Hey there... I am glad to see that soooo many people love Sherry. She is a very close friend of mine. You have most of the lyrics correct but there are a few mistakes :) "By the time you said you loved me, I had turned my back... "I spent a long time waiting, What kind of love is that... "Do you really find it thrilling holding someone new? have you got your freedom or just another view?" "hey come on babe come off it...we both been there before" I hope this helps you out :)
A song that should be played on the radio & its a crime its not . Canada , if Canadian music programmers bothered to check , has a great wealth of great tunes out there. Canada has always had if poeple bothered to check . The 80's was a great time & this song was a part of that .
Sherry is my friends aunt, I was with them at the house when they filmed diamonds and pearls. The house was torn down years ago but there's a part in the song with two kids in the loft window, the girl on the left was my best friend Avrielle.
She was beautiful with such a unique voice...I bet she is still beautiful! This song is stuck in my mind every few months or so...since it was released!
Christopher ward used to play this on weekend overnight music video show called city limits on channel 79 in TORONTO. I cant believe i was 13 yrs old in 1984 and now its 2018...time flies...this song never gets old.
I first heard this song in a clothing store in Kensington in Calgary, AB and just had to buy this album! Love it still, After the 80's, Sherry became a country western singer...bet a lot of you didn't know that!
I grew up in the 80s in Toronto... what a great song. I have not heard this song in nearly 30 years! It's still awesome. Sherry looks hot in this video. Never knew it was a TO act!
I stumbled upon this song on an '80's weekend in the '90s and I instantly fell in love with this song! I love the look/feel of the video and the dancing is great! I taped the song on a VHS. I don't know where that VHS is but im glad for people uploading it to RUclips. I hope Sherry is going well wherever she is ❤
I don't how or why, but this song popped into my head today with no provocation at all! Hadn't even thought of it for decades. Great tracks do that I guess!
@@MrBounce01 I have 2 different copies of the original LP - one the store release with the picture of her face and a man whispering to her, the other a blank white cover stamped "Radio Station release" Both I'm 99% sure dated 1983.
Some have asked .,,what's Sheri Kean up to now -a-days.... Well,,,she's currently living in Nova Scotia ( Pictou )..,,Canada,,working as a tour guide for " The McCulloch Heritage Centre",,......she still enjoys singing the songs and does some local singing concerts ,,and still does the song,," I Want You Back".. and her hair style is still the same,,except with some grey ,,,but she still looks amazingly hot..!!.. you can read more about her at.." The Advocate "..check it out....
I remember this song from the 80's while living in Toronto...then I moved to Peterborough, Ontario in 1989. I took a hair dressing course here in the early 90's and Sherry was in my class...she was still doing her music and I have been waiting to see this video again ever since...thanks for posting it...brings back a lot of memories...
One of the few times my memory and reality are correct. Great video. It really was cool. My favourite part is when the camera catches Keane smiling and really enjoying the choreography.
I loved this song when it came out. I bought the album and recorded it onto a TDK SA90 cassette, which I saved for the good stuff, with Alison Moyet’s solo release on the other side. What an 80s flashback. Just saw an Amazon movie called I Want You Back, and I started singing this song to my wife, as I sometimes do. She’s American so I decided to find it on RUclips and share it with her because I had fond memories of the video, too. The movie producers should have used this song for the soundtrack!
I remember this song, but this is the first I've seen the video. Unlike a lot of 80s people who could not get away with what they wore then (asymmetrical haircuts and BRIGHT colours), but she could wear that outfit now.
I have been trying to find this song for what seems like forever. Thank you so much for posting. Now all I need to do is find it to download somewhere. :S
I grew up in the 80's and must confess I had never heard this song. I clicked on it out of curiosity whilst looking for music I might have forgotten about and this song immediately clicked, it's catchy, memorable and has a really cool edge. Her voice is very unique and it has a slight Ronnie Spector vibe going on. Anyway thanks for uploading a should-have-been-classic from the decade that keeps on giving.
Sat in a bar last night trying to remember this song so it was great to see it posted here. Thanks so much and I remember seeing her live several times in Toronto and always had a great time.
What an amazing song! Simple yet vibrant. Brings back many, many great memories from the 80's. It really was a very fun time, great music, dancing and not having to worry about AIDS which changed a lot about the freedoms of sex that we enjoyed.
I have always loved this song,it's the bend in the key board love it I am in the Duran Duran video "the reflex at 18 yrs old filmed the video at the concert I was at in Toronto1985 or 6
Thank you so much for posting. I have all Sherry Keans albums from the 80s and I play them over and over. I like her voice and style. Post as many of her videos you can... thanks again....
@mooseware I was in a band that backed up the Sharks quite a few times in the late 70's early 80's. We both had left handed drummers that made set-up a breeze. They were a fantastic group with many great songs that unfortunately never were released.
If you like this...have any of you heard her dance remix of this song. She re-cut it with "The Original 3" amazing mix. They play it alot at the dance clubs in Toronto and Montreal
I have been looking for this song or video for so long, I thought I was imagining that it existed. Thank you for uploading it. I'm NOT crazy, here's the proof.
I think she lives now in Cobourg. Please post all her stuff. I have all her stuff on vinyl--no CDs. The fuzz at RUclips yanked her interview with J. D. Roberts. Re-post it please! I love this singer!
At a college classmate, that I felt this way about even though the only way to get her attention to be somebody that was attracted to her because that’s all she cared about is whether or not, you were attracted to her or not she just wanted the attention. It was always on again off again.
According to the cover I got here there's: be mine, would you miss me, people talk, litany of love, mixed emotions, including "I want you back"..and some others.
97.3! Exatly where I heard this, coming home from work on Friday. Check out "good times and loving you" by Roadhouse, one of my fave CDN oldies. Think this one is long forgotten. Found it about a year ago after looking for over 20. Has only 2200 views, deserves way more!
Hey, thanks, Horsemanpro63. I may be going to a conference in Pictou in September. I'll be sure to stop in there and say hi to her. (Actually, if she works at the Heritage Centre, she might well be at the same conference!)
T.O. was f-ing cool in the early to mid-80s and a lot of great shite came out of there. Adored the full album 'People Talk' by Ms. Kean...she should have been more appreciated...still, cult status is cult status...the love is sincere and long term.
I remember seeing her do this song with her band "The Sharks" which was more punky than new wave like in this video. It was really awesome. It's a big shame that The Sharks never recorded anything.
I saw this band in a bar in Calgary in '83 and I was about the only one who knew and appreciated who they were and what we were hearing, since there was barely any applause other than myself in that somewhat uncouth and boorish establishment. Nonetheless, she is well-remembered and thier sound too, where it counts. Spudboy
i have tried to find this on winmx too, i wish someone would post this, i would, if i had it. gotta come here to get my fix. pure canadian... can't find it anywhere!!!
I Want 1984 Back.
You and me both brother.
Its gone for a reason.
@@arricammarques1955 1984 is better than 2024
Your living in 1984.
This should honestly have been a big international hit.

