- Picked up the recently released Dan Henry 1964 Gran Turismo BiCompax model after much hesitation in the panda dial configuration. Is it worth it?! Let's find out.

Nice overview. I grabbed a 1964 panda no-date when the original tri-compax first dropped. It was my first micro and I was stunned at the quality and true-to-form vintage aesthetics. It's also a total strap monster. I still wear it regularly. I briefly considered trading it for the newer bi-compax but the lack of running seconds is a deal killer for me because I'm an accuracy nut. I understand this is a limitation of the VK63 and desired "9 and 3" layout. Regardless, Dan Henry is doing very special things and I also bought the follow-up 1962 model in blue. Great pieces.
Lmao at your RUclips avatar and channel name.
Agreed on all points. I understand how a lack of running second hand would be a turnoff for some - especially those who need their watch accurate down to the second, or just prefer it. I do agree that Dan Henry has been quite impressive so far. Definitely on my radar for future releases.
Tim Mosso's Sunglasses I’m in the same boat as you. Picked up the reverse panda 1964 before the bicompax came out. And a panda 1962. I reaallly like the reverse panda bicompax w/ date version. I like how it has a little white frame around the date window. but i already have the three subdial, so probably not gonna get it.
Been trying to find a review of this. Thanks!
No problem Jesse, hope it was helpful.
Just bought this watch because I saw Matt Damon wearing a similar watch in the movie Ford vs Ferrari. I agree that the bicompax is better than the tricompax. Great video!
Hahaha, I noticed exactly the same when watching! Pretty sure that was a '64 Tag Heuer Carrera. On the bucket list to own, one day.
Amazing style & value. Feels vintage, dress and sportive all at the same time in my opinion. The lack of a third sub-dial is acceptable because if you need to track the seconds you can just run the chronograph - and get the extra mechanical feel with it. The two-dial version with date is surely on my list!
That's true, and I like the lack of a third sub-dial, with a second hand, almost gives the illusion of a fully mechanical watch.
awesome! one of the prettiest watches I've seen.
is the bicompax also quieter? i hate ticking when i'm trying to work or sleep. 😬
Hello, Nice video. This version is no longer for sale, is it? Best regards
I'm with you ... If I pull the trigger, I don't want the extra seconds dial.... Can run the chronograph seconds hand sometimes too, to forget the mechanical watch feel. :)
Good video! Do you still own this watch? Will you be doing a full review/ 1yr ownership video?
Very good looking vintage...thanks.
Thanks for pointing out that it feels more mechanical without the third sub dial. I didn't think about that. So I will buy the version you have instead of the one witj 3 sub dials just because of that. Thanks!
Awesome! I'm really glad I could help. I hope you enjoy it (and believe you will). :)
I really love mine. Gets lots of compliments as well. Its been my go to since I got it in December.
Same here, got it in December also and it has been my most worn since.
Looks pure class
Is the revision on this watch a simple battery change or, like mechanics a lubrication of components ???
Amazing! Do you think it would fit a 7.75 inches wrist?
Thanks in advance!
It will be a bit small/vintage looking but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. But if you're used to bigger watches it will probably feel a bit unusual to you at first and will take a bit of getting used to and may not be right for you.
Why did you ordered the first one by accident? I find the first one more beautiful 😢😂
Also find the Silver Panda Bicompax with Date also good. What is your opinion?
@@Success_is_inevitable for me the placement of the date kills the balance 😢. And same as you, I did prefer the tricompex. But now he mentioned quartz movement ticking, that gives me a second thought. 😂😂😂. My other problem is that missing the third subdial, the watch feels “stopped” when you are not using the stop watch 😂
What other vintage inspired watches have you had? I have a few undone urbans and I thought I loved those, until I got a 1964 and 62 from dan Henry.
I have the Orient Star Classic, Alpha Daytona and I guess Vostok, to an extent
You never did a full review. . Still have it? How's the bracelet?
Does it have a lume?, and it is a mecha quartz right? Means that you’ll be needing to change the battery overtime?
small bits of lume at hour indices and hands, and its battery life is about three years
My reminder notification reminded me after this was already over ! RUclips is not working properly as per usual . Weird stuff going on with Vids , comments & chat Today .
Just RUclips being RUclips. No worries! You should still be able to see the vid as per normal, right?
@@ChronometerCheck Yeah Video is good ! I know you've prolly already put that Bracelet on 😉👍😂 Nice piece....
@@islandterror5198 Haha you're so right! I actually have. The bracelet exceeded my expectations. Love it!
Can’t wait
Do you think this watch would look too big on a 6 inch wrist?
Not at all, it's a very compact watch. My wrists are 6.5" btw, I might have said 7" in the video by mistake
@@ChronometerCheck Thank you. I just subscribed
@@davidb-h6709 Thanks my friend! Appreciate it
how has the sapphire coated crystal held up?
I really like the 1962 but it sucks that it doesn’t come with a bracelet
That is a shame. Don't know why he opted against it in such an otherwise nice watch. The beads of rice bracelet on this watch is actually solid quality!
Bicompax looks best to be honest
What is the first watch he showed called?
Dan Henry 1964 also just the tricompax model
no wrist watch check? for shame!

First ! Lmao 🤪
***Man's watch on a lady's strap*** I just recv'd my Dan Henry 1964 and although it is a somewhat decent watch, it is small. The area exposed inside the lugs look not finished and is the hallmark of a cheaply made case. Then there's the strap! Appalling to the point I can't wear it without feeling I am wearing my wife's watch. The strap tappers too much to the point that it feels like a child's toy watch and looks very small. Not a great feeling wearing it on the wrist. Too expensive to ship back so...
Martin T thanks for your perspective. After viewing this video and seeing how it looks in hand, it does look like the case is cheaply made. Wasn’t sure if I was the only one who thought this. I think I’m going to save up for something a bit nicer, but kudos to those who enjoy having this watch in their collection.
What about the bracelet is that also not manly enough for you? From the perspective of sub-$300 watch complaining about a cheaply made case is silly. What do you expect?!
