I'd stay in one again, no hesitation. I spent more on the taxi fare heading back from the wedding to the hotel lol. I was in the room for about 7 hours. Worth it.
Great review. That window was a hoot - have never seen anything like it. It was clean - that is important. My only real requirements, clean, bed, shower, and quiet. Hit all four.
Hey Tim! I love your videos! My husband and I watch all the time! We live in the US and I love seeing all the different places we could stay when we ever get to come to the UK. On a side note, I am stunned that there are hotel rooms that dont have windows or very small windows. In the US its illegal for a habitable room to not have a window large enough to exit in case of emergency.
Stayed in two of these. One in London and the other in Amsterdam. As long as you see it as just a place to dump your stuff and sleep, they’re ok. stayed at the one in Manchester, where the walls were so paper thin they provided you with earplugs for the noise! but agree with you on the beds, super comfy, I was visiting on a city break so just needed somewhere to rest my head and shower, which were both nicely taken care of. was a really good night's sleep provided you put your earplugs in!
I felt very claustrophobic watching this video, that tiny room dark room, hardly any window. I kept thinking about being trapped in a fire and not being able to get out or something. I personally couldn't cope in there 🤯
That is a very good point about the fire safety. You’d have to MAKE sure you knew how to get out, and I mean not just check the fire exits, I mean walk round and just weigh it up and look round. You never know, but if you look round and something bad happens your survival mode will kick in and all the stuff your subconscious picked up on will help you get help or get out.
Stayed in a one in Luton a few months back, basement room - tiny space with no windows and didn’t even have a little shelf by each bed! Felt incredibly claustrophobic and uncomfortable - shouldn’t really be able to charge for something as poor as that. At least the bathroom door was solid!

This was another eye opener of a room for a great price. The room was very smart and the quiet is something you wouldn't of expected. I would like to see you try a few other Easy Hotel rooms in different places to see if they all have the same great quality or was this a one off.
Me and my girlfriend have stayed in easyhotel brussels, Berlin and London Victoria all good if you are a travelling on a budget and realise you only get what you pay for. Brussels definitely the biggest room of 3 and they are always in good locations
I do love easyHotel - it's really cheap and I've stayed in a few around London. Always clean, although usually some scuffs. Rooms are small, but for the price you can't complain. Especially when other hotel brands are over 3x the price, and barely clean the place!
Must have been a Thursday with the bells of St Mary le Tower in the background! The drawing behind the bed is pretty cool, includes lots of local landmarks like the Orwell bridge so they're clearly unique to each location.
A thoughtful review. I was impressed overall with the room, though it would be a little tight with a couple of suitcases. As others have said, I would be more than happy with frosted glass because there are just certain bodily functions I do not want to expose to others.
I live in Ipswich and have not seen many people go in and out of this hotel. It is fairly new as well. Previously the building this is in used to be a night club. Looks like they've done it up quite nicely really and seems ideal for people coming to the town for business.
Imagine you're planning to unwind and forget everything about work but then it all flashes back to you upon walking down the hotel corridors 😆 kidding. Anyway, great choice if you're planning to stay in an affordable hotel that gives you comfort as well. Good-to-go too if you're in emergency and need to stay for a night.
I will admit i didnt know these hotels were still a thing. I must say i was quite impressed with the basic functionality and the cleanliness. If you just want a place to crash in for the night maybe 2 at the most they look great. Cant argue with the price either !
Missed the last train in London and ended up staying in one of these. Was in the basement so no windows, but there was no space either side of the bed, it was sandwiched in the walls, the only place you could walk was a tiny strip at the end of the bed and the bathroom, so the capsule hotel comparisons are accurate 😂 with two people you could barely move but it did the job for the night, this Ipswich one looks far nicer though
I once stayed in a hotel in Amsterdam with my brother. The bathroom was directly opposite where the beds were positioned and the bathroom doors were clear glass. As much as I love my brother I don’t want to watch him take a shower and other things. Frosted glass is must 👌
Frosted glass is an absolute must, if no proper door. I wouldn’t want to watch someone or have them see me on the toilet? Also sometimes staff have burst in to people without realising for room service or cleaning etc. and you might be staying with a friend!
