I salute William for his love and dedication to the history and beauty that his ancestors have created. Also, his demeanor and handsome looks add to the enjoyment of his lovely stately home.
What an awesome opportunity to be able to see an authentic, grande castle still beautiful and strutting her stuff after all these centuries. Thank-you Mary and all for letting us be a part of it. Magnificent!
I love history and cooking so this is a fabulous series to come across. This one in particular since Kenneth MacAlpin is my 38th Great Grandfather, just a mere 1184 years ago.
@newcomer4121 well yes, however a difference is that landed 'old money' do recognise the value of land and environment as they know they're temporary stewards with responsibility to hand it on to the future generations. Also often have a long term and genuine relationship with tenants/workers. Very different to speculators and asset 'flippers'.
Visited Scone in December 2023 with my lovely sister. I lived in NZ for 36yrs and traveled back home many times but this was my first visit to Scone Palace and have wonderful memories.photos
Thank you from Halton Hills, Ontario 😊for a lovely glimpse into the beautiful Scotland 🏴 including the first Douglas Fir. Can’t wait to try the recipes out ❤
What a wonderful and educational documentary. I so much enjoy watching Ms. Mary Berry. I learned something new about David Fir, and of course, those wonderful cooking recipes.
Mary , it seems that each time someone like yourself pulls back the veil into our fellow Scottish lineages it so often reveals such Alba folk like the former Earl of Mansfield or the more recent David Douglass . Both are examples of innovators who have contributed to the well being of so many people in this world . thx , kev
Wonderful program. It's such a treat getting to travel virtually across the pond and learn the history a bit. I live in Northwestern Oregon, where they abound. They cover areas all up and down the Pacific NW region from our coast inward.
As a Scot living in the U.S, I loved this video. I have made Cockie Leekie soup and people are amazed at the wonderful prune ingredient. I do find it interesting that the residents of Scone have not Scottish accents, but very English ones. Only a few of the help that are local speak in the tongue that I love.
I'm a descendant of Sir James Forrest, Baronet, Lord Provost of Edinburgh 1837-43. I'm told that he's my great(x3...?) Grandfather. I imagine his name is in the 'guest book'. I would like to know more about my family history which resulted in my Grandfather, Donald Ross Forrest, born & raised in Edinburgh, whom as a young man emigrated to Canada around 1906 and married Hazel Sloane. My Father, Donald Watson Forrest (1915-1985) 2nd eldest of his 4 brothers were born & raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Myself, Donita Ellen Forrest, born further West, I grew up in British Columbia.
Mary I am from Western North Carolina where there are a lot of Scot ancestry. What the daughter called wild garlic we called 'ramps'. In the spring some communities have ramp festivals! When I was in elementary school some of the boys would eat them before school so the teacher would kick them out of class! They have a very pungent odor!
Do bay leaves trees grow in Scotland? We have them growing wild everywhere here in southeast Texas. The bay leaves bring a wonderful flavour to any dish!
Oh dear William! You misinformed Mary Berry (and all the viewers) about the Stone of Scone. It is NOT at Westminister. England returned the Stone of Scone to Scotland in 1996. It can be seen at Edinburgh Castle where it is housed.
Greetings from northern Michigan. We spent an afternoon at Scone several years ago . Such a wonderful place. Mary Berry is such a great guide to the inner workings of the estate. And the family and staff seem like gracious and industrious caretakers of their Scottish home.

Am, blown away by the beauty and history of Scone Palace. Scotland is really one of the most stunning places on earth. Will visit soon.

I like the polite way you all talk to one another.
So wholesome! Love everything about this!
The admiration and respect that she show to everyone and everything is contagious. What an honor to this program
In these days of insanity, I so enjoy the civilized, graciousness of these grand homes.
The nice comment by the charming lady butler about William was right out of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice!
Thank you so much for showing us this lovely family, their special food and lovely way of entertaining. Blessings from CA , USA.
I was transported. Thank you. Such gracious folk.

This brought back memories of my trip to Scone Palace. ❤
We love you Mary!
What a wonderful documentary. The people so lovely and Mary truly amazing. Where does she get her energy from ?❤
Wonderful. Loved the entire production. Shows that even rich can be honest, loving people concerned about the future natural environment.
😂😂 the rich, care only for the rich. This is scripted.

As always ks.
Bravo, bravo! And God's blessings to all our Scott's across the pond. Jesus loves you!
What a lucky gardener!

WONDERFUL PLUS
Mary is like a fresh breeze on a hot dreary day
Do bay leaves trees grow in Scotland? We have them growing wild everywhere here in southeast Texas. The bay leaves bring a wonderful flavour to any dish!
when was this filmed? 2017 ? what a lovely documentary !
Tea where are the snacks omega my you need something with a cup of tea
37:10 but can you eat ill deer? or does culling imply NOT eating them?
❤
I like to think the William pear tree that Mary planted was chosen to honour Mary's late son William 😢
Goodness that William is a handsome man.
Is the meat served cold inside? 200 fan for 15 min would barely cook the crust.
I think it might have been 50 minutes.
Did he really say : rise Queen Mary of Cake? 😂😂😂

They said it's in Edimburgh now.
That’s not wild salmon, it’s very pale. I wonder if they lied 😂
The very red salmon is dyed, the wild caught is the best way to go.
You have no clue! 😅
Very evil greed jealousy and wanting riches and power
Sad the
Sad they have such English accents
I wonder what the poor poverty-stricken people are eating today.
Canned food.

Government cheese!@@elizabethmcleod246
I hope they ate healthier food the rest of the week.
He married an American 😂
