Pickaholic Good to know I'm not the only one who found these tricky. The biggest ACE Brass one took me months before I got it open. For the longest time I felt happy knowing I could bypass it, but not pick it. 😁
Don'z Lockz you need the rekeyable Ace locks too. I love the one that looks like the American 5200 and American 700. They come with serrated and serrated spools.
Congrats on the opening. Opening those tricky difficult locks is so much more of an achievement and a learning experience - as I am finding out! Thanks for the vid
I used lineman pliers, flat side, to tap-find the 6 side hole plugs and carefully drilled 1/16" holes in the centers of them (first 5 I think, 6th is for something else), then used a slightly larger bit and slow speed to "bind" up and spin out the plugs, ruining them of course but you can re-use them if you're careful by filling them back in with solder & reshaping them with sandpaper, making them slip-fitting and using tape to hold them in. Works fine. Mine had 4 spools and one regular pin, was definitely formidable to pick. Took me several hours practicing 15-30 min at a time over several evenings. Good lock for the money, nice n small.
It's great when you can find a cheap lock that is harder to pick. But then I find it gets annoying knowing a cheap lock is slowing me down 🙄 great picking and keep up the amazing work. Would be happy for you to add me to you list of people to send challenge locks to. I have Got some ready to send out.
So I found this video because I've tried for a WEEK to pick a lock that I have a set of 4 of from Ace. It looks like a normal master padlock, with the stacked stamp metal. The key looks similar to the one showed in the video. It doesn't say anything on it other than Ace China 40mm. I have very little locks to practice on and only recently started the hobby... The other locks I've messed in the past (with this same set from my dad when he owned it) I've been able to do, that look like this one. What gives?
I think I found the reason... The deepest pin and 3rd one out of 4 are all the way cut on the key... Any ideas on how to deal with this? (The second is barely cut
Holy hell. Got it. But I feel like I cheated looking at the key. But a lesson learned. Is it always possible to work your way in that way? I feel like it shouldn't have been possible to go that way. This lock is rather old and well used.
@@kevinallen2509 sorry I didn't see your comments until now. I'm glad you were able to get into it. Looking at the key isn't cheating, it's just more information for you to use. Those ACE padlocks are very well made, even though they look just like other padlocks.
Wow that one is a lion in sheeps clothing ... deceptively tough! Thanks for the video!
These Ace locks are pretty difficult. I have had 3 and only was able to pick two. I was able to pick them with insanely heavy tension.

These ACE locks seem to be good and nice to see especially from a hardware store. I have some but need more. Good fight. 🍺👍🏽

Its great to have a lock that puts up a fight an where you can learn from. Happy picking buddy.

Odgie’s Locksport beginnings Yes, I learn more from the difficult locks. Thanks for watching.
