Watch My 600 lb Life and see Dr Fuhrman's message played out in real life. All these poor souls are addicted to fast food and junk food and it is every bit as bad as drug addiction. Thank you for your very rational and passionate lecture of foods and true energy. Its is very inspiring. It is also strange to understand that the official health system does not talk about these things and that staying in hospitals dont serve true healthy foods
I think this information is so powerful. It explains so much I have wondered about. Yet, I am confused when I hear so many stories about people who have cured themselves of cancer by eating raw foods and drinking the fresh juices from them at many times during the day...downing as much as they can from this nutrition to flood their bodies with the nutrients...and apparently achieving remission of their cancer..when I am hearing Dr. Fuhrman say that it is important to remain for some time in the catabolic phase of metabolism, thereby abstaining from consuming anything, for somewhat long stretches of time, in order to be truly healthy. These ideas are opposed to each other. How can both be true? Is it harmful to eat that apple in the late afternoon, between lunch and dinner, for its valuable nutrition, but thereby halting catabolism and unhealthfully speeding up overall metabolism? I realize this has nothing to do with the fast food topic, but the statement regarding manipulating metabolism to control the rate of aging is a foundational principle applicable to all types of eating. So I don't follow one the lines of reasoning, but I don't know which one it is that I shouldn't follow.
What blows my mind is what ppl think is healthy. Seeing all the processed"healthy" alternative choices at trader Joes it is just sad that ppl think it is actually healthy
And a lot of Trader Joe's food is made in China. I lived in China. Soil, air, and water pollution there is so bad it could qualify for a horror film. Make your own from scratch every time. If you want convenience foods cook a double batch and freeze it for later use.
We pay over $3 TRILLION in 'health' care TAXES, EVERY YEAR. There is no way we can do a health care for all system ... well, there is no way politicians will go for it... so, if you want health care, you have to CARE about HEALTH. EASIEST by far way to achieve that is hold to a whole food , plant based diet with plenty of B12 & FLAX. No rocket science here folks. What will that do? Reduce patient counts. Lesson the strain on the system. Fewer pharmaceuticals. Lower demand = lower costs. Business 101. This is the elephant in the room. We can't afford infrastructure. We can't afford schools. We can't afford public health care. We have to change, individually or we can continue to prop up the health care industry, year after year. Cheers.
I love this lecture but LQQK at some of the overweight people in the front row nodding off. they should be rushing the stage to save their lives, its hopeless for some.
I know a lot of people dont like Dr Fuhrman, they find him arrogant, and egotistical. Others have called him "like a used car salesman" because he pushes his supplements. HOWEVER, what ever you think of Dr Fuhrman, Love him or Hate him you cannot argue with his message. Thank you Dr Fuhrman.
Yeah, I kinda don't like that aspect - but watching this video - all I saw was him giving away information for free. I don't think he even mentioned that he had a line of supplements. Unless it was literally in the last 5 minutes of an hour and forty minute presentation?
What are you talking about Popeye - consensus in the medical society shoudln't mean much with such an unhealthy population. But Fuhrman's books all conain 100's of references to medical journal articles. So, he is espousing the science. The science is not always applied to the recommendations of , say, the USDA; and, of course, there are vast economic interests at stake that want people to be confused - just like tobacco companies paid people to refute evidence that smoking caused cancer - and if you wanted to keep smoking you could choose to listen to them. What quackery? That caloric restriction extends lifespan? That's easy to check - there are vast numbers of studies. That vegetables and fruit and beans are good for you? That processed food is not? That animal foods are not? Get a clue.
I don't think he pushes his supplements: I am a Doc, and only use Joel's supplements, cause I know for a fact that uses only his supplements...and they happen to be the best I've researched over the past 30 years-I want only the best, and his are the best, by a long shot.....
I love him!! So knowledgeable! But I do have a question.. I eat a lot, but it's a ton of fruit and veggies. I feel like they are digested so quickly that I am more hungry. So based on what he says, I'm shortening my life by frequently eating fruits & veggies?
immacarbivore I don't buy his whole "eat less to live longer" schtick. It's too complicated to focus on calorie restriction, you're more likely to make poor food choices and you're probably going to be a stressed out headcase from going hungry all the time. I think it's more important to focus on what you're eating rather than how much. You can always adjust the amounts your eating later on.
