It appealed to all ages .Even my grandmother liked it .Frank Kelly used to wear a loincloth and play Jesus . It was better than Phoenix magazine.Being a little boy in 70,s Ireland 🇮🇪 was great . RIP to both Franks
Ah God - this brings back memories of simpler happy days in my teens watching on our black and white TV on the single RTE TV station. Thanks for posting it up - not sure how long it will stay up. I already have the DVD.
So much fond Memories ,of watching Halls Pictorial Weekly .With my Dad .Way ahead of its time .When Main Stream Media .Could Piss out of what was going on in Politics' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰
Thank you, thank you, thank you - Halls Pic became obligatory viewing in our household, simply because it was so good. Frank really had his finger on the pulse (of the corpse) - if memory serves, he'd spend Tuesday mornings in the car in the RTE carpark writing/refining the script, so all the actors (the excellent Eamon, Fr. Jack etc.) only had a few hours to memorise/rehearse before recording. Fantastic! And yes, it brings back the memories - pure joy, with some iconic characters.
The Very Best of Hall's Pictorial Weekly ... Vol 2! 1553pm 27.3.23 now, then.... i aint seen this. and that could be due to it being featured on RTE. not living in eire is great.
No drisheen is not the same as black pudding. Drisheen has an altogether lighter consistency - from wiki - the description sounds horrific but it is a delicious food. "Drisheen (Irish: drisín) is a type of blood pudding made in Ireland. It is distinguished from other forms of Irish black pudding by having a gelatinous consistency. It is made from a mixture of cow's, pig's or sheep's blood, milk, salt and fat, which is boiled and sieved and finally cooked using the main intestine of an animal (typically a pig or sheep) as the sausage skin."

Just twigged it now - the Minister for hardship v. the Minister for War??? Shows how far ahead Frank was. Again, thank you.
1977😢😥 My father passed away suddenly @ 56. Leaving a large family for my mother to rear. An amazing lady. ❤ May they both R.I.P.
I was 8 in '77 & I remember watching this back then. I hope the Minister For Hardship is on
We need him now!!

Brilliant!
Great memories.
Brilliant brilliant fun
What a great actor Frank Kelly was...
Most underrated comic from our country. Never liked Fr. Ted because of
Fr. Jack. Frank was so much more than that but I suppose the money was good.
Hahaha
Required WATCHING WHEN I WAS YOUNG....
😛
Happy Ireland back in the day... gone forever

If only Frank Hall had been around during the Haughey era !

When our beautiful little country was poor but it was our own. No foreigners no mosques no communism no abortionists.
It’s heartbreaking…
