USB 2.0 is 480 Mbps transfer rate USB 3.0 is 6 Gbps I may be wrong just going off memory it is a drastic difference like 10x to 12x faster. On par with SATA 3.0
I recently upgraded to a 1TB SSD for the PS3 in my setup. Transferring from one PS3 slim to another using network took over TWO DAYS to complete! Yea, the PS3 can be slow with moving data around.
Faster is still faster. The XMB now loads in a snap compared to before. The PS Store also loads faster (it requires an install on the internal drive unlike PS4/PS5) Unfortunately, I can't download everything I want to the PS3 because the PS3 cannot handle a drive larger than 1TB.
There's a guy here on RUclips that modifies older consoles with modern usbs and stuff. And he shows you how he does it so you can do it yourself if you're able. I can't remember his channel name tho....
PS2 is still the superior of them all because you don't even have to back up anything as far as I'm aware. No download time or anything. Just pop in the disc and play.
GameCube also had memory cards, so. And to be fair, as great as that is, some third party games did have bad loading times due to the lack of installs. I still like PS2 the most, though.
@eddyed4713 Original 1st edition! Never had any issues, runs beautifully. Over the years, I've picked up games for practically nothing here and there. All my 134 games are physical copies and they ALL still work, I use the 1TB hard drive to hold the updates & system data. I think that's why it's still going strong since I don't fill up the o/s with useless crap. Best £150 I spent so far.
Sounds like a good project to upgrade my USB ports in my PS3 into 3.0

@@PtolemyPetrie yeah bro has no idea what he’s talking about the bus speeds aren’t worth adding an ssd. Definitely overkill.

The ps3 only had sata 2, meaning an ssd in the ps3 would only be 50% faster than a 7200rpm hdd

I love how the ps3 can be played with the new ps controllers too.
This reminds me I should back up mine too....
Same thing with ps4 but prob quicker transfers

Don't forget the proprietary memory cards you had to buy separately to save the games
Same with most psp models and vita 1000
@@DarkLord-7 nah ps0 better u don’t even need games to play

75gb takes me 2.5h with sdd
Softmod and FTP is a bit better than USB 2.0
Can't wait to say that usb 3.0 is slow af after probably a decade or so :p
or you could just use an hdd/ssd cloning dock station
DRASTICALLY is a bit of a stretch… 4/5 seconds a level
Mine has a TB.....
Should I even bother?
My original has been running for 23 years with no issues.
It should be done by the time I collect my pension.
@@TheMightsparrow whoa! 23 yrs! ..which model u got bro ? Ps3 fat ?