Thank you! I tend to agree. Although I did lose over 100 pounds restricting calories - this was before my plant-based lifestyle - I felt like I was constantly obsessing over food... when I could eat, how much, etc. So I would rather not have to pay attention to those details anymore and just continue to eat clean. Appreciate the response :)
immacarbivore Sure, even water fasting can be extremely beneficial, but we can't starve forever. Fuhrman seems to be fear mongering. If you follow his logic slightly overeating sweet potatoes instantly shortens your lifespan. I call BS.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of that type of information. I think it will make it too complicated for people to want to follow because not only are they changing their diet completely to eat super clean, but they also have to restrict. He's the only plant-based doctor I follow that preaches calorie restriction. While I do see benefits - because I've been eating in abundance and not losing any more weight, so I probably should tone it down a bit - I don't think that you have to be as nit picky with restricting whole plant-foods to be healthy and live a long time.
immacarbivore I agree. I find when I eat more one day, or even for a few days, I am less hungry for the next day or two. I also find that the opposite is true, if I eat less I find I am ravenously hungry and can't stop eating. Even if I eat supposedly "nutrient dense" foods as Fuhrman would say. I wouldn't worry about short term results. If you eat healthy for years you will eventually look like you have eaten healthy for years. It doesn't need to be complicated.
Good talk but he raised a very important question while joking about it: how worthy is it to lecture about it when the second you present the people with a unhealthy option they go for it? The core of the problem is not knowledge, its choices. Give the people only healthy choices and they will take them. So its more about a political problem than a educational one. We all know drinking alcohol or smoking is bad but still do it cause it gives short term pleasure. Its about making it easier/cheaper/more appealing to pick the healthy lifestyle choices!
So your point is we are all going to get cancer anyway, so why change your diet? SMH. It’s been proven that eating a healthy diet can minimize the effects of those other toxins. Your body is less toxic (no toxic food) and better able to fight against the other poisons you mentioned. Plus you flood your body with photochemicals and antioxidants which also help fight against cancer.
You mentioned that there are some people who may need to eat some animal protein at a less than 5% of calories. I think I may be one of them. How would one do that? Less than 75calories of animal protein daily? More eaten once a week? I am 78 years old and have been a nutritarian since 2011 and have a BMI of 23.3 I feel healthy and fit. However, I am having an issue with thin skin that bleeds easily and has a crepey apprearance on my limbs.
Honestly, if you're at a healthy weight and feel good eating the diet I'd try adding 2-3 teaspoons of cold pressed flax or walnut oil a day first because thin crepey skin sounds more like an essential fatty acid deficiency than a need for animal protein.
Quackwatch and rationalwiki? Are you for real? Why don’t you refer to some actual studies, like Dr. Fuhrman does? Have you read any of his books and checked out the studies for validity? You may be surprised on how much documentation is actually out there.
Lis Engel I use a lab-grown algae product, DHA, from WalMart. Lab product is clean, free of pollutants. Fish get DHA/EPA from eating things that eat algae, so why not leave the fish alone and go right to the algae product?
Veg1 made by "the vegan society" is alright, but they have added some stupid crap which I have asked for them to remove or make another version of this supplement without those stupid b vitamins. No vegan has an issue with getting folic acid or b6 or b2, there's literally an over abundance of them already... Disappointing.
Of the cooking of carbohydrates creates Acrylamide - so even making whole grains, no flour flat breads; Dosa, tortilla and such from whole grain buckwheat/oat/quinoa, lentils etc are harmful? I soak whole grains/legumes and make my own flat bread/crêpes etc. He has some of these things on his website recipes - I'm confused 😳
Can anyone share the source of how a diet with abundant ALA can still lead to DHA deficiencies? I thought that a body that poorly converts ALA is due to the consumption of too much Omega-6 and not genetics.
Why is there no national franchise for Plant Based Whole Food to compete with FAsT food franchises? Seems that just the PBWF doctors van chip in to start the ball rolling. The only place I can eat out is Chipoltes. If the only thing served would be a salad bar, I would eat there daily.
@Nature Lover Media Being a little fat isn't unhealthy. Now being morbidly overweight yes. But yea I love how he never mentions chemicals or anything. I would rather be 30 lbs overweight on an organic diet than at a normal weight on a processed food diet.
