This movie is 45 years old and it's one of the iconic baseball movies of 1976. I can watch it every time and it never gets stupid.
I was 10 yrs old when this came out. And I was on a team just like the bears.. we were horrible but came back at the end too.. Great memories. 👍
Wonderful vlog. The writer of the film was Bill Lancaster, son of Burt Lancaster. He played on the other field you showed as a kid. Burt was his little league coach and based Buttermaker on his dad, who was known to be crabby.
Two fields in need of informational plaques. Though I would love to see Mason go further and replicate the original field. It so disappointing to think they are not taking pride in one of the best baseball movies ever made. Thank you for making good on your promise so quickly. I doubt many vloggers would have done that.
Agree with this 1000%!
Thanks for vid. I checked it out about 10 yrs ago. No parking lot, dugouts totally different, dirt infield, no fence. Hard to imagine same place in person. Great movie they should replicate it
I remember when the movie was released in Spring 1976. This movie was anticipated. We became Tatum fans as kids when she did Paper Moon. So most of the kids Tatums age anticipated this movie release. She was appearing on guest shows to promote the movie. I know tabloids weren’t so kind to her back in this era. They claimed she was wild, and her parents allowed her to smoke cigarettes etc. We’ll always love her. 💝
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. Very nostalgic for me. I played my first two seasons of little league her as well as soccer back in the early 70's. It was really a grass and dirt piece of shi_. before they worked on it for the movie. None of the stuff was here then. I was the person that added the Mason park info on IMDB. We use to ride our bikes there from Vintage Street.
It was Toby Whitewood that told Buttermaker about Jose and Miguel were Mexican that they didn't speak English, not Ogilvie. Also it was Mike Engelberg that was eating the chocolate bars and argued with Buttermaker.
No surprise that you tracked down the original field because of the dedication to your channel. I can see why it was confusing and you're right that a plaque would resolve that. What a relief that things didn't change that much. No matter what, each field did have a story to tell and you did a great job!
Have the old movie on VHS. Going to watch it again! My kids loved it back in the day. Have a great day! Thank you.
Hi Jordan, I'm so pleased you found the original location, I will have to watch the film now. Great seeing the Jahster again. Great vlog Jordan.
One of my all time favorites. I had a crush on Kelly and wanted to be Amanda. This movie stands the test of time.
One of my favorite movies!! I was a teen when this came out. My coach the rest of my High School baseball team went to see it. lol, he said baseball would never be the same. We won Regionals that year. Fun!! Tks, Jordan!
All's well that ends well.....another great vlog, part 2!! Thanks for the update, Jordan!
I'm glad you did this vlog with cuts from the movie. 1976 was a very good year. I was only 20 so I don't remember this movie but you make me want to find it and watch it. See all the great clothes we wore in the 70s (now they're vintage) lol I love your narration with the vlogs. You make them so interesting.
That's hallowed ground!!!!! I was 8 years old, and this film defined my generation.
Unfortunately a lot of public parks today don't have a grass infield anymore because of costs. My childhood baseball field also is a dirt infield like Mason Field today. Very sad.
I just watched this. I actually grew up there and still live in the area. A few of the other locations they used were right down the street. The arcade scene was filmed at a arcade in that strip mall. They also filmed a few scenes at a Pizza Hut that was also located on Mason and Devonshire. I actually played little league with a few players on the Yankees team. Kenny and Steve Pollack. Kenny came in to finish the pitching after Joey was hit by his father and Steve was catching. I do have think the Ahmed tree scene was actually filmed by the playground behind the field a little to the East was the tree he climbed up. Hard to believe that all those Eucalyptus trees that lined the west side of Mason were taken out so they could build tract houses. Mason Park unfortunately was also used in a lot of adult movies. The Porn distribution hub of the world sadly is Chatsworth so we are known for Charlie Manson, Porn and the Bad News Bears.
There is a museum Valley Relics museum in North Hills I think, they have the score board used in the movie there.
The old field was cool.
I'm glad you found out about the right field. Classic movie. I cannot believe that is Jackie Earl Haley as the bad boy in that movie. Lol
One of my favorite movies! I knew Tanner. He's from my home town in New Jersey. Thanks for a great video!
You knew Chris Barnes? Any reason why he didn't do the third Bad News Bears movie?
His parents were very religious. Tanner had a scene with hookers, and his parents finally put there foot down and took him out. I hear Chris is very religious and disavows the first 2 films and his role in it. Too bad. He was great.
Jordan love this vlog Bad News Bears next movie was shot at the Houston Astrodome that would make a good vlog I heard its abandoned
The smog in the BNB movie is crazy. I remember that. Also, Jackie Earl Haley just played himself in that movie. Before the movie he did ride a motorcycle and hang around the baseball field ... smoking. When I saw him in the movie I said, "That's the kid from the park!"
