Anyone at the table: "Great weather we're having this week."
Hellmuth: "It is great weather. This weather reminds me of that one time I won the WSOP main event. That was a great day"
Another Player: "Man, my wife is annoying right now, can't she leave me alone?"
Hellmuth: "Haha, wives right? I remember my wife being on the rail when I won my 7th WSOP braclet against the best players in the world"
Dealer: "Ante's please."
Hellmuth: "I remember, on my 5th braclet, being the best player in the world, that dealer said the same exact thing"
Waitress: "Drinks, anyone?"
Hellmuth: "Top players in the world, which I am, don't put anything negative in their body. I remember in 1989, where I won the biggest tournament in the world, I drank nothing but Icelandic Glacial Water, which was specially delivered to me by _enter random semi-famous person here_ which is what people do for the worlds best players"
_Literally 3 minutes and no one says anything_
Hellmuth: "I'm the best poker player to ever live"
What a stupid comment

You know it's early boom era broadcast when the "rules of texas hold em" segment plays after the first hand.
Bro the andoird character pfp is taking me back
Still wish they did it tbh, Just something nostalgic about it.
Hellmuth to Raymer: "7 people at this table know what I have" implying Greg is the odd man out.
Doyle: "So what'd he have? I don't know."
Such a legend, busting Phil's balls and standing up for the "new guy" by acting like he's not the best there ever was.
Humble flex too one of the best lines in poker history
I think that was one of Doyles approaches, don't underestimate anyone at the table (well apart from the more obvious fish of course).
classy guy
Phil ranting at the end was hilarious😂"no money"
Because it's winner takes all
He said in the book this was an act for the camera. He had already made a deal with her 2 handed. He wasnt as mad as he was acting.
really ?@@Verycoolguy1337
@@docteura8823 yes its fake for the cameras . Phil says this is the only time he ever faked it cus it was what the producers wanted

Phil’s blowup at the end is legendary. Saying how Annie won every race when he sucked out against Chan and had a higher kicker in the trip 3s hand heads up. 😂
They asked him to for the ratings …according to Phil in his book
They made a save for 750k$ each and played for 500k.
I miss the poker boom during the early years of the 2000s.
It will come again
I miss it too. But I think we miss it mostly because we didn't have the amount of information we have today, so for us these players were the best poker players there could be and we didn't know what was correct or wrong, it was all about the players.
Now we know they played at a really bad level when it comes to a mathematical point of view. Extremely tight and little aggression. No wonder the then considered aggressive players got the best results
@@barygol i play poker but dont know much about pro, but i think that pros back then could have played a worse style but where better players.
We all do bro
Not me. Sure, there were a lot of fish, but that made tournaments much harder since the fields were vast.
Doyle: You lose mental acuity after 50, but I seem to have kept mine.
*10 mins later* All-in, blindly, with 8-3
I think he just got bored lol.
DUde, you don't get it. He is rich, comfortable and there is only one prize. Maybe he just wants to get out and eat and have a cool one. Money is not everything, oeschmoe!!!

Yes, but watching from 2024...the level of the top pros back then...
Imagine the tightness when KK thinking of folding in a 3bet pot and JJ folding a 33% pot odds with the overpair
@@barygol these new pros are boring with no personality and have to use computers at the final table to win 😂 what a joke.

Thank you for time stamping this. My life would’ve been a lot worse had it not been exposed to this.
10:00 chip reese block bet raises daniel with the nuts, assumingly putting him on a flush actually a really sick play.

I love the commentary in this. Those guys are just bringing in the life to these games. Keep up the great work guys. :D
1:18 what a dorky picture. But they are all legends. That is classic.
The commentary back then was so much better 😂😂 “she didn’t win much but Phil acting like he gave away his first born” ahahahahah 😂😂😂
1:48:56 when I first saw this in 2003, I assumed it was some type of satire by one of the personalities amongst the poker pros…in 2004 I realized that was meant to be serious
Classic line-up.
I really cant even be mad at phill for his final explosion. Duke had some of the most unreal luck I have ever seen. Won every single race. Went all in ~10-15 times and won every single won. Crazy
She also won a lot of all ins uncontested. She played really well, you always have to get lucky to win a tournament.
That's why poker is kind of lame. It is mostly luck and very little skill. May as well play the slot machines.
@pauldavis5665 incorrect. Each hand is mostly luck and a little tiny bit of skill, but if you play thousands and thousands of hands then the luck evens out and all that is left is the skill. This is how pros make money, they take a 2% edge and run it thousands of times. Just like a casino does. A casino doesn't care if it wins or looses any given roulette spin, it knows that if it makes enough spins then the house edge will always leave the casino the winner.
daniel saying his friends play video games on the little dvd player screen is the most 2004 thing about this video
that AK snap fold from Howard Lederer 😂
Lederer not only a complete POS but the biggest nit ever
1:45:41 Phil stood up like anyone wanted to hug him also
What a lineup. 7 legends, a one hit wonder and a couple of thieves.
10:50 , why did Reese win if they both have a flush but Negreanu has a flush AND a pair of 4? Even if Reese's higher card flush, Negreanu has 2 combinations. Can someone explain it? Thank you.
From the Wikipedia entry for Texas holdem: "Each player seeks the best five-card poker hand from any combination of the seven cards: the five community cards and their two hole cards.". So in this case Daniel's best 5 card hand doesn't include a pair - just the 5 card flush. A flush + pair is not a possible 5-card poker hand. In the same way, you can't have two three of a kinds and you can't have three pairs.
@@jackalbertgolden405 Wow, thank you. I would never have known that unless you had explained it so well.
I'm so glad how that worked out.
Chip was such a a G!

Aaaah, yes this was the year. I remember playing so much UltimateBet and FullTilt with my brother and then we’d play with our friends we taught how to play when they’d come over.
I’m an hour in I don’t think I’ve seen Annie Duke play unless going all in lol
This is terrible play all around just going all in. I understand it’s a tournament but no skill in this one, which I was hoping to see with this table
@@JerryLee2024 the more skillful players (Daniel, Ivey and sometimes Doyle) got knocked out from bad luck and getting no cards, really annoying bc it was a great lineup
@@JerryLee2024 If you understand its a tournament you would understand why she was shoving short stacked most of the time. Want to see post-flop play? Go watch cash games.
she was the short stack almost the whole way through, I'm sure she won a few run-of-the-mill pots here and there but the only hands that end up on tv are the ones with the biggest stakes

It's so hard to respect Hellmuth. He's such a dramatic and whiny player. Every single hand he's in is always over the top. Just sit down and play, jesus. Doyle was right to call him out. Not to mention he's SO full of himself. Man is unbearable.