I stayed in the Milton Keynes one a few months ago. The room was nearly identical to yours although the LEDs weren't under the bed. You mentioned how it felt like an office block - the one in Milton Keynes on d was an office block that they converted. I agree regarding the storage situation, it was annoying having to balance things on the rock hard headboard or put them on the floor, and everywhere was sound-proofed except the door, so I could hear everyone going through the corridor. However I would definitely stay in one again. Great value
I've stayed in Oxford's EasyHotel several times and it does what I need it to. If you're travelling alone I'd recommend getting a twin, rather than a double, then you have the second bed for 'storage'.
I've known about these hotels but never given it thought to stay in one. Very clean just a bit limited on space but I would stay in one now! Thanks for the review Tim, most helpful.
I stayed in this one a lot. Some of the windows are frosted narrow things close to ceiling height that can't be opened. The more spacious rooms are really worth it, though!
I, actually like the concept of having to power on your room with a card. I think it’s an interesting and quirky thing to do and economically it probably saves them a bit on their electric bill.
No history, no frills, no glamour... But, well worth £40/night for a clean and comfortable visit with modern fixings. Great review again Tim which has made me really consider the chain easyHotel.
I stayed in the Sheffield one back in 2019 for one night and was impressed overall. I had a windowless room which I didn't mind and the bed was fairly comfy. The only problem was that I could hear people coming and going past my room a lot. If I recall my room was in the far corner and I believe there may have been a storage cupboard near it so presumably staff were coming and going into it a lot. I'd forgotten to take my earplugs so the noise would've been remedied had I remembered to take them with me
Ooh I didn't know there was one in Sheffield, are they actually in central/decent locations, or is it like with the flights when people used to say you'd fly to somewhere 'sort of near' the place you were trying to reach?
At first, i didn't like the room as too small with a tiny window but it's quiet cheap, so not bad for the price. It would be a good option for people with a tight budget or staying for a night. Thanks for your review. 👍
Stayed in the Sheffield one in 2019 while working in the city. Clean, quiet and a cozy bed. Had a windowless room and was honestly one of the best nights sleep I've had in a hotel.
I’ve stayed in this one in Ipswich and yes it is probably the quietest hotel I’ve been in as well!! But it was showing some signs of neglect in some communal areas. Aside from that it was good and can definitely be recommended for short stays where you are planning to be out all day…
I've stayed in a few in London and when you consider that the rooms are just compartments built into the existing building, it is very quiet. What passes for a window in these hotels is stretching it a bit. I really like these hotels, cheap, clean and everything works. Oh and I've never stayed in an Easy Hotel with an uncomfortable bed.
Nice to see this review in my hometown Tim. Always wondered what it looked like inside as I always walk past it. Looks nice and cozy. Ideal for a short stopover. Been in that building many times back in the day when it was Chicago’s nightclub!.
I’d rather stay somewhere like this with no frills than a dusty Britannia hotel, only drawbacks for me would be the general lack of space and a claustrophobic feeling and no hot drinks in your room. Kinda reminds me of an Ibis budget hotel I stayed in a few years back but that room was a bit bigger than this one (still smaller than a Premiere Inn room)
@@handsoffmycactus2958 Maybe it only matters to me as someone who requires caffeine to function. And I always appreciate when glasses are included for tap water.
I stayed in the Easy Hotel on Edinburgh Princes Street, did pay for a window but got a fantastic view! The room was in effect the bay window looking out over Princes Street Garden at the castle. Yes it was mega tiny, you could pretty well sit on the loo and shower at the same time but ours was clean, bed was comfy and price was good -ok for a couple of nights 🙂
Thanks for this review Tim. Think I'll have to stick to Premier Inn for budget stays as there doesn't appear to be enough room for luggage and I'm rarely able to travel light unfortunately.