This conference sponsored by Bariani Olive Oil.......OIL!!! Are we not getting it yet?????....Explain to me , slowly, why oil is good for you, and better than nuts and seeds..........
onefoot7 I noticed the olive oil thing too and wondered. How about the vegan junk food pizza served at the conference? Dr. Fuhrman was NOT happy about that!
I saw a health and nutrition “expert” in a doco the other night produced by the public broadcaster here in Australia who suggested full-fat yoghurt was healthy and I laughed my head off. No wonder people are so confused. They pale in comparison to Dr Joel.
Serious question: what type of little animals and how much would I need to eat to safely ensure adequate DHA (and B12) levels without an excess of animal protein. And how should I prepare / consume them? What bugs / lizards. Additionally, how do I catch them. Is this being studied / practiced? We are actually raising free range chickens but we're selling the eggs. Are these of any significant net gain? How about algae for that matter - the DHA is manufactured from algae - could I just grow / eat that?
Hypertension is caused by a magnesium deficiency. Table salt is bad, but it's irresponsible to demonize all salt. Unrefined sea salt, and Himalayan salt will alway be a part of my diet.
Valerie Mc Phail if I test 10 brands of bottled water for fluoride, And 7 out of 10 test positive, it would be irresponsible for me to say don't drink water.... making suggestions with lack of key information is dangerous. Get it?
I was in the hospital with heart failure a month ago. My water weight was way too high and was given diuretics in the hospital to get rid of 14 pounds of water in my body. I was told to avoid all salts, including unrefined sea salt and Himalayan salts. Is there something about these salts which doesn’t cause your body to hold on to water? The excess fluids put a strain on my heart. I’d like to hear your views.
correct is bad-mannered and rude. Well-handled, Val! Anyway - importing rock salt from The Himalayas can't be logical - it's too far away. 'correct' should 'live locally'
There is ALWAYS a consequence for our actions. When we eat sugar, oil, salt, animal products, processed foods, there will be a price to pay. Isn't it ironic that the clogged arteries are caused by dairy and animal fats? The animals will have the last say.
I hate how he was focusing on calories. I wish he more focused on how you can eat to satiation on nutrient dense whole plant foods diet. Otherwise people will think that they have to constantly starve to be healthy
Kellyana Douglass eat until your 80 percent full, it’ll get better when the cravings go away, if your not to far off already. What I do when I crave sweets, I eat dried fruits, and when I crave meat or fatty foods, I grab a handful of pecans and almonds or cashews. We are lucky to have such a wide variety of foods to eat! When it comes to a meal, I eat whole grains cooked in a rice cooker, canned beans with herbs and eat until I’m almost full. It would be nice if he didn’t talk about only calories, but the good thing about a plant based diet that has no refinement is that you don’t gain weight no matter how much you eat. You only get healthier
Kellyana Douglass I'd rather be informed by someone about everything instead of just some things. if they are true, and what he said is definitely true, then it doesn't really matter how people interpret it or feel about it it just matters what is true. people can make that as hard or easy as they choose to
Kellyana - I had the same thought. I think it's critical for the information. But without showing the meals you eat and how much you can enjoy yourself. Or that you can eat as much as you want of certain foods (maybe vegetables, fruit and beans?) that you might feel deprived just thinking about it. On a personal note, I've been whole plant foods for over 12 years, but maintain a bit of extra weight 195 instead of 175 lbs. Which is actually a lot more than a bit. So I'm trying to save my nuts and seeds for the salad - not use dates and pecans as a main meal. And make sure I eat a large salad for lunch, And maybe not eat to - well what's past satiation. Because I can be totally satisfied if I try quitting eating for a bit or be a tad hungry. Or I can pump more in. I"m only being more strict the last week - although I've done it before and I've fluctuated between 175 after my first two months (maintained for a couple years) from 200 or 205 pre my version of Fuhrman. And gradually come back up to 195 over a decade. Anyway, lot better than extrapolating that 200 lbs upwards at the rate I was gaining on the SAD diet, but I need to do something more. So it's very interesting personally, and I kind of liked it. Since caloric restriction is a fundamental underpinning of his H = N / C and the key to human health. But talking about how you achieve satiation on a nutrient dense whole plant foods diet (I would've used the exact same words). In fact, how you achieve it automatically is pretty reassuring.
