    It will be made into a Pachinko Machine. Konami is done with the video game market outside of PES , all their assets are going towards gambling..... HIT THE LEVER

    I think the better question is, "What will happen to Metal Gear now that Konami is dead?"

    • @Pankank
      @Pankank 9 лет назад +1

      +KirbyPhelpsPK The thing is Konami isn't dead it is mearly not really working with videogames any more and is focus on what is making them money Pachinko machines. This means that the Metal Gear copyright will likely sit in a filing cabinet at Konami and never be taken out for a big Metal gear game again; but never be sold because they don't want to lose it as a future asset if Pachinko goes under.

      +DrQuijano I just hope this makes the suits up top of Konami bankrupt so hard that they have to live in cardboard boxes. That would be ironical.

      +DrQuijano They already trademarked Big Boss for Pachinko machines. So, it's already in the works most likely.

    Your comparison of Kojima to Lucas and the language you are using to describe Kojima is increasingly troubling at the end of your video, from Kojima being able to do "whatever his little heart desires" on his next projects to the possibility that Kojima will be like Lucas if he ever gets "back in the driver's seat. While I appreciate your mention of the Hollywood production system, I find it odd that you are seemingly laying blame at Kojima's feet when it's well known Konami has been laying off his employees and forcing them to work terrible hours, moving their studios at a whim and have generally made his production a living hell. Kojima has always made stellar games, though indeed he has taken a long time to produce them. Your insinuation that Kojima might be the problem rather than Pachin-konami's terrible behavior is hard to swallow. Would you mind explaining your little heart out why you're smearing the embattled artist director rather than the profit-driven production company?

  • @rowtow13
    @rowtow13 9 лет назад +2

    Kojima is one of those directors that leaves a huge personal mark on everything he makes. His games feel like Hideo Kojima games. Masahiro Sakurai, Hideki Kamiya, Goichi Suda, and others have a similar effect on games they direct. Unlike Halo or Call of Duty, Metal Gear Solid would lose a big part of what makes it special if directed by someone else.

    Other Konami actions aside I can see why they went head to head with kojima after completing all of MGS V. Hundreds of millions of dollars, roughly four years production and what you have is 1/3rd of the game complete. At that point it was clearly a business decision to cut it down to size, rush the remainder and get it out. Which as a business is understandable especially considering how sub par the plot ending for chapter 1 was. Now sadly they did not consider the alternative of splitting it into three games, which (based on chapter 1) would have been perfectly feasible and provided them with a steady income while Kojima worked on chapters 2 and 3. This would have been a better solution over all as chapter 2 and 3 had promised from what information was in the game left over from the early production to be a rather more intricate plot all together. Sadly this is what happens when your art is business and business is your art.

    Kojima could make a spiritual successor with his new studio, have the gameplay of MGS with a completely new story.

  • @tommykeysgames
    @tommykeysgames 9 лет назад

    This is totally improbable, but as a huge Metal Gear fan I'd love the series to be opened to the public to create more games. There are so many untold stories the game's awesome world and seeing fans tell those stories in their own games. Fans could embrace the games, or shun them as non-canon.

    Konami is now using their IPs for just Panchinko machines over in Japan and they are downscaling out of the AAA video game market so that's profitable.

  • @Blackwindzero

    Maybe Kojima can start a spiritual successor of MGS without plot holes. That way, he can really become the genius everyone thinks he is.

    Kojima will find a new home and start fresh again. Maybe it will be rocky at first but the man has proven he can do great things. He deserves a chance or two

  • @Wincenworks
    @Wincenworks 9 лет назад

    Konami's main problems seem to be they don't want to take on the risk involved in a AAA title (putting out eighty million dollars with no guarantee it'll come back) and dealing with Kojima's auteur antics (not wanting to release the game until he's done with it, regardless of costs) I'm kind of expecting them to license out Metal Gear to a foreign studio (like they did with Silent Hill) with the potential that that studio might very well hire Kojima to work on the project.
    More than most creators - Kojima has really made himself part of the brand of his franchise (not just because we see his name constantly) so it seems that if more Metal Gear does some out his involvement is pretty much going to be demanded and his exclusion a bad PR move. Particularly since he's been teasing people on Twitter and stirring up desire for Chapter 3 in The Phantom Pain.

    MGS5 is one of my favorite games of all time, but I would be perfectly fine if the Metal Gear story ended right here. Hideo Kojima has an intelligent, beautiful imagination which should be available for anything else he wants to create. Games like Boktai, regardless of commercial success, show just how much innovation and creativity can be had with video games.
    If Kojima's departure from Konami means there may be an end to Metal Gear and an opportunity for new, original IPs, then I think it will be better for us as gamers.

