So great to see you back on the water!
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! Bryan on on the mast
you're welcome ☺thank you 🥰
Fantastic to see you guys cruising again.
It’s good to be back out there!
Oh man, such a pleasant sound to hear the creaks and groans of Catalpa in sail. In spite of the minor setbacks all seems to be going well. Malakai (?) the cat seems a little skittish, experiencing something his curiosity has not quite answered yet, Lee's full head of hair is looking great, and the happy smiles with the rest of the crew speak more than words can express. And in the whispering wind is heard, "When will I see you again." Amen to that.
Back on the water again. I bet that feels so good.
Feels great 🥰
Congrats guys! So much work to get there. Very happy for all of you!
thanks so much ☺
I'm not going to lie... seriously, I had a tear in my eyes for seeing you S-A-I-L-I-N-G again 😊😊😊😊😊. The sheer joy was evident on all your faces and so uplifting to experience this huge moment in yoyd adventures.
When there is so much crap going on in the world, sharing these experiences through your eyes is quite the privilege, so thank you Captain Lee, Sara, Taj and Bella.
Here's wishing you all a fantastic week 🎉❤

thanks, we're happy to be back out on the water 😊
I’m so glad you’re heading to Conception Bay, it was my home for many years and I haven’t seen it in years. I was a bit premature in my comment as I didn’t get to see much of it but I’m glad you at least got to see a part of it. It’s a magical place and I miss the heck out of it.
Yeah its a special place
I enjoy the boat fixing now back to the sailing 👏🙌
There will still be things being fixed don’t worry 😜
Love watching my favorite Australian family. Hope everything goes good for you guys on the water good time a head cheers

Nice shot Taj !
Giving Catalpa a good shake on the refit maiden cruise is probs a blessing in disguise.
Keep up the great work.
Yeah it was a good way to test things out ☺
Wow , the wind in the head of hair at the end. It worked.

🩵🩵🩵
Excellent Work👍 Glad to see all the Smiles…Continue to Stay Safe and Enjoy 😎
Thanks so much, we are enjoying it 😊
Woot... Woot... You made it.
Spear guns look like golf clubs when they are in a bag and have their covers on. A little tidbit someone might like to know. Makes border crossing easier and without questions.😁 Great music. So happy you’re happy.
🤣😂🤣 we love and appreciate you both so much
LOL" It's freezing cold!" We get it; Sue and I were returning to our home port a few years ago following labor day weekend in the South Puget Sound. It's about an 8 hour transit and all day tge weather kept getting stronger. By the final leg, the wind was gusting to 50+ knots and we found ourself fully foulied up like you guys. Honestly,it just kept building to a point that we were in it and it was getting scary.
Once Aue put Zephyrus in the slip,we realized that it was about 90 degrees Fahrenheit and we were still decked out in our follies.
Glad to see you are where you are meant to be.
Keep the fun in your sights.
Jeff & Sue
Haha it was cold 🥶🤪 thanks guys we are stoked to be back ⛵️
Congrats! Cheers guys.
Luv u guys! Glad your back in your element. New adventures await!
Well at last and about time come to mind, then the but stuff brakes. Well one thing to do sit down have a beer and say next week. Great to see you all on the blue. Remember keep the stick up and those you love in the boat. Just incase you forgot being at sea. HAHAHA
Such a Beautiful episode🧜♀️
Cement is bad for the soul water is cleansing your souls and it shows. 🥰 you are all warriors ❤
It was definitely good to be back in the water after so long 🥰
OMG, you've made it. I've been watching since you bought Catalpa II and enjoyed watching Lee's refit (and the rest of the family). I was a little worried as I watched you pull out of the slip. I thought Maliki was going to jump (LOL). He seems to be adapting well. You have a few kinks to work out, but it would have been unbelievable if you didn't have any. It's really good to see you back on the water and heading for new adventures. Now, the fun begins. Congratulations to your entire family.
It’s been a long journey, thanks for being here 😊
😊Happy for you.😊
Catalpa is looking good guys. All the best for your future adventures.