Another thing, smoking is not as deadly as fast food, smoking is 20x more deadly then fast food, 8 million people die because of smoking a year (21,918 people a day) and 400,000 people die of fast food a year (1,095 a day) disproving with simple math that fast food is not as deadly as smoking, but I mean if you disagree, please buy a carton of cigarettes and smoke till you die, then you will find out who’s right 🙂

I really enjoyed your talk, feel free to connect! I have worked Reversing Disease, including many for all these years growing and gathering more and more!
Thank you very much and you are a true Hero.
POWERFULLY COURAGEOUS, EXCELLENT COMING OUT AGAINST GROUND UP PLANTS. VERY POWERFUL JUST LIKE JOEL'S PHYSIQUE
Fast / processed food is "today's" cigarettes.
Damn, he tells it like it is. I think we are so far off that this is what it's going to take to wake up everyone!
One of the few diets / nutritional concepts which make real sense.
Love Dr. Fuhrman but boy, that's one lackluster audience he's speaking to there.
They’re still digesting the pizza. Zombied out.
I know. I'd like to shout out amen if I was there. I would definitely appreciate him. Glad these videos are made.
Maybe that's why he keeps saying, "Do you get that?" He's looking at blank faces.
@@barbarawinsor8401 😂 I had the same thought lol
They are in a high carb food coma- or hopefully at little in shock ..
Love this info. I came across a video of a couple of doctors promoting high cholesterol! How could they get it so wrong??
Oh no, I see people sleeping!
Inconceivable!
I'll take your place in a minute and take notes for you!!
Lolololol, ditto!!
Brilliant! I had about 55 A-HA moments while watching this RUclips video.
The children in my kid’s classes HATED when it was my week to bring snacks for the class 😂😂😂

I moved from Santa Cruz, CA of 42 years and my nearly 7-year-old and I moved to NE Minnesota and my son was enrolled despite my reluctance as a solo parent at Washington Elementary School, Cloquet, Mn and what a nightmare! I asked for filtered water, they eye-rolled, I asked for parents to contribute and have a cafeteria and put together fruit, vegetables, and they mocked me, I carried a clear mason jar with herbal tea and they slapped me on the back and asked if it was moonshine but in a very condescending way. They are largely anxious, some rabidly so, there are critical thyroid issues here (no iodine in the soil!) poor diet, low water intake, paper mills. More suiciding, from food, more addiction, and even my entire family is distanced due to my many decades of showing how energetic, fast-thinking, able to digest and read, and feel young at age 58, it's like I am hated and while I RADIATE they hate! I offer 35 stellar years of immense study, reversing disease, awesome testimonials and I'm still "manually moving inflammation" with folks who are in a body much like a cow or calf on a factory farm, inflated, swollen, ashy skin, ropey rashes around their neck, rough feet, thin haylike hair, an so sickly, medicated and they are completely out of gear! 17 years of offering a way out and they are NOT willing to even change their diet? Planning to move out here next year had to stay for several reasons and had to work! Doesn't matter if I tell them yes WE can reverse most often cysts, nodules, perhaps even tumors, kidney issues, and I developed a Four-Part System: Gather, Stabilize, Detoxify and Regenerate! I need a community that would like to have someone who is passionate and excited to work providing these kinds of services or I will go mobile for a year or two with the dogs I live with! I have taught free skool, 14 courses through community education and at whole foods! www.naturallywithkaren.com also offer HTMA (hair mineral testing!) then interpret and recommend! I hope it is not like this everywhere?
Quickly run back to your beloved California. There's no place like home.
In my state we despise arrogant California refugees that talk rudely, drive rudely, shop without manners, and complain endlessly about how great Cali was. Those people from Cali were cash home buyers which priced all locals out of the housing market as our local salaries can't match. Perhaps as an outsider, you needed to first build relationships with locals before telling them everything about their way of eating was wrong? Your heart was in the right place and I fully agree with what you were saying. As a military brat I can testify you must be very careful entering a local community that may or may not want you to be there.
I'm glad someone brought the pizza because it helps my theory of majority of people have mental problems. And being overweight is a mental problem. If you want to lose weight or even keep it off it starts with the mind...
Being overweight is not a mental problem,it is an addiction to fat/sugar/processed food! After 1 week on WFPB vegan no added oil/fat, no added sugar/sweeteners all my food cravings disappeared. My excess weight decreased too.
You rock doc!!!!
The most useless thing's on RUclips have the most views. Things like this have far less views than many popular subjects. For example there's a Kim Kardashian video that has 40 MILLION 🤯 views. That just shows you where people's priorities are.