Great memories of this movie glad you found the real field Jordan
💋Every single vlog is Always great! Thanks Jordan! Blessings&Support. Love and Light 💖Carli
Cool vlog. One of the first movies I ever saw as a kid, love it! If you look up IMDB on movie locations and look up Google Maps, some of the other locations are pretty close to this field. The "pool hall/video arcade" and the Pizza Hut is along Devonshire Blvd in Chatsworth. Those establishments are no longer there, but the buildings still exist.
Thanks, JORDAN, for the update on this and for the old screen shot match-ups. ENJOYED this one & understand the confusion between the fields. You are tenacious and thorough - a GREAT QUALITY! "Hello" to sweet JAH! Enjoy your day!
Cool ! I like hearing about the other park you went to. I did not know that story.
Fantastic !! thank you so much Jordan and the ever so cute Jah ! :-)
Not odd, more like iconic! Great finds!
I think Baseball Diamonds should last for as long as America exists.
Hundreds of miles north of this field lies my oldest brother's field
of dreams. This field was build during the early to mid sixties, and he
was playing on it around the same time the Beatles were playing their
last concert in Candlestick Park. I went back for a visit some 15 years
ago, and it was like stepping into an episode of the Twilight Zone. So
much history had passed since those days. The school is still there,
as well as the old house, though it has been renovated, and is now
section 8 housing. The government used the housing for military
families, and when the war ended, they sold it to the public to do as
they pleased. I worked later in Ohio with an airman who was stationed,
and left for Vietnam while living close by to my family. He left his new
bride back in Ohio with his parents. How strange that I ended up
working with him 40 years later. And we were just minutes away from
one another in California. The world is small when you really get down
to it.
Both vids are Excellent! Both fields have the inspiration of the movie.....
Right field, wrong field - either way still a great movie...and a great vlog!! Thanks for sharing!😊❤
Very cool video. Thanks for posting and have a nice day too.
Great vlog today! I’ve got to get caught up on your vlogs. I think seeing the original field that inspired the film will be really interesting. So in this case I’m looking forward to going backward. Looking forward to watching the other vlogs I’ve missed. Thank you so much Jordan. I really enjoyed seeing the filming location for Bad News Bears!
Great video, Jordan
Love the vlog. For me this is my childhood movie! Love this
Another outstanding Vlog! 👍🏼
Far out!We got a double decker.
Nicely done.
Double *header. 🙂
@@jeffreyoldham55 Oh ya!Lol!
Thank you for doing this!!!!!
Great vlog Jordan and I have to add your smile and laugh is so heart felt. I love baseball since I was a very young age. I have 6 kids and they are involved as well. Two of the 6 that is in the Navy passed it on to their kids. I'm going to share this to my daughter's timeline so that she can watch with her daughters. I know she'll enjoy watching this. Thanks again and you have a great day.... Nada
You're right. They should at least have a plaque explaining things. Both vlogs were very informative and entertaining! Bad News Bears, what a classic film!
Hi Jordan love your videos keep up the good work 🇬🇧🙂👍❤🐕
With the exception of getting Ogilvie and Engelberg mixed up (or really just forgetting Engelberg altogether), ya did a good job.🤘🏻
Also saying "ogle-bee" most of the time
I am glad you film the real bad news bear movie baseball field was 🎞 at it’s was a great vlog
Great vlog! Thanks ;)
I admit I never saw this movie but you made it sound so funny now I will have to check it out!
great vlog
Well Jordan, it has happened, what a crazy mix up, but hey you set them straight all good. I like all that you do
We got to see two different locations. Very enjoyable as always!
Still one of my favorite flicks
I had a Tanner on my ll team kid never let me down when I needed a laugh
Awesome
Thanks for doing this vlog again. You could've just moved on but you chose to do another vlog at the real field. Awesome thorough work again Jordan.
Thanks Jordan
What a great vlog Jordan!Thank you for doin this!Great & funny movie!Walter Matthau is a legend,Tatum O’neal another.Wherever I roam The Bad News Bears stays on my dvr,the remake..not so much. Thanks again Jordan!
Wow what an interesting twist on the fields. The movie was hilarious and heartwarming. So glad you found the real field.
Thanks Jordan for being so dedicated to your channel. I would have never known the difference if you hadn't told us. Thanks for being true!!!
Amazing
I played Little League in the 70's. It was pretty close to this movie. I loved this movie so much as a kid I saw it twice in the theater. The coaches kids always got the good positions regardless of how good or bad they were. One of our coaches sons was our starting pitcher and would start crying after he began walking in runs! After he walked in a bunch of runs he would be put on first base. That little wuss cost us our chance at the city play offs. Great movie and great Vlog as usual.
Don't forget that in the other vlog you showed us Walter Matthau's grave. Both vlogs are meaningful!
I liked Walter matthau. He was sensational in this baseball movie.