    • @ParsuasiveGaming

      I think MGSV was the end. I mean, at the end of the story, it is said to us indirectly that we are Venom Snake, and we are somewhat like BB -- we were chosen by him. With that said, I somewhat wish Kojima could bring back Venom Snake. It is a shame to seem him by Solid. (I also believe that with the death of Venom by Solid, it is further proof of my theory because BB died in front of Solid). I may be wrong since I am not too caught up with the story of the MGS series.

    Maybe it will get some better dev work done? I say this because I have never really understood the Metal Gear series. It feels like a JRPG that was written by a japanese person for an American audience, but who had never actually met any Americans. For example, When I was younger, my family hosted an exchange student from Japan. She spoke excellent english, but I swear it was like they prepared her for visiting the US by showing her a bunch of Roy Rogers and James Bond movies. She was here for 11 months and I kid you not, she was SHOCKED that the whole time she was here she did not see one single person riding a horse on the street. She was also surprised that the most common handgun she saw was the M1911/Glock 17 style semi-auto, because all of her prep material had shown her pictures of revolvers and that was what she was expecting.
    Metal Gear feels the same way: "Yay! I'm a cowboy for no reason! Check out my bazooka while I ride ol' Trigger into the sunset! YeeHaw!!" And I'm not just talking about the most recent game either. All of them have this odd mix of Nostalgic Americana and modern Spy Thriller that just makes zero sense. It's fun, sure. But in the end it just seems really out of place when you look too close. It makes me wonder, is the Metal Gear series some sort of social commentary: A game about how other cultures see Americans, but most of the Americans who play it just see, "YAY GUNS! AND A HORSE? DOUBLE YAY!" ?

    Most recent rumor is that Konami is getting out of Triple A video games entirely outside of their sports games. So, if the rumor is accurate, and Konami does not sell the rights, Phantom Pain will be the last Metal Gear game, much like Downpour and Book of Memories will be the last Silent Hill games, Lords of Shadow 2 will be the last Castlevania, etc.

    i 'm happy for kojima, he's finally be able to create games that he wants, not being forced to do metal gear again and again even though every time he always said this will be his last. YET, i don't want anyone to tarnish the legend of metal gear. if there's will be metal gear, i hope konami will outsource it to kojima's studio
    then it will be another "a hideo kojima game"

    My guess is one of three things will happen.
    1) MGS will die off for just over a decade and if the planets line up Kojima might buy MGS back off Konami. We can look forward to a 2028 announcement of the real last MGS game.
    2) Kojima will just knock off his own series Expanded universe style.
    3) Change some names in a "MGS fanfic" Novella, base a new game "off the book", BAM 50 shades of legally grey "new IP" is ready for business.
    P.S No matter how it goes down there will definitely be a kickstarter for 1/20th of a games projected production budget. It will earn 1/5th the production budget and take two years to complete and will garner much controversy from fans online.

    This is why publishers should not be allowed to take legal rights away from creators unless it is actually 100% sold to them, and the creator washes their hands of the IP.

    Konami likes to twist the words. Kojima is contracted until December. However, he is on vacation from now until then effectively making him gone and not gone. Konami twisted the words about Kojima being 'fired' as saying "he wasn't 'technically' fired" but from what people can gather, they twisted his arm until he left. Thus, this where I believe Konami is getting their idea that he isn't gone. He's still contracted until December, BUT he's on vacation until then.

    My question is what new games will Kojima make since he's finally unburdened by the shackle of MGS fandom.
    I love MGS games, but Kojima's touch on other games is seriously felt.
    Castlevania Lords of Shadow was awesome in terms of scale and breath. Kojima's hand in it.
    The sequel sucked; no Kojima.

  • @0Fyrebrand0

    1) As so many people have already said, Konami will likely just start pumping out Metal Gear branded pachinko machines.
    2) If the pachinko thing pans out, perhaps they'll move on to Metal Gear mobile games with heavy dependency on in-app microtransactions. I expect a shoddy clone of Simpsons Tapped Out, where you gradually expand your Mother Base and recruit soldiers for missions that take actual real-life days to complete, but you can pay to have them speed up.
    3) Eventually, we'll probably see some crappy "HD remakes" or collections of past MGS games. Expect yet another cringe-inducing re-do of Metal Gear Solid that will make The Twin Snakes look faithful and reserved by comparison.
    4) After that, the sky's the limit. Online-only FPS? Military-themed F2P MMO? Hey, there's always the possibility of an insanely pointless hollywood movie. Maybe Milla Jovovich will be available for some more slo-mo bullet-time nonsense.