I staying one in Liverpool think one’s something like £160 for 3 nights at the time. No window, tiny room but was just me not need nothing big only needed for sleep and shower. Clean and comfortable and staff was friendly too. Location fantastic also very central literally 5 minutes walk from the cavern club
Stayed in a few (6) of them, some better than others but usually pretty central, clean, comfortable and safe which is really all you need if just wanting a bed for the night. Functional and if you want a similar concept but with a bit more luxury, try Z hotels. Personally, since their refurbs, I've become a bit of a fan of Premier Inn for the usually small price difference.
I have never stayed in an Easy Hotel but in Germany I have often stayed in a budget chain named Motel One. It seems similar in concept and really good in my experience.
This room definitely has the "Point.A Hotel" vibe to it...I've stayed in very similar rooms in London (Kings Cross and Lambeth North), they are quite compact rooms but it's not bad to just put your head down for a few hours... It's cheap enough and did the job fairly well, I had one without a window. And if you want another 'bad' hotel to look into Tim, The County Hotel in London is a prime candidate for you! Just outside of Euston Square, I have quite fond memories of that hotel.
In a way it's a pity Mount Eccles' Court Hostel in Dublin is no longer around because that would have made a terrific video back in about 2010! It was dirt-cheap, ten Euros a night in a dorm, but properly rundown. Doors that had clearly been bashed in at least once and barely opened anymore, very wonky steel bunk beds, lights barely hanging by the wires, bubbling, dirty brown lino in the showers, sockets falling out of the walls, everything. Judging by the web site they did do it up really nicely a few years later though. Budget accommodation in Dublin was interesting at that time. Stayed in four hostels, looked at another two I think, didn't like any of them. Other Irish cities had some absolutely amazing hostels though, I really enjoyed my trip!
I always used to use them with my ex. Used to be £40 amazing rooms and way beyond a bargain for the price and we used to go from Friday to Sunday but now the prices are outrageous.
I travel, even abroad, with practically no luggage, and this hotel I find perfect! Clean, minimalist, and everything needed is there in a logical no nonsense design. My kind of thing! That's why I also like Ibis Budget!
Thanks for your reviews. I love that you are really fair with your opinions. I've never stayed at an easy hotel but there is one in my city, Glasgow, so I do know that they exist. I'm a really big fan of Travelodge, as a budget single traveller they offer some amazing deals. I just had a couple of nights in Dundee and too advantage of their winter sale and pains £50 for 2nights incl WiFi. Was the room perfect? no, but the value for money was above and beyond. I would lf love you to do a TL review some time.
I would be careful with Travelodge. I've heard from quite a few people that in some locations, women of a certain profession hang around there soliciting. It's probably not all Travelodge Hotels but just be careful.
@@LittleKitty22 I imagine there could be some like that, but luckily I have never stayed in one like that. Tbh I do have quite realistic expectations though and believe you get what you pay for
Stayed in the one near Paddington station back in 2016. Had a morning appointment at the old US embassy for my Green Card and wanted to stay close by in case there were any delays with same day travel. The hotel was very basic but served a purpose, and staying at a regular hotel would have cost double. Made it to my appointment and now a US citizen!
Ive stayed at Easy hotel Newcastle and i was very happy. Fantastic vakue for miney and i think we payed something like £25 for the night and £5 for the tv. Very comfortable and in a great position for access to pubs, transport and food outlets! Another great video tim!
I'd never heard of them I must confess. Impressed with the cleanliness and for just a night or so would stay. Lack of storage would be an issue for more than a couple of nights but pleasantly surprised!
I stayed in the Easy Hotel in Cardiff, I forgot my USB plug and was googling if they had USB ports, so I'm glad you included this in your review. Also wasn't a huge fan of the location and size of the TV, I believe you just get freeview channels on there too - I'm always a fan when hotels have smart TVs and you can use your own Netflix ect
I've stayed at an easyHotel in Manchester, I found the design and use of space really interesting. Decent bed and decent price. No complaints here...well maybe the group of drunks running down the corridors at 4 in the morning but thats not the hotels fault.
