Roy Clark, Jerry Reid, Glenn Campbell, Jimi Hendrix--- They all gotta be Smiling . This guy is all of them in one . Best I've ever heard. The entire band is unbelievable.
I've had the opportunity to see him live, and I can tell you, as a bluegrass guitar player, Billy is a generational talent. Best player I'll see in my lifetime.
@@thaddeusk4230 I saw Tony dozens of times; this is the next generation of guitar talent. First Tony Rice (great), then Bryan Sutton (better), now Billy (even better!). I have lived in the golden age of flatpicking. Go further back and Doc was the man. I got to see all of these guys many times!
His Daddy taught this boy well! It's like going on a musical ride.. Not easy to do. He's obviously got what all the others don't. We're listening to a legend in the Making.
I was there. I know it may seem impossible, but Billy is getting better all the time and will continue to improve as he has done since he came on the scene. This video is great, but it was even more impressive being there! Billy Strings is the real deal. There is little doubt, assuming he keeps in good health, that he is THE guitarist of the next thirty years. If you like guitar, you're in for a ride! Hold on!
The banjo man (please introduce him) is your protector. He loves you and you respect him. The beginning of great, phenominal, new music. I love it. Its been since the 70's. C'mon guys you're all good.
Why don't you just try and LURRRRRN who the banjo player is, not to mention the mando and bass player. Lazy or just stupid??? You've got a computer, an I phone. Why not just LURRRRRRN. It's so much rewarding that way. Beginning? This above the Mason-Dixon line old MFer (I'm just a shade south of 70) has been digging on BS, seeing him for about 7 years now. Lemme guesss. It was Dust in the Baggie, the anthem for Meth heads out of MO, out of IN or KY that brought him into your focus? Fuck me and fuck these comments.
You think it is this whole new beautiful symphony emerging but then you realize Billy is just tuning his guitar, getting ready to explode into a whole different stratosphere... WTF?
I'M A PICKER MYSELF...THIS KID IS THE BEST I'VE EVER HEARD.. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO EXPLAIN..IF YOUR A BLUE GRASS PICKER YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT...HE HAS A GOD GIVEN TALENT..YOU CAN'T TEACH IT....A LEGEND IN THE MAKING... GODSPEED ALWAYS....
First off kill the fucking caps, and your preaching to a very large choir (he's a wonderful talented musician). I'm just a shade south of 70 y.o., and I could have told you that 7 years ago. But the best ever? You need to mine the genre a bit grasshopper.
Pleanty of people play fast, like the 11 yr olds that 2 hand tap and so on. All over youtube it seems. Agree with ya, and even more than fast, it's fast with feeling. That's what makes him good to me... Cheers friend.
Thank you for watching, Cameron. Yeah, of all the Billy Strings I’ve seen, I must say this version of Black Clouds is my all-time favorite performance of his; it is absolutely incredible; I’ve watched it over and over again about 200 times.
Yeah, watching him play this with SCI was so great! The fun you could see on his and Bill's faces while back and forthing is just beautiful! This performance is great, but sometimes it's a little too weird when Billy goes off on his "experimental" tangents, which happens a little here 🤷🏻♂️ Still fucking great though!
This is straight fire you were not joking! UNREAL! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Unless you're that young, and never had the opp to see one David Anthony Rice play.

This entire band is just unbelievably gifted. Love them ❤️🎶🎶🎶❤️
Talent like this only comes once in a generation. Maybe once a lifetime.
Think my phone just melted ❤❤❤

I know, Peter. I’ve watched that video at least a thousand times. Billy is other worldly.
Yes. Every single performance is intoxicating.
Astounding! Billy’s skills are beyond! This is one of his best performances and he just keeps getting better.

Mr. Mercer, I can only play the radio so I'm glad you said that. I 100% agree for what it's worth. The SAD part is my radio NEVER plays him🤔

Doc Watson was better than Billy. Billy is a very close second. This is just my opinion though.
@@axisbold1967 As was one David Anthony Rice
One word for this guy AWESOME
Love it! ❤ Doesn't get any better! 👍Billy is the man. Some people play fast just for the sake of speed. He adds gobs of feeling and incredible tone!

This is, indeed, dope. omg. redunkulous good.
Bill Monroe is dancin a jig in heaven🎉
I ♥️ Billy
Thanks for posting this! Billy's jam with SCI on Black Clouds from DelFest this year blew me away. Glad to see he's taken to covering the song now.

Me too
That was amazing, wasn't it?
thanks for the capture~ damn can he/they play
🤘🐐
I believe you could give them young men shoe strings and baler twine and they would make music!! And Billy is something very special....
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and friends. World Peace!
When killing it is a good thing.
Yes the guitar! But the harmonizing starting around 11:37 for the next minute or so. This band is SO good.
The acoustic SRV.
Seriously
He should play live at prison. He's got plenty of songs they could relate to.
Pretty sure I love you based solely on your supporting of billy in the description of this video and the 1x1cm photo of you doing a yoga pose......
This is kind of epic - how frenetic Billy is compared to Failing…
Wow, I think I need a cigarette
THE Jerry Garcia zone. Anthem of The Sun,era.
Now, that's a stretch.
OH MY GOODNESS! This is sexy!
This is a far cry from Deliverance.
1 dislike = person who hates music
Nope, just a jergov, and he's got a few more doing same. Fck em. Ignore em' They're inconsequential.
How about Billy failing tho what a banjo solo
I guess I'm just old but I prefer Bluegrass!
