    This was a big help, was just a little confused with the directions on the package. I couldn't understand why after it was hung that I was supposed to take it down and rehang. You made it all very clear. Thank you

      It helps the Command tape to "cure" - I don't know the word, but so it adheres to the wall more securely.

    So smart. This is a lifesaver for frames that I recently broke. I accidentally ripped off the hangers from the frames and I didn't really want to repurchase them. Since they need to be removed anyway to do this with the command strips, my frames are back in the game!!! Wooohoooo! Thanks for the idea. Wouldn't have thought of this myself.

    How useful! I'm going to be putting valuable (to us) family photos on a few walls. Measuring correctly so that I can drive in a nail is more complicated, especially since I will likely move or add to the photos. So over-shooting the weight on the Command Strips is a great idea. Super video! And listen to none of these nay-sayers. You did a good job for those of us who needed some extra help. I wasn't looking for perfection on everything. You did good.

    The tip about the level will be helpful! Will go buy one today! I tried to put up a picture per their instructions, removing it for the hour after first positioning . I could not press hard enough to get the Velcro to reconnect to reattach the picture. What a waste! Will not remove after putting up the first time. Your video was super helpful.

      I don’t use this particular command strip anymore. Too difficult and wrecks the wall when you try to remove. Use a different type.

    I had to do some re-vamping to use these but. It worked. My painting is 4 ft long and 3bft high. With felt all around the back of the frame. Cut out four sections. Alcoholed them and stuck these to the back folds of the canvas. Didn't land on my head yet.

    I tried to fix one that I hung due to it not being level, and of course it just ripped the whole thing off the wall, including the paint. These work great for actually holding the objects on the wall, but when you need to adjust or take them down if you're moving, prepare for destruction to the paint! I suppose that's better than a hole from a nail in the wall.

  • @cmacmail
    @cmacmail 6 месяцев назад +1

    Good video but not removing the picture when it is first hung is a mistake. In my experience, getting the wall mounted half secured is key. The whole "put it up and take it down" is just a way to get the wall half in the correct position. The essential part is to press the wall half for at least 30 seconds, then leave it alone for an hour or two. It makes a huge difference. Not only is the wall half getting time to bond completely, so is the artwork half. Put it up too quickly and it will not be securely bonded on either surface.

    • @Therealethanparker
      @Therealethanparker  3 года назад +8

      I get that...I will say that I have taken ~10 off the wall, and that I only had one that caused some damage. The paint on my walls was right at 1 year old, so it was on the newer side.
      Good luck with whatever you pick! If you are ok with putting small holes in your wall you could try a product called “Monkey Hooks”.

    The adhesive really does fail if it gets to hot. I'm in Canada and this year I hung a newly acquired degree on my wall using 3M adhesive. Once summer came along the adhesive buckled and my degree fell to the floor.

      The alcohol would remove any oils from the wall. Oils would cause the strips to eventually slip.

  • @alexandrawalsh436
    @alexandrawalsh436 2 года назад +5

    "Rule breaker"?! It's crucial to take the frame back off for one hour to allow all strips to fully bond without weight on them. If you don't follow steps 5 and 6 of the instructions you will, at some time, find that the adhesive will FAIL and it will be user error, not the fault of the product.
    Also why did you not use the NARROW Hanging Strips for your narrow-edged frame?

      You might try a drywall hook product like this one: www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07XKXZMCQ/ref=psdcmw_511352_t2_B001KVMNPI
      That product will make you put a hole into your wall though to use it.
      I know there is also a Command Strip Hook product you might could try, but I have never used them: www.amazon.com/Command-Damage-Free-Small-without-Packaging/dp/B0751TRS6Y/ref=asc_df_B0751TRS6Y/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=216553642992&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8778922982457992818&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014964&hvtargid=pla-370444613160&psc=1

    If your going to instruct people on how to use 3M command strips for picture hanging why would you leave out a major part of the instructions. When you put the frame up and got it straight. YOU HAVE TO LEAVE FOR A HOUR before you put the frame back on the wall. And he says it " I can't be bothered" yes good teaching....