Excellent vlog as usual!!! As a freelance designer, I'll find myself at Mason park just to sketch under a tree......and there's amazing Mexican food in Chatsworth!!!!!
Heeyyy Jordan, I’ve just watched the Micheal & Christina Vlogs and truly loved them... great wedding, so romantic and y’all looked so great dressed up in the suits... so how interesting the bad news bear anything is still around that was 40 some years ago... we are lucky that your friend knew about the filming location... the movie was great, loved it... love the vlog today thanks for re-checking the location what a surprise Right???⚾️⚾️⚾️🌺🌹🌼🦋🦄
Awesome, I just watched the movie and this video is exactly what I wanted to see next!! Thanks, and yes, that filed needs a plaque!!!!!!
Good job and no worries about the error!
Liked both vlogs.
Thank you for showing us the real filming location! I still enjoyed the other one too!! Thanks Jordan!!
Great Vlog Jordan but you are mixing up Ogilvie for Engleberg.
No problem. Everyone makes mistakes.
Wonderful vlog. Have a great day and keep up the great work!!
The field was much nicer in 1976 it had grass rather than all dirt.
Cool video My All Time Favorite movie. Would so like to go to Mason Field someday.
It's a shame they didn't keep the old look. That's what makes it cool.
Thank you Jordan, I do not remember this movie sounds good I will look it up :)
Great video.
Wow that's crazy they would do that. Thanks for sharing this with us. One of my favorite movies when I was a kid. I love all of your videos...lots of places I would like to go see. I subscribe to a lot of woodworking channels, similar to mine, and yours is one of the few channels I watch that aren't woodworking. Keep it up!
The other field looked nice too. Good vlog.
Sweet video my good man 💯👈
Nerd time! I snagged a shirt,a short lived tv series, and the DVDs and the tapes
I was 14 years old when I saw this
Tanner would be canceled today . I hope they don’t ban these movies.
The filmmakers captured the setting of a typical SoCal park from that time period so vividly and accurately.. The field reminded me of (and I thought for a time that it was) Stoner Park in west LA where I played t-ball. Great film, still holds up.
the current state of this field is more like the one i played on in the 70s.
Mason park has been known for bad news bears for years if you grew up in the valley.. do you know where the fields are for the Billy Bob Thornton bad news bears?
Do people actually want to know that? I figured the remake would be ignored.
@@MargDBXthe remake is not as good and it’s sad that the actress who played Amanda in the remake died in a car accident when she was around 20.
Loved the movie. Saw an episode of Andy Griffith where Opie plays baseball and it looked like it could have been the same field.
Nice trip down movie memory lane.. might have been nice to shoot on a similar sunny day to see the mountains and match the colors of the baseball field to really get that matching set feeling... maybe even color correct your footage to kodachrome film stock.. not to hard to do with instructions on you tube... but its cool to see these places.. times have changed.
Jordan are you sure the concession stand scenes weren't filmed at the other field that you did the other day the Bad News Bears fields? Regardless both vlogs were awesome that was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid was the Bad News Bears.
what's pathetic is it's not a dug out anymore it's a cage.
Wonder where in Texas the second one was filmed
That field is a landmark. It should have some sort of sign that recognizes it. Maybe they don't want a lot of tourist hanging around.
One thing that is close to the Bad News Bears field in Westwood is Pierce Brothers Memorial Cemetary. Walter Mathau rests there, next to Jack Lemmon. It’s a must see.
I remember playing WBBA on Zelzah and Plummer as a kid. I always thought it was filmed at the little league, on Devonshire and Reseda across from the Stanwick house park. Some of the Yankee players were apparently from this league. It could have been filmed at the WBBA as we had a green backstop just like it. I wonder if the tree where the kid took off his uniform exists because he did not deserve to wear it Amad? Most of the park fields in the 1970s were like the other one. The wood just stops.
I literally did a Google map view of this a few years ago and looked for the same tree the boy climbed up.
Dude it's Ogilvie not Ogilebie. FYI Brandon Cruz told me they shot the whole movie at Mason Park.
If only there had been Google street view in the 70's.
Is this the field where they played the final game?
Nicely done. What town is that?
I wish they would do a reunion here at the field of the living actors that are alive! They could have like a little convention and signings!!!!! Be AWESOME!!!!!!!!
I got to hang out with The Bears in breaking training! They got the hotels they stayed wrong. Dave Stambaugh was very nice and was fun playing basketball with Brett Marx!
@@HDramboDwango very cool!👍
Hi you should been visit those actor's while they was filming the bad news bears movie long time ago that will be nice though you my favorite RUclipsr 😊
Yeah, my time machine was out of gas..
Mason Park. No one that lived in that neighborhood called in "Mason Field". Maybe they do now...not sure. Full disclosure, I lived across the street and watched the filming.
My shirt is the cartoon illustration that Jack Davis did
I visited this place in 2017. Bucket List just wished there was somethings left or highlighted..
