  • When's the last time you played a new CoD Map and thought to yourself ' this map is amazing'? For me personally, it has been a LONG time. In older call of duties like Black ops 2, MW2, Black Ops 3 etc.. we used to have so many legendary maps that were perfect for call of duty. However these days, most if not all of the new maps that we get are lacklustre and fail to meet expectations. How are new maps 'bad'? What is the cause of this? If you're interested in knowing, then you'll enjoy this video :)
Also this video focuses on competitive maps, but everything I say can be applied to the rest of the multiplayer maps
For the start of the video I used some footage from Replay Mode's amazing accurate tour series. Check it our for yourself:

Mercado Las Almas was actually the only good map in MWII

And even that is very 50-50 in SnD

You ever heard about the words in my opinion or i think ?? You sound so egotistical. Hotel, Al Bagra and Himmelmat are my favorite maps . Mercado is my least favorite

@@ThichNhatHanh23 It seems that you haven't played MWII for long. (No offense, I respect your opinion) Al Bagra Control was literally unplayable because of the bad spawns and they removed it out of the rotation in ranked. Pros even refused to play this map in CDL because it was so horrible.
Himmelmatt is very bad too - They removed the SnD mode in ranked because it was horrific. Control is very annoying too on this map. You can literally wall bang everything and it's too big and way too much colors and stuff. Mercados is fast paced but not too small and has a nice setting. Always enjoyed it especially on hardpoint.
Hotel is a solid map tho

I started Warzone 2 in November and ranked play in May because i was studying abroad.i Im coming from games like Battlefield 4/1, rainbow six, Hell let loose. I think maps should be designed in a way where you have to think for a few seconds and not just bunnyhop around one corner and start sprinting again. If everything is on auto pilot people get numb ,dumb and more addicted.
I feel like in Mercado its hard to win if you get bad teammates. In Hotel, al bagra and himmelmat I always find a way to outsmart people with movement. I think In Mercado are too many headglitches and hiding spots in the middle of the map.

Eh, the objects thing is a stupid take. You’re designing a map and have to balance gameplay and realism. so yeah there’s going to be objects around the map. That’s not why people play slow, it’s because the footsteps are too loud

I get what you mean with some maps but youre complaining that you kinda have to think now, i know what you mean bc it is nice to have simpler maps but 2019 maps werent that complicated, stop hating on 2019 for no reason, i like having more options than being forced to be pinned by the enemy, like complaining about hotel is proof that youre making it a much bigger deal than it is, the other maps force you to play a certain way while newer ones with the movement have alot of good aspects of it and freedom and i know they need to tweak some things but i think a good balence between them would be good, you complained about head glitching when its always been a thing. They added paper walls to try and balence it, youre just hating on it too much. Just because you cant rush into it blindly anymore doesnt make it bad. Spawns do need to be fixed and some maps need work but 2019 didnt do an awful job with it, with a bit of tweaks theyre pretty good maps, cold war had bad lighting but nobody nit picks that but you guys hate on 2019 for the dumbest things, i like old maps but they felt so empty and "play my way" rather than go wherever you want" it was just hallways and now they added options and freedom, i like doors for the most part i like having to think about other points of entry, like you said how the newer maps keep players from being able to block all entrances which is again, a good thing, why would you want to be forced to play a certain way because the map is too straight foward and cant get past someone blocking something, older maps still had alot of issues that people point out for these games. I think the maps being realistic is good too bc i know cod is arcade style but it helps make the maps feel more ominous and liminal like something happened and youre a real person thats not supposed to be there kinda like a campaigns map, thanks for reading if you decided to keep reading lol head glitching and bushes is something ive always wanted to outsmart and outplay my enemies too and now i wont be forced to die by braindead enemies because the map allows it, like the stairs for example again too, they tried to make it kinda like r6 but they need to do more but the fanbase is too casual

thanks for sharing your opinion brother. At the end of the day maps are all based on preference - I disagree that older maps forced you to play a certain way and you had to think a lot about your setups and how to control the map back in the day. My issue with modern maps is that the RNG element (randomness) has increased a lot due to all the reasons I covered in the video. Paper walls and corners/doors in my opinion make the game much more random than it has to be. For example having 3 lanes doesn't mean that you have 3 points of entry, those are just the 3 main routes you can take. There are a bunch of different paths you can take and ways you can play in older maps as well, I never felt confined by the maps like in shipment which is a massive clusterf*ck. I get your point though about wanting the maps to feel more realistic and ominous, it makes sense, but for me personally I prefer the arcady maps to the realistic ones. It's all just preference at the end of the day, we're all just cod fans. The reason I made the vid is exactly to have discussions like these, thank you for taking the time to write your comment dude

@eelge I get how it can be random because of how very intricate it can be and to an extent I like it. But thanks for reading my original comment and considering it, it's very appreciated. We all just want old cods back but we know they'd ruin it by how lazy they already are, there's no way to really debate this though bc how you said it can be random or older maps don't really force you, because you're right it's just how you look at it, I just want bo2 :( the bo2 gameplay made me die inside a little lol I miss it