Ashamed to say this is the first time I saw this video. My wife was just listening to it. Hope your friend is doing well. Super catchy song.
This is so underrated!!! This song was the 80s!, Sherry Kean was everything!!!

It gets at least every other day rotation on CKWR 98.5 in the daytime.
Great song! She's beautiful and I love the way she moves, her look, her voice. Just wow!!
Director nailed this video; choreography, direction, colour, costume. Remains a classic
Heard this song playing at Save On Foods yesterday. I remembered it but didn't know who sang it. So thanks to Shazam app I'm here!
I heard this song at work for the first time today. Haven’t heard it in years. Love it. Love the beat.
Sherry is my friends aunt, I was with them at the house when they filmed diamonds and pearls.
The house was torn down years ago but there's a part in the song with two kids in the loft window, the girl on the left was my best friend Avrielle.
Oh Yes i remember this gem from 1984 i was a wee lad back then watching this on muchmusic oh yes great Canadian 80s music the absolute best 😄
I haven't heard this song in like 30 years and it randomly got in my head. For some reason, this video scared me when I was a kid.
The ghostly background dancers?😂
She was beautiful with such a unique voice...I bet she is still beautiful! This song is stuck in my mind every few months or so...since it was released!
So damn pretty...such a unique voice.
2021 and this still kicks
Found this the orher day. Brings back great memories growing up in Tironto in the 80s. Would love to see a reunion of 80s Canadian musicians.