Haven't they rebranded to ConJet, instead of EasyJet, now? Also, I've never heard of an EasyHotel, like, ever. It's interesting, but really quite depressing that there's no cupboard or tea facilities in room.
No frosted glass essential as we have had a couple of sales reps stay in these rooms so you have to provide some privacy. It was only meant to be for one person but if you go out for a few drinks then sometimes it isn’t unusual for someone to share your room. I have done it myself when someone says come on have a drink you can crash in my room and if you are anything like me that’s an invitation you are not going to turn down. This room has everything you need for a break and chances are you are not going to spend much time there anyway.
I like this as a sleeping pod on my solo travels. I will def look into this chain on my next euro trip. I like frosted bathrooms: less claustrophobic, but I absolutely need an opening window… even if it’s tiny.
Seeing that window it definitely comes across as a waste of money. But I do wonder if a windowless room might bring on feelings of claustrophobia in a lot of people.
When booking a room with window, do you have to pay extra? If so, I'd be asking for a partial refund 😅 but overall, for the price of the room can't really complain.
Looks practically identical to the rooms in those Hub hotels that Premier Inn do. They're generally decent as a "bed for the night" option but I wouldn't specifically book a holiday in one.
This made me recall my horrible experience staying at the one in Sheffield. I suddenly woke up thinking there was an earthquake in the morning because the trolly the staff used was extremely noisy.
Had to stay in one of these when our flight was cancelled overnight, and was actually really nice! Had a kitchen area, fridge, food/drink in the room, and a balcony onto the harbour out the front, was very nice 😅
I stayed in the Croydon one a few times over the years. On two occasions the walk in shower was flooded all over the bathroom floor and at least once we had an early morning alarm call and had to exit the building between 6 and 7am as someone had (yet again) set off the fire alarm. Never again.
That window reveal was _hilarious!_ And frosted glass is very much a necessity 😐 Aw… I wanna stay in an easyHotel and fly on easyJet! I’m a jealous American
I stayed at the Manchester EasyHotel and found it to feel very small and hostel-like, which gave me a very different experience to the Glasgow one, which was waaaaay more generous. Interesting hotel product!
i live close to hear in Felixstowe and have thought about using this place when on nights out in Ipswich. i've always given it a miss though as i thought it would be disgusting but the place looks a lot better then some expensive hotels i've stayed in
This doesn’t look bad for £40. In Blackpool on the prom they started building one but it was left abandoned in the early stages and the framework is still there. Cheers Tim.
Nice safe lift, 1:25. Where next Tim, 2:25. I was thing about that, 6:00. I have seen Easy Hotels before but never stayed in one. Thank you for the review vlog. No restaurant at easy hotel as they are only for a short stay.
Looks like the Western version of a capsule hotel. It works if you're on an extra tight budget, but if you can afford it go to a Premier Inn (or a Hub, which is a more "capsule-y" concept)
Stayed in one in Birmingham last year and the window there was huge lol. Clean and cheap with a fantastic breakfast place called ruby's opposite. Better than the nearby holiday inn
Yes it might be a bit small and compact and a bit office like but it seems very clean and hygienic, much cleaner than some of the hotels you have stayed in Tim
Very interesting. I also did not realise that these still existed. I think that if you just need somewhere for the night (after a late night out etc) then it does the job. Certainly I would stay at one if that was all I needed.

Anyway, great choice if you're planning to stay in an affordable hotel that gives you comfort as well. Good-to-go too if you're in emergency and need to stay for a night.
It seems a very clean place, and that makes all the difference. Well presented, Tim, and so many thanks for showing us this hotel.
Glad you enjoyed it
Each room is a pod, put inplace 1 by 1 like blocks next to eachother using a crane. Thats why your window is like it is.
