I lost 4 members of my family back in 1878 in the Abercarn, Prince of Wales explosion. At least 256 men and boys gone in one day. One of them was a boy aged 15, another aged 14, a few weeks from his 15th birthday and given a job as a door boy, when his father died two weeks previous in the same mine. None of the miners killed over the many years, at many pits should be forgotten, with most of them still underground

my father was killed by a rock fall may 5th 1959 i was 8 he was alone
