    Nice video. For me, this pen (as for almost all Pilot Pens) is a thing of beauty and understated elegance. Have one in SB nib, though I have learnt that these nibs are ideally for Japanese calligraphy. As you have rightly mentioned this is not a flex nib, has not been claimed to be one, but flexes much more than the Conklin All American Duraflex. Writing with this, needs getting used to as it is one of the lightest pens. But it is addictive. And once you are hooked there is no getting out.
    Thanks again for the good work done.

    I've had my Falcon for...years! The (strong) + is as you state -- the nib. It's a wonderful writer. I find the pen itself more on the light side than I like and the resin is adequate but nothing special. Mine shows various dings, scratches etc by now. My first thought was, "no, it's not worth $152" when I compare the barrel, cap etc to other pens I have but then I remember what a great writer it is with a gold nib to boot so yes, worth every penny

      True! I got the red and rhodium model that looks fairly inexpensive, but not of that matters when it’s loaded with some good sheening ink and I’m making marks with the soft broad nib.

    This was one of the first pens that I desired when I first got into fountain pens just under two years ago. It's been in my Goulet pens wish list since. I can't wait to get my hands on one. Dunno why I've waited so long. Really enjoyed your writing sample; you have great cadence and rhythm when you write.

    Excellent review! I enjoy this pen too. Recently I purchased a Bock Titanium nib for a Karas Kustoms Ink fountain pen. The fine point is almost as fine as the Falcon nib and it has a lot of softness and bounce. This can be an alternative for someone who wants a heavy metal pen. There are many color options for the body and grip section.

    I had this pen some time ago and gifted it to a friend. He's very happy with it. As for me, I loved the nib, but the cheap feel of the body and the miniscule capacity of the converter steered me to the larger Custom 912 with the #10 size FA nib and the Con70 converter. The 912 costs more of course, but I felt it was worth it. That's just me though.
    Glad you like your pen. The nib is a good one.

    I bought my pen maybe a couple years now and it has the brand 'Namiki' on it. It's very flexible especially when I'm signing my signature, and I don't have to apply any extra pressure, it goes from very fine and 'flares out' very nicely. I bought it from 'Fahrney's Pens'. I just checked the catalogue and they still have them (page 28) advertised Namiki Falcon 'super flex'nib *special $152.00. On page 29, they have almost the same exact pen, 'Pilot Custom 912' (6 specialty nib choices) *special $238.00 - Just thought I'd mention it, either way, Namiki or Pilot, it writes really nice.

  • @vwood2
    @vwood2 5 лет назад +3

    Thanks for another great review! I bought a Namiki Falcon 10 or so years ago, also with a soft-fine nib. For me personally, it’s a disappointment. I bought it to introduce a little variation to sketches. I don’t find it soft at all - in fact it’s very stiff. I have since bought some fine Platinum Cools for drawing, which are softer and much more responsive. I don’t have a heavy hand, but when I do add a bit of pressure to the Falcon, it’s so fine that it practically slices the paper. I’m glad it’s been a good match for you, and hearing your experience makes me think mine may benefit from some professional adjustment.But for now, it’s a regret pen.

    • @aaronspenvideos4420

      @vwood2 5 лет назад

      Aaron's Pen Videos Thanks. True, Matt really wasn’t enamoured - even when he revisited it 😅. But so many people love the pen and the nib, that mine is probably just an outlier. Seeing your review has prompted me to get it out of it’s box, and I’ll explore having it adjusted, so thank you. Cheers - hope you have many happy hours enjoying yours.

    • @SteveAtkinsonFineArt
      @SteveAtkinsonFineArt 3 года назад +1

      @@machinayrequiem8596 it depends on how small you draw on location. If you're using a standard size sketchbook, say 5X8 or larger, I'd definitely go with the F and not EF. EF is too thin and scratchy. Even the F can be scratchy unless you do a bit of nib smoothing.

    • @aaronspenvideos4420
      @aaronspenvideos4420  5 лет назад +3

      I typically baby my pens. However, the resin seems thinner than my custom 74 and I am sure the pen will get micro scratches over time. As long as you aren't really hard on the material it should last for some time.

    Comparing the con-50 falcon t the con-70 falcon; which would be more ideal for illustrating and urban sketching? Considering the weight, capacity and hand/arm fatigue. I wear a men's, large glove. Any comments would be helpful in making the decision. Thanks!

    • @aaronspenvideos4420
      @aaronspenvideos4420  5 лет назад +1

      The con 70 will definitely give you a better ink capacity and the converter I think is the best design that pilot offers. Obviously the pen is going to way more so you will have to consider that but you can get other colors that aren't available in the resin. I enjoy the resin that I have, but it is very lightweight. All in all it is your personal preference; do you enjoy the hefty pen with the bigger ink capacity for $250 or the more lightweight pen with smaller ink capacity for $150.

      Aaron's Pen Videos thanks for the reply. It’s my first fountain pen. I’m used to using ballpoint pens for edc. A fountain pen has been on my list for some time. I generally always look for the best deal or cheapest way to obtain a pen, which I have built most of my channel around.