I will admit i didnt know these hotels were still a thing. I must say i was quite impressed with the basic functionality and the cleanliness. If you just want a place to crash in for the night maybe 2 at the most they look great. Cant argue with the price either !
I stay at the MK one often. It’s clean, comfortable and just what you need for sleeping and showering
Yeah if youre desperate and need a roof for the night needs must, keeps you of the street 😁
At least you had more legroom than their Jets. LOL 😂
I would stay there it look ok for the price. It seemed very quiet. The room was not that bad. The bathroom was nice. Good job, Tim
I've now stayed in 2 Easyhotels they were very good thanks to this video, Well worth looking at on a budget.
This reminds me of the Pod Hotels and the Yotel I sometimes use in New York. No frills, small but quite cozy. I'd stay there!
That is absolutely standard practice in just about every hotel around the world that I've visited over the last 25 years, from 2 star to 5 star.
Common in many hotels, but luckily you can just put your debit card or a clubcard in there or something and trick it into staying on all the time.
@@lukes7479 No longer true, the last 10 years or so, many of them read the embedded chip, i.e. they are smart.
@@poruatokin Ah good to know. Every hotel I was in just had simple ones you can put any card in.
No history, no frills, no glamour... But, well worth £40/night for a clean and comfortable visit with modern fixings. Great review again Tim which has made me really consider the chain easyHotel.
If only I was on commission lol
@@theinvisibleneonrainbowzeb2567 The Sheffield one was central and I get the feeling that most, if not all, of them are central
Easy-Video! User- friendly, simple. The 'window' is as wide as a plane window.
Aside from that it was good and can definitely be recommended for short stays where you are planning to be out all day…
Just stand there quiet
I've stayed in a few in London and when you consider that the rooms are just compartments built into the existing building, it is very quiet. What passes for a window in these hotels is stretching it a bit. I really like these hotels, cheap, clean and everything works. Oh and I've never stayed in an Easy Hotel with an uncomfortable bed.
I'd love to see you revisit some of the previously reviewed worst hotels and see what has changed, if you could I would even book the exact same room!
coming soon :-)
Yes it did look in the corridors as though you’re in an office block but the room looks very nice
Nice to see this review in my hometown Tim. Always wondered what it looked like inside as I always walk past it. Looks nice and cozy. Ideal for a short stopover. Been in that building many times back in the day when it was Chicago’s nightclub!.
i now know where the ez hotel is. interesting to see what they did with that nightclub.
Looks great for the price, the glass bathrooms are always fun. This building is a converted nightclub.
I don’t get having hot drinks in the room. It’s weird. Just take some pop or water with you or booze if you’re drinking
Think I'll have to stick to Premier Inn for budget stays as there doesn't appear to be enough room for luggage and I'm rarely able to travel light unfortunately.
stick it under the bed?
yes that's the only issue
Agreed, but I go for Z. However, they're hiking their prices.
Always find Premier Inns to be very good
I have never stayed in an Easy Hotel but in Germany I have often stayed in a budget chain named Motel One.
It’s cheap and small, but clean, it does what it needs to do well
I usually stay at the County, absolutely dire but I expect it going in! Had bogeys on the walls and all the usual extras 😆
Other Irish cities had some absolutely amazing hostels though, I really enjoyed my trip!
looks like an office because it most definitely is a converted office building
the glass in front of the window is for insulation
I always used to use them with my ex. Used to be £40 amazing rooms and way beyond a bargain for the price and we used to go from Friday to Sunday but now the prices are outrageous.
I travel, even abroad, with practically no luggage, and this hotel I find perfect! Clean, minimalist, and everything needed is there in a logical no nonsense design. My kind of thing! That's why I also like Ibis Budget!
Agree
Ewww don’t you wear clean clothes and wear deodorant and stuff? You need a small bag at least
Tbh I do have quite realistic expectations though and believe you get what you pay for
I actually went for a room without a window and loved the hotel somewhere cheap n cheerful
Maybe they are taking the plane theme the whole way. Small windows that have 2 curtains. I've seen first class ones like that.
