George, That is one (only one) of the things that I love so much about her. She is just so much more interesting than anybody I have ever run across. It not just about her wonderful interpretation and musicality or her comedic talent... it is a LOT more.

Meravellosa la Natalie, sempre és un plaer escoltar-la i veure-la.
Llàstima que heu pujat el vídeo distorsionat!
Wonderful Natalie, always a pleasure to hear and see her.
    Pity the distorted video!

Sad to hear a wobble in her voice, but she still has such a beautiful instrument. Always nice to see her in a new role or production!! Reminds me too much of Pelly's own Pelléas though...

SsteinwayS, I have been thinking that way myself. She has been a great Lucia and Lucie, and some other roles, but she is, for me, most appealing in more intimate things where the incredible becoming of the character and personal charm are supported by her technique and fantastic subtlety of interpretation. I hope she does not just retire to teaching or something. It is absurd of me I suppose, but she has become important to me.

It's not a question of rest ... She is tired of opera. She can no longer sing the high notes from her debut and she don't want to sing these roles anymore. She said in Barcelona, 2 days ago, she'll do 2 more opera and stop. I'm sad, but if it's the only way to keep her in a good shape and happy, I'm fine with that :)

I really hope that it s nothing! Or maybe she needs rest or another small treatment for her vocal cords. I was always afraid of the possibily that Natallie would waste all her highest notes too soon. She has one of the most amazing voices in the world, she is still VERY VERY young and we need to be able to adore her singing for many many more years!!!!

I am excited anyway for the next chapter of her life! She still does wonderful things in opera, but yes, it is harder and harder to find fulfilling roles to sing...

Dessay is a perfectionist! She is not only a hard working singer, but also a hard working actress! From my experience, the majority of the opera singers are lazy and extremely bad actors. I can understand the fact that she can no longer put up with them. Seeing Dessay playing and singing makes me have REAL FUN with opera! Enjoy it to the full! Netrebko or Damrau are really good, but ... they are not Dessay!!!

Lyric roles have destroyed her voice, and this is pathetic. She struggles with every note. Too sad.
