@@willarth9186 I would say sets, editing and effects. As bad as the story is, the technical stuff looks pretty good. The guy from Squid Game probably isnt cheap, X-23 probably isnt cheap, Carrie Ann Moss wasnt cheap. If this was filmed around covid restrictions I can see fees ballooning out of control.
@@willarth9186 9/10 they are laundering money imo. 17years in corp law and to put it simply, a multi billion dollar corp only freely loses half a billion per project because the money thats legal is nowhere near these projects. Because when you work 75% off investors i dont see any financial/accounting firm touch any of there request due to the 40-60% losses for about a decade now and the way they are unapologetic to the fans it means they know there income doesnt come from the projects.

Jar Jar is probably a genuis compared to certain characters in the Acolyte. Maybe they put mundi as an attempt to keep people watching the show, yet Mundi isn't popular enough to make a rat infested pile of garbage look good.

They just like other woman, they don't hate on men, and they don't make a big deal about it. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is basically a lesbian love story, but it is done so tastefully that you root for the main characters to hook up. Hollywood would never be able to do that. A modern lesbian has to hate men, and everything about them, to feel empowered. Sad.

It is probably much, much more than that. they were at almost 50 million before filming begin. Since then, they re-shot 30% of it after the first one tested extremely low. After that one (second) tested badly, they re-shot again for about another 30%. After that one (third) tested badly, they supposedly brought in Filioni and they re-wrote and re-shot the whole thing. That one (fourth) tested badly too. So, it has been done for over a year and Disney sat on it trying to get the right time to release it and they couldn't do an Echo (releasing all episodes at once, like dumping a bag of flaming dog poop on someone's porch), so they had their usual schills in the media build it up and defend it.

You nailed it with the funding comment. The way risk-free ESG funds work, they can effectively make more money on a very very expensive bomb than they can a very cheap success.

Remember $180,000,000 for the Acolyte? Did you all know that Star wars episode 3 Revenge of the Sith had a budget of $113,000,000. Acolyte has a bigger budget and it's this bad. Wow.
Where is the money going? Nothing about these sets, costumes, makeup or effects that I've seen would seem to warrant this budget. Are they being fleeced by the production companies? I feel like we're watching some variant of Major League where Disney is tanking the franchise on purpose, but to what end I can't say.
I mean at this point they could be embezzling it all.

It's the same amount because you must count inflation from 2005. That's a 20 year difference. So it's the same amount and it shows. They had to stretch what was focused on a 2 plus hour film into 8 episodes.

@@Ramser2218 I think there was an interview, but I haven't found it; writers and game developers certainly were told about it though, as that's the reason Hanharr couldn't be turned in KotOR II. I won't speculate on why, since Lucas himself was notoriously inconsistent with developing lore (for example, Leia was not originally Luke's sister and Vader was not their father, but both were last-minute changes).

All of them besides Andor and Rogue One can be difficult to watch for multiple reasons, but give them a try and see if you like them enough to ignore their flaws.

I'm not surprised by the retcons anymore. They retconned ventresses' supposed death. Also they wrote kenobi in a way to make what obiwan told luke about vader killing anakin true and canon. They are probably going to do the same thing with Acolyte and Ki Adi Mundi. The easiest way would be to freeze him in Carbonite like Han Solo instead of changing his actual age and birth so that his age is the same and possible for him to be there. Also the siths helmet must have been made of beskar to block a light saber
They also ruined Ahsoka's death in Rebels which destroyed her character.
Friendly reminder that The Acolyte season 1 cost a reportedly $180,000,000 to produce. I'd venture with re-shoots and delays from the writer's strike last year, it's got to be north of $200 million at this point.

I find all of it so ironic because my husband, 47 wm, who grew up with this franchise, is one of the only people still hanging on trying to like the show. I don't even understand why he chose to watch episode 4, but he did. I just find it so funny that he's the demographic they are blaming, but he's the only demographics still trying to watch this garbage
I appreciate the brutal honesty. You and other high profile critics sit through the shit so we don't have to. But I wish, every video, that all of you would remind your audience, again and again, that the only way fans can truly send Disney a message, is to cancel Disney+. Not hate-binge the show and justify paying for it so your kids can stream Frozen for the six hundteth time. None of you should be paying for D+ at this point. I would be going out of my way to pirate everything I want to watch on Disney (which admittedly is very little besides the legacy movie catalogue... Hello Plex) and not giving them a cent until they earn it back. Telling your audience to consider cancelling their Disney+ subscriptions, every video, is the ultimate protest.

Two comments on your report:
1. in the German dub, she asks "Is it a he, a she, or a them?" To be honest, this question is completely understandable to me in the context that it is a species that Oosha is apparently not familiar with.
2. that Ki-Adi-Mundi apparently knows about the Sith in the prequels...you're jumping to conclusions. In episode 4, he doesn't know anything about a connection with the Sith. The idea that they could be Sith is probably absurd since they haven't been seen in centuries. That's why the other Jedi suspect that it could be a splinter group of Jedi behind Mae's training.
I really have the feeling that many Star Wars fans just want to hate this series. Too bad. :(

A big difference is in Ashoka you wanted them to speak. In Acolyte, it would be better if they just stayed muted for the whole thing.
If you notice, they always have Amandla Stenberg's forehead covered, which means they're probably going to pull out the switcheroo and pretend like Mae was Osha all along. Will it make sense? Does it matter? Why are any of us watching this?

I believe on the offical Star Wars data base they recently took down the “official year” when Ki-Adi-Mundi was born to fix the timeline even though before the series it was there.
Ki Adi Mundi was born 93 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) and the show takes place in 132 BBY. So, they added 40+ years (because he is a full adult and a Jedi Master in the show) to the character. Supposedly, George gave them only a lifespan of 50 some years so not only would he be dying in the Phantom Menace but never would have made it through the Clone Wars as they lasted 22 BBY to 19 BBY.
more importantly he was the council member who insisted that Qui Gon must be wrong about Darth Maul being a Sith, as the "Sith have been extinct for a thousand years"
Will they have him sworn to secrecy at the end of the show? Have his memories force-wiped somehow? Or will they just forget about it and leave it as a glaring plot hole, the same way they did with Vader and Obi Wan's pointless dual on that quarry planet...

TPM takes place in 32 BBY. If he was born before 132 BBY and his species has an average lifespan of 50-60 years, he would be already super dead by then.

When I saw your review presented to me in my 'feed' I thougt, "well, maybe let's at least check out this review and see if she's saying anything good about the show"...kind of like to check and see if I needed to ever watch it or not.

This show has been absolutely abysmal and I feel that an AI bot could write better crap than what Disney has been putting out.