Ive stayed at Easy hotel Newcastle and i was very happy. Fantastic vakue for miney and i think we payed something like £25 for the night and £5 for the tv.
Very comfortable and in a great position for access to pubs, transport and food outlets!
Another great video tim!
I paid about the same when I stayed there when it was Tune.
@@leauk value for money for a nights accomadation is pretty bang on. Clean & tidy rooms, nice bathroom and a comfy bed. Whats not to like!
Thanks for sharing!
I've never had an issue with easyJet, and I've used them extensivly.
British Airways however....
In the UK we normally stay in a Travelodge. Cheap - sometimes they could be a little cleaner but lovely comfy beds.
Tim, I think I would get the cheaper one without a window. 🤓
Seeing that window it definitely comes across as a waste of money. But I do wonder if a windowless room might bring on feelings of claustrophobia in a lot of people.
@@KingHumphrey Not for one or two nights as you wouldn't be in there except for sleeping.
I kind of like this hotel so small yet cosy and comfy. However, I do like the frosty bathroom glass though, kind of privacy protection lol
When booking a room with window, do you have to pay extra? If so, I'd be asking for a partial refund 😅 but overall, for the price of the room can't really complain.
Chances of getting a refund are as slim as the window. 😂
Looks practically identical to the rooms in those Hub hotels that Premier Inn do. They're generally decent as a "bed for the night" option but I wouldn't specifically book a holiday in one.
Looks like a prison cell in Norway
Besides the bathroom, that room is the pure definition of a BEDroom.
Literally a bed with walls around it.
This made me recall my horrible experience staying at the one in Sheffield. I suddenly woke up thinking there was an earthquake in the morning because the trolly the staff used was extremely noisy.
omg
Had to stay in one of these when our flight was cancelled overnight, and was actually really nice! Had a kitchen area, fridge, food/drink in the room, and a balcony onto the harbour out the front, was very nice 😅
The room looks ok. Neat. Clean. Modern. If one criticism it’s really tiny. Maybe a couple of metres on 3 sides of the bed would be good.
Brilliant if you are on a budget. As long as it's warm, clean and tidy
I stayed in the Croydon one a few times over the years. On two occasions the walk in shower was flooded all over the bathroom floor and at least once we had an early morning alarm call and had to exit the building between 6 and 7am as someone had (yet again) set off the fire alarm. Never again.
That window reveal was _hilarious!_
And frosted glass is very much a necessity 😐
Aw… I wanna stay in an easyHotel and fly on easyJet!
I’m a jealous American
lol
I stayed at the Manchester EasyHotel and found it to feel very small and hostel-like, which gave me a very different experience to the Glasgow one, which was waaaaay more generous. Interesting hotel product!
A dorm bed in in a Ipswich hostel with an unknown breakfast is more expensive than this private room. 🤯
i live close to hear in Felixstowe and have thought about using this place when on nights out in Ipswich. i've always given it a miss though as i thought it would be disgusting but the place looks a lot better then some expensive hotels i've stayed in
This doesn’t look bad for £40. In Blackpool on the prom they started building one but it was left abandoned in the early stages and the framework is still there. Cheers Tim.
@@ballbag Well hello there :)
I've stayed in a couple and they didn't have temp controls, only blew out cold air.
In 2012, I stayed in the Amsterdam EasyHotel with my brother, and trust me, we were grateful for the frosted glass!!
Great Vid Tim you asked for a room with a window and they give you the smallest window you couldn’t even look out off
Nice safe lift, 1:25.
That elevator at the beginning had a big jolt.
Had cheaper city centre family Travelodge rooms. Still looks fab
I tend to stay in one in Victoria in London and work is easy but it’s central to everything. Just don’t get a room without a window
Very interesting. I also did not realise that these still existed. I think that if you just need somewhere for the night (after a late night out etc) then it does the job. Certainly I would stay at one if that was all I needed.
