@@Kekethegreatone Hi unfortunatley I did not get the honor of serving in our US Navy :( big Navy wanted medical info that they already had, but because time elapsed they wanted me to go through and get test done ALL over again... yikes! I had been in this never ending processs because of them. I have done everything they asked and it still wasn't good enough. This whole process was exhausting for me and my family. I really thought i was going to get shipped out this time I was sooooo exited, this still bumbs me out till this day... well maybe in my next life. Thank you for sharing. A lot of what you said regarding fear and life, resonated with me. I joined earlier this year, 18 years post high school at the age of 35. It certainly took a lot of work physically, mentally, and emotionally but I’ll tell you what, nothing has been impossible and I haven’t regretted or second guessed my decision to join, once. To everyone out there thinking about it, no matter your age, be bold and courageous in reclaiming your dreams.

Hey thank you so much for sharing! It really made me feel better to think I'm not alone. Funny how sometimes it takes a tragic loss before we can see. Sorry about your dad. My story is very similar. Grandma died in 2019 and when we were going through the house I found boxes full of secret files about my grandpa's time as a Lt. Col. pilot in the Air Force. He died during a test flight of the B47 Stratojet. This was painful for my mom and grandma so they never talked about him. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to join the Air Force but mom said it was forbidden because of the way her father died. Well I took all the secret files and put them together in a feature length documentary that got published on the National Parks Aleutian Historic Area website. This opened the eyes of my family who said it was like they got to know the man they never knew. Mom was so proud she finally gave her blessing for me to join the Air Force saying that I'm old enough now hahah. I'm more determined than ever to follow my childhood dream and join at the age of 37. Hopefully I'll be able to repay my debt of freedom that he bought for us. Going to meps next week. Maybe see you in the force someday. I'd be honored if you see the documentary on my page. It's called "Fog Bound on an Icicle".