Well said.
People who die longer don’t count as living longer. Thank you for speaking so frankly and for being so funny.
Watch My 600 lb Life and see Dr Fuhrman's message played out in real life. All these poor souls are addicted to fast food and junk food and it is every bit as bad as drug addiction. No one suffers from broccoli addiction, and when you eat a whole food plant-based diet and you know when to stop eating.
He sure is telling the truth about churches feeding people donuts. I know because I did that. I brought donuts and coffee to give to visitors. Smh. 😒
Im confused about folic acid now just checked my nutritional yeast and it has folic acid added. Guess it be going in the bin. Great talk love listening to this man
Thank you for your very rational and passionate lecture of foods and true energy.
Watch all his RUclips talks ..get his books ..he is all about the science..adapt his principles
Thank you
thankU!!!
Wow, the shade he’s throwing at that audience! 😂 But everyone needs to hear this.
Cheers.
Truth!
I love this lecture but LQQK at some of the overweight people in the front row nodding off. they should be rushing the stage to save their lives, its hopeless for some.
5 star information! Digest the lecture and pay attention to the truth!
Some of the audience definitely eat a lot of pizza.
John Kirton Yeah, he doesn’t hesitate to call them out, but it takes a while to lose weight and they’re in the right place at least.
🤣
I know a lot of people dont like Dr Fuhrman, they find him arrogant, and egotistical.
Others have called him "like a used car salesman" because he pushes his supplements.
HOWEVER, what ever you think of Dr Fuhrman, Love him or Hate him you cannot argue with his message.
Thank you Dr Fuhrman.
Oh Popeye, shut up and go eat your spinach.
How can I found out if it is going to be a seminar in my city?
1:08:56 TRUTH
Fire 🔥
Good talk but he raised a very important question while joking about it: how worthy is it to lecture about it when the second you present the people with a unhealthy option they go for it?
The core of the problem is not knowledge, its choices. Give the people only healthy choices and they will take them. So its more about a political problem than a educational one. We all know drinking alcohol or smoking is bad but still do it cause it gives short term pleasure.
Its about making it easier/cheaper/more appealing to pick the healthy lifestyle choices!
Don't forget the other causes of cancer The toxins in the air, the water and in the soil The wireless devices we use, etc.
NaturalNews.com has a film about the toxic sludge that is being spread on our croplands. Very scary.
Tish Davidson I would also like an answer to this. I was wondering if eating fish two times a week would be OK?
Nobody NEEDS to eat animal products.
Yes😊
Who is making the best DHA?
Dr Sten Ekberg an Olympic Decathlon veteran is helpful
who were the greedy low people who disliked this video? chemo and diabetic centres?
What kind of vegan algae do you recommend - and what B 12?
Lis Engel
I use a lab-grown algae product, DHA, from WalMart.
Where is he talking about folic acid being a cause of breast cancer? Can't find it! Please help!
Dr. Joel I have a question: you talk alot about beans... How do you feel about bean sprouts? Thank you.
Can anyone share the source of how a diet with abundant ALA can still lead to DHA deficiencies? I thought that a body that poorly converts ALA is due to the consumption of too much Omega-6 and not genetics.
Does potassium choride salt also damage the endothelium in the same way that sodium chloride does?
Ayurvedic medicine is interesting to me to learn
Why is there no national franchise for Plant Based Whole Food to compete with FAsT food franchises? Seems that just the PBWF doctors van chip in to start the ball rolling. The only place I can eat out is Chipoltes. If the only thing served would be a salad bar, I would eat there daily.
Are garbanzo beans included?

Stop the 'Music', Please!
Man he killed it when he said pizza before my lecture,,,its not worth lecturing
I like this video but it's too long he's got a lot of good information
This man is WOKE . Amen 🙏 Spread the TRUTH
I want to know Who was serving that toxic food 🍰🍦🍩🍕🍔🧀🥓at the front of the room?
Valerie Mc Phail you've missed the point
Ahm, so it (salt) doesn't cause micro hemorrhages and lead to high blood pressure / increase cancer risk?
correct is bad-mannered and rude.
Missing the Point ....He Talks NUTRIENTS ...........avoid the Empty Calories
@@Gabe62046 try slow cooking dry beans instead of canned 🥫. It is cheaper and healthier.
