advantage. The casinos can take a large hit until this is realized. They will usually try to recover the losses from the slot manufacturer but that doesn’t always happen. The bottom line is malfunctions are bad buisness for EVERYONE. The casino is NOT trying to cheat you out of a jackpot. People make ridiculous claims all the time that have no merit so if you have a real malfunction do as this video says and you’ll be treated fairly.
It happens to me.. I won in the money red bags casino jackpot and the attendant reset it. I didn’t know iif it’s malfunctions or not until I watch RUclips. It is a big money though. I still report them even after 6 mos already.
What about signing any kind of paper work? I heard of some lady winning millions on a slot, casino said it was malfunction and only gave her a steak dinner. What to do if casion tries to make u sign something?
Great question. I wouldn't sign anything without first going to the commission. If paperwork becomes involved you may want to have an attorney review the documents first. Don't be pressured into signing anything.
Every slot I've played has a plaque affixed to it stating any malfunction voids all pays or something similar. So in that type of situation how do you have a resolveable situation?

You are hooped at any Indian casino! It's their rules ALL the time. You don't like it? Don't come in! You will never win against their decision...ever! Even if you sit at a machine with a few cents in it left by previous player, they can and will accuse you of theft. Any money left in a machine or any tickets left on a machine or on the floor is theirs! There have been rulings in court abiut these horror stories. Personally, stay away from tribal casinos, they are the biggest crooks out there for casinos. They set their percentage payouts at the lowest legally to bring in the most money. Remember if a machine does pay out a huge jackpot, it really misfunctioned! Lol the idea is to steal our money not give it!
Dude, that might work in Viva Las Vegas, but NOT in ANY Indian Casino. AN Indian Casino, let's not forget that you're now on Tribal Land, & as an Attny, I've seen it with my own eyes, where one of my clients won $19,700.00. On Security video, it did show my client with open palms caressing the Machine; as if it were a woman's As*S, & simply because of that, they decided NOT to honor the payout. We took it to Tribal Court, had our kangaroo Hearing, & while still laughing @ us two, they decided NOT to pay out. "You disagree with our Tribal decisions, oh well, no one told you or forced you to walk into our Casino, Decision upheld, case closed."
Yep agree, you are hooped at any Indian casino! It's their rules ALL the time. You don't like it? Don't come in! You will never win against their decision...ever! *AM I ALLOWED TO FILM MYSELF PLAYING A SLOT MACHINE IN A CASINO? I see all kinds of people on RUclips like you filming their activity playing a slot machine.* *Or do you have to have some sort of relationship with the casino before you are allowed to film what is happening while you are playing a slot machine?* *Because if you do not film the activity that is occurring while you are playing the slot machine, how can you document anything!?* *Please respond... And please go into detail if there are any rules I must follow or any exceptions, etc. Thank you!*
It Depends on the casino's house rules. Many properties will require that you fill out a social media form and adhere to filming guidelines. Always ask the manager before filming. Best of luck!

Question, why is it when they move a slot around something changes with pay out?
I also experience a slote malfunction in Las Vegas very up set

Depending on the situation that would not be in your favor for sure.
Ivette here I live in PHILADELPHIA but the casinos here don’t want you to record or take pictures. What to do then 😊
Great info thank you
Why would a tribal or state gaming commission ever find in favor of the player?
Same reason casinos let some people win. If nobody ever won nobody would play.
In the case of the commission, they have to keep atleast an illusion of fairness. If it was too obviously rigged nobody would play.
How does the ‘All malfunctions void play..’ on machines affect a case?

It would depend on the situation. Whatever you feel is reasonable depending on the severity of the issue.
So do u at least get the money u put in the machine back?
Hard to comment on this because is such great advice. Thanks
You are so welcome!
Excellent video
Good info
I'm going to Vegas soon, I hate to ask this, but what happened to your case when the machine malfunctioned? Thanks, love your videos! #slots #casino #vegas
Good luck in Vegas! I pinned a comment to the top of the thread with my story.
@@CowboySlots Cool thanks!
Hey there Cowboy.🙋
Who goes to the casino worrying about this list? Lmao
great
Was your problem rectified on the spot?
No. I had to file a report with the gaming commission. After the report was sent to the casino I was refunded.
Almost.
Thanks, you never really know, just in case.
This is true!!! It’s happens to me many times.. stay away from tribal casinos
Has this ever worked?
Should I call a lawyer

*AM I ALLOWED TO FILM MYSELF PLAYING A SLOT MACHINE IN A CASINO? I see all kinds of people on RUclips like you filming their activity playing a slot machine.*
*Or do you have to have some sort of relationship with the casino before you are allowed to film what is happening while you are playing a slot machine?*
*Because if you do not film the activity that is occurring while you are playing the slot machine, how can you document anything!?*
*Please respond... And please go into detail if there are any rules I must follow or any exceptions, etc. Thank you!*
It Depends on the casino's house rules. Many properties will require that you fill out a social media form and adhere to filming guidelines. Always ask the manager before filming. Best of luck!