Waaaaay too underrated
Agreed! And this came out well before 1984 as noted here.
@@MrBounce01 I have 2 different copies of the original LP - one the store release with the picture of her face and a man whispering to her, the other a blank white cover stamped "Radio Station release"

1983.
Agreed, I loved it and still do!
Great video with a wonderful dancing troup.
I saw this video once on a local video channel in 84. I searched hi and low for this. Thanks for posting!
In early 1980s I bought a bunch of cassettes at a yard sale and this was on blank one over and over the only song on the cassette and it was great

Still love this! Moving to NS but a little south of Pictou. Would love to run into her and kiss her hand in appreciation if she would allow. :-)
Is she originally from Nova Scotia?
Omg i did not know this!!!..im in New Glasgow 10 mins from Pictou
neat! is she originally Canadian?
How kool is this! This has been playing in my head for 2 days.. I had no idea she was living locally 🤟❤✨☺️
I've always wondered who invented the "Sherry Kean Super-Cool Back-'n'-Forth Shoulders Dance!" It was great then and great now.

love this song, and several of the others on the album. have the extended mix of "universe of two," and it's great. happy to find this video, also.
If this song was played in an episode of Stranger Things…. It would break the internet. So good.
Love this song! Glad to see the video. Brings back memories.
One of the few times my memory and reality are correct. Great video. It really was cool.
My favourite part is when the camera catches Keane smiling and really enjoying the choreography.
Thank you so much for posting this video! One of my all time Canadian Favs.

I remember those days well...
What a voice, beautiful 😍
Sherry Kean is awesome! And she always will be!
Great song after all these years. Good memories. Sad memories also just broke up with someone at that time
Stumbled across Echo Beach...then I thought of this song. Great 80's tune.
Far away in time.....
This totally makes me think of MuchMusic in it's '80s heyday. Where did it all go wrong? Anyway, a great song and a great blast from the past.
My name is Jamie, I really love this wonderful song from the 1980s. This song is one of the best songs from my childhood.
I remember seeing this video on Much Music in the mid 80's.
I remember this song, but this is the first I've seen the video. Unlike a lot of 80s people who could not get away with what they wore then (asymmetrical haircuts and BRIGHT colours), but she could wear that outfit now.
Love it...played it at Lipstick when I was the GM in 84'...
I have been trying to find this song for what seems like forever. Thank you so much for posting. Now all I need to do is find it to download somewhere. :S
12 Year Update: Available on Spotify now.
i've been looking for this song....brings me right back to the 80's
Nice...I remember them days and listening to this song on cassette.
Hey! I don't remember her being so cute. But it's been quite some time since I've seen this video. Really vintage 1980s.
Yeah, absolutely....a "second class emotion"...simply cant forget this song....
I remember buying her album just because the cover art intrigued me. Definitely a winner!

A great great song thats never out of rotation at my house !! Well Done !!
I met her briefly back in 1984/85 (not sure). So many fans and she allowed me a moment: she was SO gracious and so appreciative.
Sat in a bar last night trying to remember this song so it was great to see it posted here. Thanks so much and I remember seeing her live several times in Toronto and always had a great time.
I loved Larry's Hideaway. I celebrated my 19th birthday there. Larry already knew me by name.
SO good.
I remember trying to dance like this...in the basement...in the '80s. oh..the '80s
I loved this song then, and I still love it now. But I am canadian and a child of the 80's so a little bias...but 80's music is the best.
80s dancing
Montreal Millenium...house DJ played this song all the time and it was just plain good times! Everyone sang along! LOL
It's on her 1984 album,"People Talk".
What an amazing song! Simple yet vibrant. Brings back many, many great memories from the 80's. It really was a very fun time, great music, dancing and not having to worry about AIDS which changed a lot about the freedoms of sex that we enjoyed.
i love this song!!! takes me right back... i want that time back!!

THANK YOU! I love this song but I've been having a hard time trying to remember the name of the singer. This helps me out a lot.
One of THE BEST hits of the '80's!
OMG it's been a long time since i've heard this song.....jes as good today as it was back then...
sherry rocks
OMG! Hadn't heard this since Video Hits in the 80's! A cool tune for sure, and if you can get past that haircut, nice to look at too!!
Thank you
It was also one the same cassette that I Want You Back was on.If anyone can post it it would make my day. Thanks :)
Great song for the lady with the cat's eyes, great memories!

Was expecting a Jackson 5 cover...but wasn't disappointed, either.
Had to actual google this one. Because i kept getting Jackson 5 and Hoodoo Gurus.
