Sixt is quite a big player in Germany / Austria and always has top notch cars. But at the same time it’s probably one of the more expensive ones. Billiger-Mietwagen.de is also a great alternative. Has often great deals.
While Indian driving licences are technically accepted in Austria, getting a supplementary international driving permit will probably make things easier in case you need to interact with local police/administration, as well as with car rental companies. You will find most road signs familiar, as both countries are signatories to the Vienna convention on road signs, so basically use the same shapes, colours and symbols. But of course you should still familiarize yourself with the driving rules in Austria before hitting the road. If you come from a flat region, a refresher on how to safely drive on mountain roads (particularly when it comes to selecting the correct gear and correct use of the brakes) might also be useful before tackling a mountain pass (or even some of the more remote valleys).
Road maintenance and construction are expensive. Especially when it comes to tunnels or mountain passes. Some sections of mountain roads basically have to be rebuilt after each winter!