Thanks 🥰
So so Happy for you, sea dogs ,....Dave in Australia 😊
Thanks Dave
YES!! Watching you guys got me fired up! I told my wife we need to get back to our boat in Mazatlan here soon, I need to get the new auto pilot installed and go sailing and diving and surfing.....hope to share a wave with you guys one day...
Sounds good see you out there 🌊⛵️
Thanks for the reply my mistake I didn't see the fur child's life jacket until later in the last episode lucky cat sharing your adventures. Another 30degree summer's day here on the GC
Five days shy of 18 months in a boatyard. It must feel great to be back sailing. Like being freed from a prison sentence kind of feeling, for those who don't know how it feels to be on the ocean sailing.
We definitely feel free 😆
great to see you on the wet stuff after so long, and pretty rolly as well, were you all ok or was there some sea sickness, how is the boat holding up
We were all great no seasickness not even from the cat 🐱☺️
Yay how exciting 🎉
Hi
Isn't it fantastic having a couple of extra adults aboard? Hope you all get your sea legs back soon. No offense to the rest of the crew, but the footage of Mority at 16:55 is the bet part of the video!
It’s so great ☺️
Also, I put gave you guys a shoutout at the end one of my next videos. Should be up Saturday after next.
Naw thank you ☺️
Fur Child needs a a life Jacket maybe. Great to see you all out there again.
He has one 🤗
In Conception bay....Sanispec beach has a hot spring that is wonderful. It's best at high tide to cool the water a bit. A rare great anchorage in the sea of Cortez.
Your RO water.... What PPM is your fresh water, please...???
I think he said 34
I believe I heard Lee say that the RO fresh water output was 35ppm TDS, which is pretty normal and well within the safe range.
I think he’s right when he says that the membranes have suffered a bit from being pickled for so long, I’ve had similar symptoms after an 18 month layup. Mine improved a little over about a month of daily use but never fully recovered to their original performance.
Both the feed and high pressure pump output pressures are ok, so that only really leaves the membrane condition as a potential issue that could reduce the fresh water output.
Cheers! R.
Ok.... Thanks guys, I've been keeping track of other boaters and the lowest I've heard is 120 ppm. Which is a bit too salty for me. I rerun the fresh water through the membrane again and dump the discharge back into the original fresh water. This brings the second passed water down to 6 ppm. I loose about 25% of the first pass fresh water.
@@sails3538 Double cycling makes sense in your situation, good dodge!
I’m not a big fan of anything too much above about 55 ppm personally.
Depending on intake water temperature, salinity and the pressure I run the HP pump at, my output varies between 28 and 60ppm.
If you cut the pressure down a little the ppm should drop, though obviously the output flow will as well.
It might be worth trying, the results will not be a linear though. You may find that 10% reduction of flow gives a 15% reduction of TDS, for instance.
If your membrane/s are in ok-ish condition and there are definitely no internal leaks via damaged membrane end seals, you may well find that just dropping 1000psi has a fairly big effect on quality without a huge drop in output quantity, as well as reducing power consumption plus wear and tear on the HP pump by a bigger margin than you might expect. I found it worth playing around with anyway.
It’s also worth knowing that I’ve had quite different results with membranes from a couple of different manufacturers, one set being pretty poor for both output quality and flow rate from new, the other set being about 10% better max flow and 20% better ppm at the same flow rate as the poorer set.
I guess that, apart from the inevitable “marine use add 50% to the retail price,” you pretty much get what you pay for… In my case the off-brand cheaper “direct replacement” set were the ones that didn’t perform so well… Mind you, they were nearly half the cost of the OEM ones.
Cheers, R. 😎👍🍻
awsome :) shes a ripper
So nice to see you sailing again! 🌊⛵ Would you consider adding a map with your planned route? It would be great to see where you’re headed!
So haopy for you guys finally back in the water ❤️✌️💪👌🌹❤️
🥰🙏
After being on the hard for so long and then back on the rocking and rolling waves.... you guys decide you're ready to move on to a Catamaran ???? LOL
Haha we always have wanted a catamaran nothing’s changed 😜
⛵
Did you all get your new mast head light and vaccuum sealer that I sent?
I believe that I seen a sealer come out of a parcel months ago
Yes thank you sooooo much it’s on and we can’t wait to use the vacuum sealer when we get fish 🎣 🙏
So that's how those poles break. Kirsten of the Golden Globe race broke hers but it was as she was sailing north to France at the end of the round the world Golden Globe race.
wow ! that is a very creaky vessel, I bet old Catalpa didn't creak like that ?
She was just getting use to being wet again 😜
Yea🎉❤
Hi guys, awesome to see you in the water again !
Quick question: can you tell me how much % of sails you average on sails, and how much on engine?
Doing some project calculations here. Thx !
That’s a hard one I think it depends on where we are in the world and time of year we definitely motored a lot more then sailed in south east Asia but Mexico we sail a fair bit also this boat sails better then our last one so that’s a factor 🤗
Good to see you back!! Have to ask, what is that swinging door behind you??!!
Our closet 🙃
The lovebirds back on the water
🥰
Safe traveling
How diff does it feel from tour previous boat. Making good speed. As a viewer I am excited you are sailing again so can’t imagine how you feel
Yeah, she's sailing beautifully we are pumped to be back out here 🩵
W0W! Did anybody get sea sick with all that Rockin & Rollin?
Nah we didn’t not even morotai 😻
Who’s happiest to be back on the water? I’m betting it’s a tie, between Lee and Bella. For sure it’s not the kitty cat!
We are all pretty happy including morotai 🤗😻
The change in Taj since dry docked, boy to man.
Old boys understandably a bit greyer also.
All that time wearing asian work boots in the yard, got Uggies on the boat.
Haha can’t wreck the uggies ☺️
WOW that's 4 and half days short of 1 and half yrs or 18 mths on land !!!!! Big change guys to be in the water 24/7. ... Crikey mate you've made it🦘🐨 !!!!you bloody bewdys 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Daggerboard would have helped with the rollong
I'm kinda new to the channel. So excuse me if I ask a dumb question here. I have seen you guys sailing around with other families, but thought it was mom, dad, sis, and bro. But this episode I see mom, dad, sis, and another young girl. A bit taller than sis, and long blonde hair. Is your son off on a different adventure? Or staying on a different boat until you meet up? If I missed the part where you explained it, sorry. Thanks in advance. 🍻
That’s our son Taj 😆 he’s definitely not a girl
@SailingCatalpa Crap! Sorry. No disrespect intended. He has some great hair.
🤣 don’t worry he actually had long hair when we first started YT 8 years ago he was about 10 and lots of people thought we had 2 girls 🙃
It's about time you stopped on land for some exercise!! lol No backflip from Bella? i figure she'd be flipping everywhere to get back on the water!!
Haha I know right don’t worry she will be back at it soon ☺️
Bella is a babe ❤❤
Yikes, sailing an older boat means an endless series of problems to be solved. Your captain is an ace problem solver; but anyone less skilled and less level-headed than him would be _under-qualified_ to be responsible for the safety of a family at sea.
This is actually pretty true 😅☺️
Lord does the cat want to jump
No he just likes to live on the edge
Must be hard to sleep with all the rocking and creaking all night?
You get used to it pretty quickly
Taj throwing the "F" word out there, camera or no camera.
He’s has the mouth of a sailor that’s for sure 😆
Thank God. Watching sailing is MUCH better than boatyard.
I agree 🤗
Did Rodney Taj Rude just say FU*K? I'm religious, UNSUBSCRIBE.
Just joking Gold Coasters, glad to see you finally back on the water.
Yeah he’s definitely been raised a sailor I miss one every now and then 😆
You should've propped that door closed while you were doing a narrative. Very annoying.
Yeah sorry about that real life sailing 🙃
